OMFG, Shepard picks a rock from Quarian homeworld, and in the next second it disappears so it continues on with showing empty hands between Shepard and Tali!

You can't make this sh*t up!
Total lack of commitment to detail and consistency throughout.

I specifically remember that a Bioware employee stated on this very forum that weapons Shepard has will be shown in the cutscenes but now it is far worse than in ME2.

You have vindicator, avenger shows up.
You have phalanx, predator shows up.
You have tempest, shuriken shows up.

NOT EVEN FOR THE SAME WEAPON TYPES(which don't require any different animations) which never happened in ME2!

How can they lie so much?! Do they think no one notices this??
After substandard animations compared to ME2 this really takes the cake.

Some people need to be outraged at something in order to give meaning to their vapid lives. Also, that is not a case of lying. Learn to articulate better. There is a complete difference between intentional deception and accidental misleading due to game hype and hope. Also Mass Effect 2 animations were not that great, do not fool yourself.

We already discussed the rotten and self-destructive nature of this mentality of permissiveness you just manifested.

Actually this is more healthy than getting into a hissy fit over any minor detail. Its called priorities.

It's called being passive. Such behaviour not only causes stagnation but even degeneration.

I really like it when a cutscene actually gets my rifle correct but then it shows me firing my Mattock in full-auto.

LOL

It's hit and miss. Some cutscenes show my weapons, and some show the default, even within the same level. Like in the Turian bomb mission, some early scenes had Shep with the Avenger, and later ones had him with my Mattock. So, it's not really a lie, just goofy programming.

But it does. It does matter. I care. It upsets me to see Shepard toting an Avenger when I do not have an Avenger equipped. And the Avenger is so "starter rifle," too. Bleh.

It's irritating because it interrupts the flow of your gameplay and immersion in the long run.

I really wonder how this is justified, since there's no obvious reason why they took an actual step back in the animation department.

Except that it has a perfectly logical reason.    A lot of people don't want to hear this, but there is only so many system resources in the old consoles.    Would it interrupt your gameflow more to have to change disks in order load the cutscene, just so it can load the appropriate weapon and corresponding animation?

cutscene animations are pre-designed and making dozens of different cutscenes just so that the animations and weapons mesh isn't really that feasible.    Which they would have to do, unless you don't mind that Shepard walks into the room holding your sniper rifle like they do a pistol.

Adding all these "trivial" options would make the game literally a year longer to produce and probably end up on 3 or 4 disks that you would have to swap 3 times as much.    The fact is that the 360 console is outdated and the developers are trying to deal with the bottlenecks as in low RAM.

Trust me, the developers would probably love to be able to load a dozen different animations and choose whichever one is necessary, but the fact is there is no room in RAM to just throw assets in there they won't be used.

You are mentioning limitations of the console and thinking like a console gamer.

Using a global variable to represent the weapon used during cutsenes is the solution. If Shepard can have Weapon X equipped throughout the entire game (lets take the Mattock rifle for example) then what disc has to be changed if the weapon model for the Mattock is available across the entire game?

In the cut scene code, they have a line that designates what weapon Shepard holds. It's very apparent that in some cases they used %current_equipped_weapon% instead of %default_rifle%.   It's the fact that they didn't stick with %current_equipped_weapon% (or whatever the named variable they used) was not consistent across the game.

A PC game doesn't have discs to switch ever, unless you harkin back to the days of Myst and Riven, and that was nearly 20 years ago.

Basically, the fact that a inconsistency like this exists, shows that there was quite a bit of shortcut-taking in the process to get the game out to market. If this weapon issue was the only bug in the game, we'd probably be okay with it, but it's among a horde of other inconsistencies that makes it all the more irritating.

It disappeared from Shepard's hands almost immediately.

Does anyone know if there is a possibility this can be modded, as djspectre explained(or anyone not brain-dead would realize) this is pure Bioware sloppyness and lazyness, just a few fixed lines in a code is needed.

No?
I don't think anyone is seriously expecting a patch from Bioware that actually upgrades the game instead of just fixing bugs, Bethesda, Crytek and CDProject do that, not Bioware.

I think I know where Garrus' stick went.

Dude I used to try to take you seriously but after your thread complaining about heterosexuality in games and how it's being quote "shoved down" your throat (an interesting phrasing) I just stopped. Look, we get it. you don't like that they decided to make the avenger show up in cutscenes.

But know what? A fully automatic Avenger Assault Rifle makes more sense for covering fire than a three-round burst battle rifle. And the Shruiken is the iconic SMG of the game. Predator? well that is obvious. The Predator's model has been around since the first game.

It's just...it's the way they did it. If you don't like it, well I think you can pick up a bargain copy of <i>James Bond 007: Nightfire</i> for the PC...no problem with seeing the "wrong" gun in cutscenes there. But to say they lied about this without presenting any manner of evidence is silly.

Dude I only have a black widow on my infiltrator, I do not even have a 2ndary weapon and somehow he has assault rifle and pistol in scenes.

Sometimes he has the black widow, but he's holding it like a pistol lol (elevator scene). Most of the time though in cutscenes it is either the pistol or the assault rifle.

It's really weird when my Shepard takes out an assault rifle when all I ever use is a sniper rifle and a pistol on the occasions I have to fight something like an Atlas mech.

This is exarcebated due to fact it is far worse than in previous game, and they already made 2.
Not many developers can accomplish such despicable feat.

I really like how my Vanguard Shepard, who only carries a pistol, puts it on his back during animations, only to see it teleport onto his hip. Award winning game, sure they are proud of this artistic decision to have only one animation for all weapons.
