Im 3/4ths through my 2nd playthrough of DA:O , and i am anything BUT bored with it. However, i also bought NWN, ME, and the Witcher today because i heard raves about them on these forums. Any idea what i should start first (to be played when i dont feel liek DA:O and to keep me from getting burn out) ? Image IPB

i am a Bioware newbie, as DA: O was my first game (although Best buy stupidly put it in the FPS section. If not for the bright white and red, might never have seen it...)

oh yeha, i didnt go get NWN2 (and dont plan on it) because i refuse to pay more than $100 at a time on JUST games Image IPB

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. Played through DA:O, effing loved it and then started a second playthrough. To avoid burning out and to preserve and extend feeling just as excited as I was when I first started playing it, I picked up a copy of Mass Effect. I would suggest ME, it's very similiar to DA:O and well, it's just awesome, so far. I plan on pre-ordering ME2 as well and that's only a month off.

Seems I'll be plenty occupied with Bioware games. :P

I would start with ME. It's a little messy, but still a good game.

Play ME, it has a better story then DAO but be warned the combat system is not very good in ME.

You actually managed to pick up the two worst Bioware games for singleplayer. Knights of the Old Republic and Baldurs Gate II would have been better choices. Although NWN and ME are still reasonable.

NWN's strong point was it's DM's multiplayer game but I don't know how many are happening these days. I believe a lot of the persistant worlds are still up, but they're not really up to the quality of a professional multiplayer game.

I can't advise you in which order to play them but I can give an overview of them.

The Witcher is the best of the three but does have a slow start.

Mass Effect is similar to Dragon Age, the combat system is different since it's guns and vehicles rather than swords and dragons and it is a smaller game but it's got a lot of the same emphasis. The story gets a bit silly in places.

Neverwinter Nights has an original campaign that a lot of people weren't keen on as it can be a bit long-winded in places. Relatively speaking anyway, it's as good as a lot of other games. The expansion pack campaigns start with Shadows of Undrentide using a new character and then Hoards of the Underdark was designed to use the same character (although you don't miss much if you don't) and they're generally considered better (especially HoTU). If you get bored with the original campaign you might want to skip straight to shadows of undrentide (or HoTU if you get bored with that as well).

100USD? That's rather expensive for three games all released a couple of years ago. Here it would cost the equivalent of half that.

I suggest NWN, it's very similar in gameplay to DA: O and it has some good writing and characters.
