ME2 squadmates have their own business to attend to. It's not only about you or Shepard.

And frankly there were too many squadmates in ME2.

I second that.

It doesn't make the reasons given any less retarded.

Jack - "I need to go teach some biotic kids off-screen"

Miranda - Loyalty mission 2.0

Kasumi - "I don't feel like tagging along this time"

Samara - Something, something, about her code (Makes zero sense)

At least Mordin, Legion, Thane, and Zaeed's reasons contain some semblence of reason. Mordin with the genophage cure, he can't really afford to be running and gunning. Legion was hooked up to the Reaper signal transmitter. Zaeed is digging up his old contact network, and Thane is dying.

I think most of the ME2 squadmates "missions" and changes in ME3 made sense.

Jack - When we first meet Jack she has deep trust issues and even confides herself to the bowel of the ship just to avoid the rest of the crew. And how can you blaim her?? She was abducted at a very young age and subjected to cruel experiments. And when she finally broke free from that, she only experienced being abused and used by basically everyone she ever met.
Now, in ME3 she has found something to actually fight for: The students at Grissom Academy. They trust her to protect them, to help guide them through this crisis, and she in turn cares for them and will do everything in her power to protect them.
Jack actually evolves into a person that isn´t just a void filled with hate and rage.

Miranda - Yes, her mission looks alot like her loyalty mission in ME2, and it doesn´t surprise me at all. Yes, she saves her sister from her father but for how long?? We didn´t get to confront the bastard and someone might actually wonder how long Oriana actually will be safe. Especially considering Miranda´s later betrayal of TIM.
So, to me that part of Mirianda´s story wasn´t finished yet, and I thought it only logical that it would be continued in ME3.

Kasumi - Kasumi is the type of person who focuses on her own needs before everyone elses. It doesn´t mean necerssarily that she never cares about others only that her desires and wishes are always more important to her than anyone elses. Remember that Kasumi was hired by Cerberus and they even sweetened the deal by promising Shepard to help her out in retrieving Keji´s greybox. She didn´t join because she wanted to save the galaxy from the Collectors, she did it because the reward was simply too tempting to ignore.
So, her only wanting to help on the Crucible, because of the rewards she might get in form of unique technology doesn´t seem very surprising to me.

Samara - Samara is a justicar, and as we already know from ME2 the code of the justicar is everything to her.
Now, I know some, if not many, have difficulty understanding why Samara adheres so rigidly to this code, and if they don´t get in ME2 then they probably won´t in ME3 either. But for those who do it shouldn´t seem to surprising that she couldn´t join up with Shepard: According to Samara the code dictates that she should be where she is most needed against the reapers which is, in her mind, at the frontlines. And since Shepard spend most of the time spec ops. her place wouldn´t be by Shepard´s side.

Now I usually don´t write this long paragraphs. Especially not when I´m tired. So, please forgive me if most of it seem to incoherent (spelling and gramma wise).

No one is saying that it doesn't make sense. It would just be nice to have the choice to recruit all the squadmates that we want to join our crew.

Well, apparentely it didn´t make sense to Ventus. So, that is why I directed my response to him.

That's exactly my problem with it. It's present, but at the expense of anything having to do with Cerberus (Apart from the highly incidental "Sanctuary is a Cerberus facility" relation).

I was hoping when I heard there would be a small squad in ME3 that there would be a choice of squad members for each role. I never felt I needed 12 people at once, but the ability to actually choose who you recruit would be very cool and would have easily covered for players that lost members of their ME2 squad. That was where I figured Vega would fit in, basically to make up the numbers for those that have too many dead options.

The only problem is the vast increase in squadmates interacting with each other. But it would have been workable.

Chances are we won't get Aria, if anything we might get the vigilante with "take back omega"

Ugh. Jesus, BSN.

The number of squad-mates is PERFECT.

Period.

It simply isn't possible to include the squad-mates you're all listing because of DESIGN/BUDGET CONSTRAINTS.

I didn't mind the reduce squadmates, but it felt like you only had 5.

Ashley- never did much other than get a makeover. I really expected more out of her given the history. And
that's with sticking her in the hospital for half the game.

