That's hilarious... The first week of multiplayer, someone was saying he was kicking anybody under N7 60 in Gold.

Now we are at 200, heeh ?

Can't wait for the next weeks !!!

N7 rating means absolutely nothing. It boggles the mind that these supposedly superior players can't grasp the very simple reasons as to why it means absolutely nothing.

Yeah, no. I only had an N7 rank of 120 when I completely my first gold match, which was just eariler this week. Since then, I've played a dozen gold matches and completed them all.

Dozens of gold matches and 100% success rate? I find that VERY hard to believe :)

With a well balanced, coordinated and communicating team you could do it - if there weren't no objectives. But objectives bring chaos and randomness to the game. With a hacking objective on wave 10 in an exposed area with 4 banshees teleporting around, 6 brutes chasing you all over the map and 8 ravagers pummeling you from the distance, even the most experienced players can a do fail.

But maybe I'm wrong and you're really that good. ME3 MP World Champ good :)

Depends on how he plays his gold matches. A proper set up vs. geth on firebase white is an absolute cakewalk, even on gold. Any group who sticks together and covers each other's asses will be hard pressed to lose that on, unless they're trying to for whatever reason.

Hah good luck with that, Gold for N7100 plus? Naw don't think so, I'm usually the guy who lets the N7 lvl1 guy play on gold just because of people like you. Gotta kick us both good luck with that.

That's true, but I would hardly call someone who can farm Geth on White using optimum characters as a "skilled" player. I also wouldn't call them an unskilled player either, but, like the N7 rating itself, saying "I've beaten gold 100 times" means nothing if that's how you did it. You might be more likely to have experience if you know how to do it... or maybe you just read some guides online.

Unknown Unknown is the way to go, man. I still have trouble believing people really have fun farming like that. But hey, whatever floats your boat, right?

Do you guys like restrictions or something?
I started playing gold at rank 40ish.
I knew what I was doing and our team won all the time.
Just because you're frustrated about not finding a good team doesn't mean that you should restrict access to other players.

I didn't mean to say it implied skill. Only that the statement "I have a flawless track record on gold" isn't so hard to believe when you consider the many strategies that exist that can make the difficulty quite easy.

Best bet? Always give a player you havn't played with before a chance before you try to kick them. (unless it's an N7 10 tryin to bring in his level 10 human soldier or something similiarly rediculous, but even then, it would be nice to activate your mic and say "Hey, when you do a match search you should check your difficulty level option and set it to bronze or silver. You'll have a much better experience and learn more about the game if you try it in a less stressful environment. On gold, I'm afraid we just need someone a big higher level to handle the difficulty of the match" )

How about this:
Succeed x times on bronze to unlock silver.
Succeed y times on silver to unlock gold.

That's probably the best that we could have. I'll give my support for this.

Judging by the N7 isn't a good indicator. Some people can have great luck on the Item packs and receive powerful upgraded weapons earlier than others. Also, those who are skilled players might not play multiplayer often and just have a low N7 for that really.

Every deserves a chance to see how hard Gold level is. If you don't think you'll do well with a certain team, just leave the lobby.

I agree for the reason anyone that isn't a reasonable level upon entering a gold match has a much higher probability of causing a wipe in gold. I don't find it unreasonable wanting reasonably experenced players in gold matches. It's rediculous but I have had to boot people on account of them being lvl 1 with an n7 rating of the early 30s. Noone should que up for gold with the hopes of the team carrying them to easy money if they just stay in. Gold matches should be reserved for players who can hypothetically be able to contribute.

Well, people always cries that they have no reason to promote or use more than one character so here we are with a solution to that. Me a N7 restriction to gold. OPs suggestion of 100 sounds good to me.

N7 doesn't show how good you are and even how long you are playing. My N7 rating is pretty low (don't remember the number actually because I don't give a **** about it), but that's because I use only 4 classes. I have them maxed out, have no intent on playing infiltrator or vanguard and do not want to promote my characters and start over from lvl 1. However, I consider myself to be a pretty good player and don't have problems while playing on gold, and I'm equipped pretty good. But no, you won't even look at how I play because you just cannot believe that someone isn't enjoying promoting characters like crazy huh?

Like Alikat wrote, not everyone promotes his characters. Players with N7 rank 120 may have unlocked more weapons and upgrades than someone with N7 rank 300.

That'd actually be a really good idea!

I agree completely. I enjoy the game much more when I'm playing with a team that I'm talking with, even if we're losing more than we're winning. Plus it's always satisfying to teach someone new to Gold some of the strategies that help you win and seeing them become better before your eyes.

Like I said, not having a mic available is much more of a factor for me than N7 level. I don't like kicking, though. If I'm not happy with how a group is looking and sounding, I'm much more likely to leave myself instead of kicking. I'm pretty likely to just go with it- even if my worst fears are realized, I'm out, what, 10-15 minutes? No big deal.

N7 is an extremely poor rate to rank someone's skill level as it only shows how many level 20's you have. You could be an amazing Adept and be under the scores people would 'require' because of the fact you don't enjoy Vanguard and Soldier as an example. I say let people play no matter what as long as they are level appropriate for the content, basically anyone at least level 15 that's decently skilled can run around on some of the gold maps depending on the enemy. Geth/Cerberus is cake compared to the reapers on gold. Ran a Cerberus match last week with two twenties and two other friends who were levels 13 and 17 and we came out just fine full extraction.

I will never fully understand how someone can just flat out rate skill by an unrelated number based on measurement, in this case how many times you promote something/reset back to level 1. I guess based on the rate of about 120-200 a month after the game released we'll be looking at those who feel they need a method to validate their virility by a digital number will be at about 800 in a few months.

Glad I simply play with friends for the most part on the PC. Avoid the 360 bro crowd for the most part. Nice silent pick up players.

Edit:  For my adept example I meant to also include you may not want to promote your character a well, I have friends who don't want to go back to level 1 and are fine where they're at presently with one class.

Rank is meaningless; if you have someone who plays the same level 20 for hours on end and learns their class inside out, their rank will still be only 20.

This is the same elitist crap that happens in WoW. Keep it out of my mass effect, thanks.

Gold Challenge should be available only for N7 - ranks over 100

Hell no.

I had multiple wins on Gold by the time I was N7 level 20.  I don't think I should have had to have waited just because some other people are slow.

This. I started doing gold when I was N7 16 or so. Did a gold run on my Level 1 Salarian, came in 2nd in points. Rank doesn't really mean much, all it means once you pass 120 or so is how many toon's you've promoted.

Yeah I've won a fair share of gold with team mates at a fairly low double digit number.  Never really attempted gold at such a low level myself, but heh, really the N7 rating doesn't tell you much.  I might be a little hesitant in going in with someone who is has an N7 rank of say 7 and a level 1 character, mind, but then again, I'm in the upper end of 200 N7 rank and I still find myself losing the occasional game even on lower difficulties, embarassing as it is to admit it
