I think this is a good thing for the gaming industry as a whole. It sends the message that you can't get away with misrepresenting the functionality of your product. Game developers have done this, if not outright lied, about certain apsects of their games for many years now with no reprucussions from either consumers or government entities. It has to stop, and I think this is a sign that people are beginning to reject the unethical practice of advertising that if not false, is at the very best disingenuous.

What? It's a sign that people are abusing a complaints system to try and stop people from buying a game they didn't like. Nothing more.

I thought the FCA complaints and the Retake campaign and the people posting messages recruiting suicide bombers was the worst it could get. Actively lying so that retailers' systems stop selling the product? That's a new low.

Seriously?

You're seriously arguing that it's better to let the game industry lie, cheat and steal unchecked than it is to try and hit them where it hurts?

How much is EA paying you?

They pay him well, or at least that is what I have come to believe. What with all of his trolling that i have seen.

Bioware.

Didn't.

Lie.

If you expected something other than what they gave you due to their advertising ... welcome to life. You can actually believe it isn't butter. Once you pop, it is actually within your physical capability to stop. Built your expectations up too far and the hype didn't match up to it? Sorry ... but welcome to the world. You can't go around blaming people for it.

This "false advertising" crap has gone on long enough. When you're actually disrupting retailers trying to sell the game to people ... that's too damn far.

If it is indeed not an April Fools joke and is real, and if the complaint are because of the ending in ME3, then this issue gets resolved quickly and amazon.co.uk still sells the ME3 game. To me, personally, the game ME3 do function as advertised if I can play the game, not if don't like the ending. It's another matter if the game don't start.....that's another matter...

It must have been a lot of people that complained. And it's only for Xbox so maybe there is something specific to Xbox.

Too damn far? It's not nearly far enough.

Far enough is whatever it takes to introduce some humility and sense of morality in an industry rife with corruption and based on the gross exploitation of employees and customers alike.

Actually, it is just far enough.  Retailers have complaint systems for a reason.

BW lied
We did expect something better... your life must suck. ?. ?. No, they lied so that we would do just that. What crazy world do you live in. Yes we can, because they lied big time.
Why will you not accept that they did lie, that is why all of this continues. Nope, there was no lie just a lot of (annoying for some) truth.

Not for this reason. Read their complaints procedure. It doesn't cover this crap.

No retailer's complaints procedure covers "not liking the ending of the movie/game/book". The very idea of it is ridiculous.

if you buy any other product that has been mis-advertised. You are entitled to your money back.
About time they re-enforced it for games.

Product was discribed as being something that it was not. There I justified the complaint, and the reason that it worked.

XBOX
"Dispatched from and sold by Sent2u by hts-scotland"

PS3 & PC

Hey, don't throw me under the bus! Image IPB

For PC and Playstation, it says "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk."

Also, if you go to amazon.co.uk and look at the PC version or Playstation version FIRST, you don't get the message. Even if you then go to the Xbox version.

It is possible that there was an issue unrelated to the ending or the need for multi-player. There might have been an issue related to someone stealing activation codes from the boxes, for example--that has happened before with other games and other retailers.

Jumping to conclusions is not productive.

HAHAHAH....Guys it's april fools day...

April Fool's is about pranks - rotating youtube by 180, writing about San Seriffe. Pulling one of the biggest games of the year so far is not prank.

Re Bioware apologist: There are specific rules about what exactly you can and cannot do in advertising - e.g. cosmetics industry cannot claim that their products do anything.

So whilst you are certainly entitled to believe that it does not constitute false advertising, your opinion doesn't make it fact. Personally I think that it is doggy because it's way past the metaphorical "I cannot believe it's not butter" when the lead writer says days before the release that the Rachni have a significant role in ME3 (depending on what you did in ME1, you can gain or lose a few war assets only).

Thus we need someone to settle this matter - such as the people at Amazon currently investigating this issue.

Now, personally I don't think it's false advertising because EA/Bioware marketing are too smart to say anything in interviews which they could be held accountable for later. Ideally I'd want the resignation of those responsible (just like I won't vote Dibdem again until every last one of the MPs to back the tuition fee increase has resigned) but I'm still happy if Amazon stops selling the product.

It is a functioning game.

All other arguments are bull.

And people here argue against being called "entitled".

Doesn't make sense that Amazon would do that based off one customer...

I am calling April fools day shenanigans on this.....
