C&C... a Westwood saga.

I think you don't know the story of how Westwood was closed. It's an interesting story.

EA decided to enlarge westood to make them able to develop more games under that label. So they merged another studio (Dreamworks Interactive, also aquired by EA) with them. More or less the same as the new studio under the Bioware label. Then one year later decided to close Westwood, kept the studios under the label EA and continue all the IPs without Westwood (and without the people from Westwood).

EA doesn't care about Bioware. As long as is a respectable label and gives them lots of money everything will be fine. But if things don't go nice they would close it really fast. Is the way they usually work.

Interesting.

On topic of the thread when I first came into it and looked at the site linked, they had 27 people selling new copies of the title, it is currently down to 25 suppliers. I do not know how many stock each had to sell though the last one I saw had 8 copies which have since all been sold. I do not know when they will take their own notice/message down (Amazon) but I am sure will happen first thing monday morning as a human notices it and reviews it.

Again, if they're selling 4 copies and hour like we witnessed, that's only 670 copies per week.

We should also note that ME3 is selling at a discount on Amazon UK. In fact, it's discounted at a number of retailers. That's not good for profit margins.

That goes for everyone else too, Loop, Slyguy etc.

Reading this thread is almost impossible because of your back and forth. Regardless of who was "right" or 'wrong' to begin with, your constant bickering back and forth is just ridiculous. Reading through the last few pages it's like listening to little children argue over who poked who first, almost 3 out of 4 posts is solely you guys fighting.

Enough is enough. Don't say anything else. Just move on and talk about the topic if you want. We are ALL sick of your insults, regardless of who we all obviously see as the troll in this situation.

:D

What do you find so amusing or did you not notice your name in there too?

Also take note of the fact my last reply prior to responded to you was on topic, was any of yours in the last few pages?

Heh, look at his post count. Wow. He definitely out-posted us.

Seriously, it's like he's purposefully answering to every single little minutia that anyone says in the hopes of starting many seperate little arguments with people until the whole thread is just about Dragoon...good grief. Dragoon needs to stop instigating people and others need to stop answering his requests for arguments...

Well I know that Amazon was taking back open boxes of ME3, regular or collector's edition within 13 days of purchase... so perhaps after a certain number of complaints and returns they decided to do this..?

Dragoonlordz, this is a PERFECT example of what you keep doing wrong. Slyguy answered ME, I wrote something that interested HIM, he answered ME, with NOTHING to do with YOU yet you try to goad him into more arguments and more fighting.

STOP TROLLING.

Reported, as I'm sure many others have by now.

Also, @slyguy, sorry I didn't mean you personally I just threw names I saw recently out there in the attempt to be fair to everyone and get Dragoonlord to stop trolling. As you can see even just sending me a smiley sets him off into trying to fight with more people...it's ridiculous.<_<

They didn't make 100 million on sales to 2 million people,  300,000 of which dropped before the first month ended.  Especially since some significant percentage of sales go to Lucas Arts,  not EA.  They need at least 8 months with their current numbers to recoup just their development costs,  if not more,  depending on how big a chunk LA gets.

That's not even adding into the math the cost of buying Bioware in the first place.  With just 1.7 million subscribers,  they need several years.

You should also note,  EA left out how long they needed 500k to be profitable.  EA's doing the math over the expected life of the game,  likely 10 years.  Not 1 month.

700 million (Cost of Bioware,  plus cost of TOR)

$15 per copy revenue * 2 million * 0.6 (Since LA gets at least a third of the revenue)  = 18 million

Which means they need 682 million more to go,  or 82 million just to recover TOR.

$15/month * 1.7 million * 0.6 = 15.3 million

Then

15.3 million - the cost of the CSR's,  the servers,  electricity,  off-site backups,  etc.

So around 14 million a month very likely,  possibly alot less,  LA's percentage could easily be between 50 and 75 percent.  They need to keep this number for 8 months to break even,  and 4 years to cover the costs of buying Bioware.

I doubt they have 6 months,  especially since the numbers they released showed no growth after the first month,  which is generally a death knell for a MMORPG.

EA is looking at BioWare as a revenue stream. You need some serious revenue to justify EA's $600M purchase of BioWare. When you consider all the costs and the cuts (to different parties), BioWare definitely needs to put up some good numbers.

Ah well Amazon can do what they want.

If its any consolation we still have 6 new copies of ME3 for PS3 and 360 at sears.
Never been touched.

Of course thats not unique to ME3. We still have copies of MLB2010 in our showcase too... as well as Skyrim, BF3, CoD MW3, etc.

*sigh* people just dont come to sears to buy videogames it seems... we still have the same 3 PS3 and 360 consoles gathering dust in the showcase too...

But personally I still have yet to play a boring game that i've not enjoyed from Bioware so at least to me, they're still golden. (Granted I never played Shattered Steel, or MDK2, or Sonic...so...yeah)

Discussion is about taking something someone says and responding to it. Since you have assumed name calling then you won't mind if I rephrase my response since you are willing to sink to such levels. Do you not grasp the concept of discussion or has it gone seriously over your head, it is about responding to something someone says, without that then there is no discussion or reason for the thread to exist.

If people stop talking about me in derogatory manner, I will have no need to respond to them now will I? But so far that has not happened and they have made it about me of which I have right to defend myself and my position. If you are not here to discuss what others have said that is on topic then why are you here? For my autograph or just to constantly berate me for replying to points people make. Especially when it is a fair point I tend to respond in reasonable and respecful way unlike the ones who do decide baiting me or insulting me is much more entertaining for them then whine about when I respond.

Your not doing a very good job of it, your last four posts have been you saying repeatedly that your ignoring me but clearly that is not what you are doing if you keep responding to me with the word ignored. You understand what the word means I assume?

Yeah I'm totally ignoring him. After his last post says I stooped to personal insults or whatever that's it for me. I'm done trying to reason with the obviously malicious intent of one person. Haha it's so funny when you read his posts when we ignore him he tries to bring up past posts that he himself created an issue for to try and lure you back into an argument. Man...it's really sad. It reads like someone yelling "look at me! look at me! over here I'm important!"
