So changing Shepard' appearance by using the savededitor can get you banned too?

This is regarding this thread:
http://social.biowar...index/9917845/2

I can't find Mass Effect 3 EULA either.

I also cannot understand how cheating in singleplayer is a bannable offense.

Hope a moderator can respond this thread without locking it right away because earlier a moderator posted that you can only get banned for moddidng/cheating in multiplayer. Bioware changing their policy on a whim is just scary.

Seconded. It would be nice if the mods could agree on this, as I saw that same thread. One mod says only cheating in Multiplayer would be a bannable offense, then the second mod closes the thread saying altering your single player campaign would be bannable. I'm afraid to even change the FoV to avoid headaches.

Define banned? Banned from forums or they shut down your copy of ME3 and you can't play it anymore?

Probably banning your Origin account which won't allow you to access any game on Origin anymore.

That seems really... extreme.

We'll hopefully find out once we get a response from a moderator.

Valve do the same thing - if they ban you they ban your whole Steam account and sometimes they ban you because you modded something unimportant but they thought that you cheated in MP.

This is getting ridiculous. Mass Effect is a valuable intellectual property *because* people liked singleplayer well enough to buy it - and mod it. Why bite the hand that feeds you ? All that origin is right now is an inconvenience. And people don't use inconvenient services.

Good question. I mean modding is a big part of Dragon Age, why not ME? And here I was hoping for some new hairstyle mods for my Shepard^^

Not true, VAC bans based on game engine, not account.  And then, only multiplayer, you can still play MP on non-VAC protected servers.

To confirm, YES you will be banned if Origin picks up that you modified SP which it scans for on ME3 launch. Locked.

At a loss of words here. Seriously? What the ****? Bioware had the brainwave to not only let the client handle multiplayer, but also to put all the settings into a file that's well-known to be modded and doesn't even bother to encrypt it ("oh, let's rename it from .ini to .bin, they'll never figure that out"), and we're going to get the shaft for wanting to tweak our single player experience?

Well, hey, let's not just ****** off people who bought into the marketing, let's ****** off everyone who mods too. That would be awesome for business.

And a few posts before that, an actual dev, not a forum mod, wrote this:

http://social.biowar...7845/1#10089473

We are only taking action against players who modify their multiplayer game to gain unfair progression, unfair advantage, or affect the experience of other players.

Examples are (but not limited to):
- Increase leaderboard rating.
- Increase amount of credits received on a match.
- Increase/modify weapon/power stats.

Apparently "My answer was poorly worded and I apologize for that - I was aiming to answer a couple questions I had received via PM (the same two questions from many different users) as well as support what Scylla said."

"As mentioned by Scylla, you will not be banned for modifying your files *unless (and this is where my intention was) they give you an unfair advantage in any multiplayer aspect of the game."

Wait. Just because you modified your goshdarn Shepard's head, then you get banned? HE WAS GOING TO DIE ANYWAY!

Hopefully they would wait for you to connect to a multiplayer game with modded content before taking action against you, rather than just seeing you have modded your game in such a way that it 'might' give an advantage in multiplayer...even if you never actually intend to play it.

Probably not, but apparently you're not aware this is the technical support forum, not the story or gameplay forum.

I made this post: http://social.biowar...2557/1#10892873 to get clarification and no mods answered. Maybe they are trying to be intentionally vague as a really terrible strategy to combat it.

Pretty much EA can ban you from using Origins thus playing EA games because you violated their ToS. By messing with the .bin file, you are changing something that you shouldn't even though EA gives you access to the file. The reason EA may take action is because they are not making an money off people modifying the game and in a sense losing money they think should be theirs.

well I purchased all of their alternate outfits and if they had of supplied me with more, I would have purchased that too. There is an opportunity here for them to make more money if they want.

Read this: http://social.biowar...9566/3#10884487

You *won't* be banned for modifying singleplayer.
