That's... I don't know. A little much? Funny, certainly, but I'm not sure what to think.

CoolKid12. You've earned yourself a report. If you think it's justified to downgrade a product to this state, because you feel unsatisfied about the ending you recieved, which you probably for starters didn't comprehend, is just ridicilous. I suppose you go on about just everything in your life, giving it all 1/10 because you feel that the product was "poor", when there was just one nitpicky piece in reality.

Please, what's wrong with people when it comes to Mass Effect 3?

Maybe you should write a review of what you think of the game and give it to the people that bought the game from amazon and post it instead of the reviews they did.Its only fair that their opinion doesnt matter at all and yours does.

I have never seen fans of anything take such glee in hammering it into the dirt.

Fans very rarely feel as betrayed and ignored as in the case of ME 3.

I got an email from Amazon today saying I would get 20% of the game. The funny thing is I bought the CE from them, you would think they would know that.

OMG the silliness in this thread.

It's not Mass Effect being held it's only the product from this particular seller. You can still buy it from any other seller or Amazon themselves.

Prolly some guy got an opened CD or something like that and complained.

Cheesh...

Not uncommon.  The idea is that if you liked the game, you're more likely to tell a friend, "Hey, ME3 is on sale."  Or buy it as a gift, or on another platform.

Actually, the seller in this case is Amazon.  You can still get it from their partners because they can't tell them to stop selling it.  But you can't get it from one of Amazon's UK warehouses right now.

Backlash has to be related to the fact that alot more younger folks are at a tipping point with almost everything in life. It's the "I'm mad as hell and Im not gonna take it anymore" age. You see alot more this with politics than say in the past 20 years. I think it's just a different gerneration and different mind set. Alot of people hate being treated like mushrooms - kept in the dark and fed ... Manure. And seems like people are ready to fight back when they're hoodwinked. At least that's te energy I notice especially around Internet savvy young people 18-35

Sooner or later...

Cue Mr Mcmahon voice.

"Casey Hudson.... You're fired!!!!"

its just teasing btw

Also Amazon US has it down to 50 bucks new.  I just cant feel bad for bioware, I mean the engineers and people like that sure.  But for the most part they brought it on themsleves, it was DIRT easy to avoid any of this.

Amazon sells the PC and PS3 version. However, the same could not be said for the 360 version. Sure you can still buy it from other vendors but the point is, Amazon isn't selling it themselves.

Not an April Fools joke (atleast not on my part, who knows what Amazon is doing) but they currently aren't selling ME3 due to customer(s) complaints.

"Item Under Review

This product is not currently offered by Amazon.co.uk because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described.

We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you may still find this product available from other sellers on this page."

Ouch.

I kinda get where whoever did that was coming from, but that is an incredibly destructive way to go about it.

I... don't like that.  Image IPB

There is a fair bit of rash judgements. I'm not innocent of this myself. BUT, what happened with that link (if true) then it is a person exercising their consumer rights. So it is the case that amazon is investigating the claim. They had already complied previously to the consumers' right to refund. Now it is a case of investigating whether the product complies with the advertised standards.

ME3 was marketed based on statements made by Bioware and certain media "hype" tactics. Many people complaining is going to give greater reason for enquiry to be made.

I am willing to wait until PAX at the least to see what is happening. Some people are still in a state of heightened frustration. So what of it?
What happens next. Well, in my country there are laws in place to defend consumers from being mislead or abused. Now I am not saying this was intentionally the case with this game or company. However, many people (even if they are enraged) have given ample evidence that the game does not meet the following:
  • of satisfactory quality – last for the time you would expect it to and be free of any defects
  • fit for purpose – fit for the use described and any specific use you made clear to the trader
  • as described – match the description on packaging or what the trader told you
And of this, there are protections which may be applicable:
If an item doesn’t meet any of these rights, it is faulty and you will usually have the right to a:
  • repair
  • replacement
  • refund
There are implicit and explicit aggreements between games developers and consumers which form a contract. The game is a product. A metred response is more desirable, yet in a game which is built on emotionally manipulating the audience (through a writer's contract based on good faith), then explicit failure to decompress this emotional build up is a consequence. One that normally requires an ethical consideration for those exposed to their influence.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.. Peace.

That's funny. "not as described" may well be referring to BioWare's pre-release statements about the game, like that there will be 16 endings, not ABC endings etc.

But hey, "lots of speculation from everyone" and polarizing reaction with the fans was totally worth it.. Probably.

Even though I ****ing hate the endings, seeing the game go down in price very fast or on sale very fast is not good. I can attribute alot of it to fan backlash cuz of the ending, but some reviews are idiotic. The less games BW sells, the less money EA will give them to makes games. Which would lead to ****tier games...

Every day i think we are getting closer and closer to the point where ME as a franchise will be more trouble to the publishers than it is worth.

Thanks again Amazon US for my full refund.  And the $10 credit from pre ordering which I got something else with.
