I'm only about 7 hours into the game, so I'm still, pretty much, at the beginning and I am playing it on PS3. I really like my character, and even though I know the point of the game is to play through the other race/class stories, I have a feeling that I will want to use this character, or at least, character model, again. Without getting into any spoilers, I will just say that I know there are different endings, but if anyone has completed the game (regardless of what ever ending you got to), I was wondering if you can tell me if it saves your character and gives you the option to play through with the same character when you select "new game." If not, I have kept an early save, just in case.

Also, after you beat the game, can you load it up and go back in for the DLC, or should I keep this early save in case I want to go through the DLC with this character?

I appreciate any answers you can give me.

Once you beat the game, the game creats an autosave. This save is named 'Epilogue'(or something very similar). You could still play this save, but access DLC contents only. Basically when your character is done with his/her story, the curtain falls and he/she exit stage left. You could still load the older save and keep playing of course. But you cannot use him/her to start a new game.

New play-through, new character.

No new game+.

Pity you're not playing the PC version, can use the character creator and save your creations to reuse as wanted.

I never understood why they would create a new game+ on Mass Effect and not have it here. I would replay Mass Effect for weeks and weeks with it. I also just found out you can only have 10 characters on console... I was steamed man.. really steamed! There are soooo many combos of class/specs you can go through, and I can only create 10 toons? Psh! Give us a break BioWare, stop sliding back and keep moving forward!
1.New game plus... Always good!
2.Unlimited characters... Always good!

Oh well... I can sit here and cry all I want for game features, and nothing will change. Better build a better PC so I can create my own missions for my character to run through post game lol. And, I guess there is always creating a dozen silver accounts to make 10 more characters each on rofl!

You can only have 10??? Really? Because I designed a few characters that I don't like and there's no delete button on the 360 version to get rid of them. So am I stuck with them? I have two new designs I want to bring in (at least) and I don't want to not be able to play them. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Or is there a way to overwrite some of the characters you already created?

Me either.  If they're smart enough to realise that new game+ isn't valuable when developing DAO, then why bother with it in ME?

Or is that not what you meant?

I did some research and found that you can at least delete unwanted characters through System Settings on the 360 dashboard, so I got rid of the characters I won't use. Hopefully I won't go past 10 different playthroughs, or else someone won't make the cut...

Is there any way on the PC to open up the character files and reset it so the game will accept it as a new character? Not only did I ruthlessly delete extraneous save files but I didn't have the foresight to use the character creator.

I'm not interested in a new game+ I just want to play my "character" with a different origin story.

If you mean the same appearance with a new origin (assuming same race and gender) and starting over fresh with that, there might be a kind of character creation dance you can do with Character Creator and the game. New race/gender = new appearance of course. As for pulling the data from an existing save for the appearance, I don't know of any.

I hear of character mods to go beyond the known parameters of character appearance. Perhaps, there is or can be a mod that will let you save and load character appearance parameters.

The ability to save / load character appearances would be handy. Currently if you load a Male Human Noble Rogue that you've spent a bit of time tweaking to get perfect, then you decide you want to make them a Warrior - the editor (both stand alone and in game) resets the appearance to Mr Default.

to delete a character on the 360 goto your harddrive storage area. The game saved files will start with your characters name. Already deleted a rogue that picked the wrong option with the werewolves. short answer no more elf village no more heal pots. makes the game a little harder
