What if someone only plays one class and doesn't really care about promoting but is rather good?

On the other hand, a rating of 100+ doesn't guarantee the least that the player is any good at all.

This is why I hardly play Gold. You have to take it too seriously. It'a just a videogame, there's no reason to exclude people. If I see a low level in my lobby I just remove my equipment and wait for him to find out how hard it is when he dies on the first wave.

When are people going to learn that N7 rating does not mean squat..

I've played with N7 300-400+ rated people and they were utterly crap.

So...like the title says, i think gold challenges shouldn't be available for players under a certain N7 rank. I am sick and tired of  losing a game just because sparky mc'sparkpants or whatever his face is decides that his lvl 5 character with no upgraded weapons is good enough for gold.

I mean seriously, it's not bad enough they play worse that the worse noob but in the last 2 days I lost enough equipment due to low lvls that have no idea how to play that equivalated with 3 jumbo supply packs.

Really now low lvl players or first timers, play bronze, play silver but don't come on gold and decide mid round you are not good enough and then quit. You are screwing the whole team over by doing that.

Sorry..i just needed to vent. It's just frustrating, especially when the player hosting the game is the amateur doing that.....

I do not agree with you there. I have played some Gold, and yes I have tryed with some bad lower ones. but here is the this.
My freind only flyes infritartor and is good at it has promoted 2 times and has like n7 80 I belive. He can easely do the gold.

Its a hard thing to get right may be more on the line of playtime or what you have played alot befour. Won a lot of silver you can get access to gold.

I need to say that how much unreal intelligence must the OP have, to say such a thing? There's is no need to ever restrict N7 rating, as I could myself have only played the infiltrator to level 20 and stick with it, because N7 rating has nothing to do with skill, player intelligence, or teamwork!

N7 rank doesn't mean anything. I played with a dude that was ranked like 350 or something and I spent half the game reviving him.

Can't wait for the +1000 N7 requirement for Gold in a few months.

Ah, and if you don't have Black Widow X, go back in Bronze, noob.

N7 rating is mostly irrelevant, although the game should require you to be at least a certain level before entering silver or gold challenges. I feel uncomfortable starting a gold game if there are players under level 19 on the team or aren't playing as an ideal class for the enemy we are going to face. E.G: Fighting against the Geth and there are 2 soldiers, 1 engineer and and Adept when ALL players should be playing as a character that has a tech ability.

Here is my suggestion:

Reach level 10: Unlock 'silver' difficulty', Reach level 18: Unlock 'gold' difficulty'

this is funny...i am lvl 260something, and the one problem I encounter while playing with people is being too good. Not saying I am the best, and in reality it is probably just because the team is so bad, but I get kicked out of matches all the time if I finish way out in first.

Side note: Asari Adept lvl 5 is extremely viable on gold, cause at that point you can already have stasis bubble maxed...

right because rank =/= skill

People would be frustrated if they couldn't play the mode they want. If you don't want low levels in your game then just kick them. It's what the feature is there for

Rank is experience. Who would you rather have watching your back in a gold match, a boy that's greener than grass or a man of the night's watch?

Sorry... Game of Thrones returns tonight.

I agree with the OP. New kids need to cut it out. However, some people seem to give me guff when I play as a Level 1 Salarian Infiltrator. Until they realize that I carry the team to victory.

Choose the one class you enjoyed during the beta.

Reach level 20 on said class.

Play same class and no others since release.  Luckily never get a character card for another class out of a pack.
All weapons, baby.

Master class like no other has, due to your devotion to the exclusion of all others.  Be the best player of that class the world has ever seen.

Never get to play Gold with you because "Rank is experience."

Except when it isn't.  Like in this game.

How about this:
Succeed x times on bronze to unlock silver.
Succeed y times on silver to unlock gold.

Like Alikat wrote, not everyone promotes his characters. Players with N7 rank 120 may have unlocked more weapons and upgrades than someone with N7 rank 300.

That's a good idea, and would gently ease new players into the harder difficulties (as well as keeping them out until they're ready).

I played my first gold match as a sub 100. Used a level 20 drell adept with a phalanx

Ended up second place in scoring and we won.

Some people, like me, just don't promote much once we reach level 20.
N7 really means nothing more than you have a lot of time to play. You could have a N7 300 who has never played anything higher than bronze, or you could have an N7 20 who only uses one character yet can help win gold.
To me, the character loadout is the make or break on a teammate.

With the rank, it isn't much of an indicator of someone's competence after N7 20, yes it can give you a heads up but it isn't solid enough to base your judgement on someone's abilities. If you're experienced enough, you may be able to judge someone with their load out, but other than that, i really don't think there is a solid indicator in this game of someone's skill until your in the match.
Im lvl 132 n i still don't feel ready for Gold, that's why i haven't played it.
If you don't like the fact that low lvl players r joining your gold game, then don't play with randoms. look for competent players, test them out in silver. make friends, people you can trust and depend on. people that you know will deliver in the challenge.

I disagree with the OP. I played Gold with a 2 man team one is a a friend on Gold who is 1 N7 rating. It's doable as long as you have a proper gameplan. Restricting play based on rating (or perceived skill) is not really fun.

The issue with this is some players are dumb and noob and won't listen.

I don't bother to play any other class than infiltrqtor cause since Me1 i play infiltrator...
I have N7 rating about 167 but i never tryed Gold cause i don't feel that im that good, and i have dificulties in silver most often cause squadmates who runs ammok alone in use (rokets on round 3-5 ) ... so i i take this as example it means sudden death in Gold. But if i menage to have good teamates which stick together and work as team silver is peace of cake...

It realy is to teamate skill,
communication, teamwork cause success...  not ratings cause i have seen people with 300+ ratings to die on silver several times ... and when you have 2-3 teamates down its a little difficult to finish

P.S. bad english

I don't bother with promoting or playing multiple characters, but I still have a level 20 Infiltrator and Black Widow and score fairly well in Gold matches. Are you saying I shouldn't be able to play Gold because of some arbitrary number?

Infiltraiter + Black Widow .... Lol noob that waits for me to dwindle the enemies health and stop them from moving for his free low score kill

OMG I am so the anti-guy this person wants to have on their team.

I have an N7 rating of 296. And I've played Gold twice, because I suck at it, and I know it. But I play ALOT, I love to play, and I promote alot to try different builds.

But to Mr. Original Poster, if I dropped into a Gold group with my level 20 Drell Adept, I'd be welcomed in, even though I suck. Because Mr. Original Poster would salivate over my N7 rating, while kicking a friend of mine who doesn't go online often, but is an amazing player. His N7 rating is in the low 50's, but he kicks ass.

Most nights I play with a group of guys with N7 ratings in a range of 100-300. But we just tried out Gold last night for the first time.

So go ahead, if I randomly happen to drop into your Gold game with my 296 N7 rating. Watch me then die, because my skills aren't up to the task yet.

N7 means jack ****.

I did gold from N7 Rank 30 multiple times. Because guess what, all you need is a rank 20 char with decent weapons, and decent fps skills.

N7 rank is only an indicator of how many times you promoted your chars and re-lvled them in silver games really. They do not represent how much that player ACTUALLY played on his characters, only how many levels he obtained (aka re-lvling)
But since it is the only stat we got, people cling to it.

What I can't figure out is why the OP kept using equipment when he knew there were terribly inexperienced players in his game.

But on-topic, I don't really support this. Just kick them if they join...but give them a chance if their gear suggests that they might be halfway decent.
