This is a problem that only today started happening, after I deleted a number of old save files for characters I had no intention of using. When I last recently played DA2, which was mainly to play through my recently-acquired "Legacy" and "Mark of the Assassin" DLC as well as to take the Item Pack II bundle for a spin, none of the following issues occurred.
When I started the game this morning, however, I was presented with an error message claiming that my gamer profile had become "unavailable," and advising me to re-attach my storage device. I'm using an older "fat" model 360 and, keep in mind, both my HDD and the two memory cards I normally use were plugged in as usual, and I was logged onto my account as well as to Xbox LIVE (although I lack a Gold membership).
Selecting "Retry" invariably just gives me the same message again, so I cancel and continue to play. The game appears to function correctly, but almost every time I try to save, the save operation "fails" because of some generic error. This happens immediately, with less than a seconds' worth of saving time. If I persist, the game will save correctly after three or four attempts, and these save files load properly. Mostly this is a time-wasting annoyance.
I'm playing with the most recent patch, if that matters, and have both the game itself the following DLC installed on my hard drive:
- The Black Emporium
- Warrior/Mage/Rogue Item Pack Bundle
- Warrior/Mage/Rogue Item Pack II Bundle
- The Exiled Prince
- Legacy
- Mark of the Assassin

Never mind, I figured it out. My gamer profile was saved on the system's actual built-in storage device, and suddenly that's not a good place for it even though I've never had trouble with it before. Moving my profile to the HDD fixed the issue.