Vega - The most boring squadmate in the ME franchise. I mean, why did they bother? Should have dumped him and brought back, well, anyone. In game, did they ever explain why he's following you around?

I'm surprised you didn't get Grunt back, as his unit was supposed to be wiped out. And you would think he would be all over that. Samara was another one you would think you could get again.

Between having fewer squadmates and no loyalty/per squadmate mission it really felt lke you had less interaction with them this time around.

It´s difficult to deny that Miranda´s story is strongly interwoven with Ceberus. The mission at the Sanctuary was, for me, both the conclusion of her story with her father and Ceberus.

I really wouldn't count Ashley as a full squadmate imo she has little to no dialogue just Zaeed style one liners after the coup attempt iirc and her friendship path sucks. To make things worse she doesn't move around the Normandy or interact with the crew or squad.

But seriously I wouldn't mind kolyot, thane's son. If done right it would have made sense for him to join shep, and add to the likelihood of finding another drell in the galaxy...since sadly there's not too many drell left and fewer still actually leave the hanar homeworld. Also I'd like to add why haven't we seen a female Turian, in a galaxy populated heavily with asari and Turians, you'd think you would come across one female Turian

'Little to no' dialogue? 'Zaeed style one liners'?

Play the game again.

Take your own advice after the coup there is no dialogue on the Normandy aside from the drunk scene.

Wrex/Wreav, Mordin and Legion could have easily been temporary squadmates. Bioware being lazy again.

Nah. Wreav is a pus******. Wrex for the win!!. Actually, i was hoping to have them as squadmates as long they survived the main missions. Just like Liara at  Rannoch. And, they would die for the greatter god (Mordin and Legion as an example) and you woudln't feel bad about their deads.

If the squad was just Garrus, Liara, Bubin the elcor and Kal'Reegar I'd be happy. Current squad is fine, less squad with greater banter is better than a massive squad with no banter.

Legion
Garrus
Liara
Mordin

My dream-team.

I think Bioware should have given us like 6-7 roster spots, and if they were alive, we should get to ask them if they want to join the Normandy again.

The ones you don't pick go about their business.

The amount of squad mates we had was perfect Imo.

Although I was hoping to have wrex and legion and stuff as temporary squad mates. But that never happened :\\

Thane was capable of joining Shepard's team because he had been trained since the age of 6.  Thane specifically says  he does not want that life for Kolyat.

So how is Kolyat going to join a team requiring the most mentally and phyiscally demanding cases of skill and courage when he's never received any  actual combat training?  Conrad Verner proves this probably wouldn't be a good idea.

also, My ultimate wish for ME3 was a female turian squad mate.  Luckily I knew it was very unrealistic so I wasn't disappointed when we never saw a single one.

Heck, are there any female turians in the entire franchies?  I can't think of any.

No, and it's strange considering they do have them in their military (according to Garrus' reache/flexibility story). Although it has been suggested that they look so much like the males you simply wouldn't notice unless you spoke to them (seems like an excuse to me).

I wanted Jack, Miranda and Wrex. Jack and Miranda together would have been interesting. Jack can't call her a Cereberus Cheerleader anymore since she quit so how would that effect them? I imagine Jack saying something like "You're still a cheerleader bi...idiot, but you're ok".

I was also hoping Zaaed would be back too, he was kick ass. Really wanted a Krogan, Salarian and a Drell on boarcd too.

I was hoping for the option to re-recruit at least one ME2 character of your choice. But it probably would have taken a lot of time and effort to seamlessly integrate all of them into the game, so I can understand why they didn't do something like that. Still, even with extremely limited dialogue, that would have been better than nothing. I missed having Grunt by my side.

I'd rather the expanded interaction we have now than having everybody bought back.
Or does no-one else remember Garrus having the grand total of 2 full conversations with you (unless romanced) ?

That said.. i'd swap Vega for a previous squad-mate anyday. :3

Yep there is. The female turians aren't that diferent from the male turians:

http://images.wikia...._female_001.jpg

You need to compare the male and the female by the perspective of other alien races when looking to humans. To them we are just all alike. So, Krogans, Salarians, Drells females are very similar to the males.
