Anyone know if Warrior or Rogue will make the best Archer?

Dalish Elf Warriors start with Pinning Shot as their first talent. (Note this is the only warrior that starts with pinning shot, Humans start with Shield Bash and Dwarves start with Dual swing).

However Rogues in general get more +Dexterity. But they waste their first Talent on something useless for ranged characters.

Also, for specializations, none of the Warrior ones seem to really fit a "ranged" warrior except maybe Templar.

The rogues get the "ranger" and perhaps the "bard." The way the manual describes the ranger though it doesn't sound as much like a fully ranged class as it is a "pet" class.

Hard to say, but both base classes get access to the same Archery talents.

Both have access to the same Archery talent tree, so I assume it's an even playingfield. It all boils down to how you spec your character. Many Rogue talents use dexterity as the vital stat and where as dexterity and strength equally affect bow damage, only dexterity affect crossbow damage. Consequently, Rogues make the best natural archers - but Warriors can become equally good.

We know elves actually stat-wise clearly make the worst archers and dwarves the best (Bioware dopped the ball on this one imo!). Yet Dalish elves is apparently the only race which start with an archery talent (Pinning Shot). As such, I don't think race matters (just don't pick a city elf!).
