I was hopping to fight alongside Wrex, Grunt, Thane and Legion again. But no, and i ask why. Mass Effect 2 had a much better number of squadmates than ME3. C'mon, even Dragon Age 2 have more companions than ME3 (11, while ME3 has only 8). Anybody that wasn't just me was also expecting to ME3 have like 30 squadmates? Yeah, it was possible if Bioware wished to take all ME2 squadmates, ME1 squadmates an other storyline characters and put them on your squad. Wrex i miss you....:(

There should have been more characters. But no Wrex. He's busy leading his entire race (I miss him too!)

I agree that ME3 squadmates were disappointing, but I can understand why Bioware didn't bring ME2 ones back. Some or all of them might not have survived the suicide mission, so building your ME3 squad around those guys could leave some players with very few squadmates to choose from.

I knew there was a 0% chance of it happening... but I was hoping for Aria T'Loak.

The reduced number of squadmates wasn't a problem for me personally. Loved their banter on the Normandy and would rarely go out with a squad different than Garrus and Liara  (sometimes substitute Garrus for Kaidan for reavesplosions or Vega for anti-armor duty)

Liara, Garrus and Tali were all the squad mates I ever needed.

ME2 squadmates have their own business to attend to. It's not only about you or Shepard.

And frankly there were too many squadmates in ME2.

Yeah, I wasnt really expecting Wrex to join me but I do agree that we should have had more squadmates. Hell, they could have kept the limit to 7 potentials on the ship but allow you to swap them out for other squaddies, out of lets just say a pool of 25 potentials (ME1 squaddies + ME2 squaddies...and maybe some new squaddies like Kirrahe or Kal'Reegar). The unused pool would just be war assets, like they are right now.

Truth.

........however I wish Grunt, Samara, and Miranda would have better reasons for why they couldn't join you.

GRUNT- GRAAHHH KROOOGAAAAAAAN!
SAMARA- I fight on the front lines because the Code demands it, or something.
MIRANDA- I HAVE TO PROTECT MY SISTER.

Sad but I just ran with my "old" squad since frankly the new team bored me, EDI was pretty boring all in all, James was annoying and Javik was too 1 dimensional for me. Personally I would have killed to at least have Grunt back since I knew I couldn't get Wrex. So yea. have to admit the new team additions didn't do much for me either.

Less squadmates with less interaction...

I want Miranda on the Normandy.

I definitely wanted Jack and was convinced she'd have a bigger role after I saw the redesign.

but nope all that work for like 5-10 minutes of screen time.

Also I was really expecting to have a choice in squad mates, like you did with Dr. Michel and Dr. Chakwas.

Pretty much this, though Javik is a nice addition and I really would've like Wrex in my team, though it was clear that wasn't gonna happen.

I had hoped there would actually be a lot of temporary squadmates, instead all we got was Anderson for about five minutes. Why did all of our friends have to be on the sidelines the whole game? Why couldn't Wrex fight alongside us as we saved Eve or fought on Tuchanka? The Krogan value warriors still, they would love to see their warlord kicking Reaper ass. Why couldn't Legion come with us during the Rannoch missions? Why couldn't Thane chase Kai Leng with us? Why couldn't Miranda come with us to the Cerberus base?

All of this stuff would be easy to implement. Just make it an OPTION to bring them along. Just have Miranda call you up before the assault on Cerberus and be like, "I want in on this." You can just totally reject her if you want. Have Wrex be like, "Lets go save the future of my race.. one last battle, Shepard."

I think the final battle on Earth should have let you choose to bring along any of your squadmates still alive from all 3 games.

I can dream.

you really already have only 3 crewmates if everyone from me2 died. It seems they took the easy way out or the safe approach compared to what wouldve been cool

Kal'Reegar is dead. I'm serious.

Anyway... The current squad is my least favorite, with the exception of Javik. Vega never needed to exist, nor did Dr. Eva's body for EDI. Garrus and Tali are just being pandered too at this point, and Liara is Bioware's favored blueberry child.
