I've seen this more times than I care to count on this forums and others. While I, like most of you, am not inclined to spend real money on video game guns, the mockery - and by extension, discouragement - of those who do needs to stop for the following simple reasons:

The more money that is spent on equipment packs, the more viable ME3's multiplayer seems as a money-making device, and thus, the more likely it is to be supported with content-rick expansions. It is the people who spend money on ME3's MP that are encouraging - and to a lesser extent, funding - the development of future content.

More importantly, those people increase the likelyhood that future content will be free. If ME3's multiplayer can create sustainable income without the necessity of charging for additional content, Bioware/EA is less likely to risk segregating the playerbase by introducing content only accessible to paying users. After all, those paying users need people to play with, and the number of people playing will begin dwindle if some cannot access new content.

Now, I'm by no means imploring you to spend any money on ME3's multiplayer if you're not so inclined. I have personally only used MSP leftover from XBLA purchases to buy a couple of Spectre packs here and there. I'm just asking you not to deride the people who do; it is they who are potentially brightening the future of ME3's multiplayer for the rest of us.

Let's look at the flipside. The less money spent on this garbage, the sooner they realize that the unlock system is retarded and do something about it. See what I did there?

They won't alter the way the unlock system works. It would require a complete overhaul and rebalancing, countless hours spent figuring it all out and then even more implementing it. Furthermore, not everyone is dissatisfied with the way the store works.

Seems to me like all that effort would be better spent on making new content, which everyone will enjoy.

Sorry, but they deserve to be mocked. They might as well just burn their money.

To me, time is money. You can either spend a few hours and earn some credits or you can buy points to get stuff instead and save that time. If i have some extra money then why not save my time? Heck ya i'll buy packs if i feel like it.

The more money spent on unlocking equipment, the more it convinces the powers that be that game longevity is best extended by free additional mp content supported by optional unlock expenses rather than pay mp dlc.

If this game equates to work for you, I'm not sure why you play it.

RNG is how MMO game's survive.
I often hear friends cry about world of warcraft because "Damm I have done that instance so many time's and never got that "random item" for my paladin"

It's make people have something to strive for.

Precisely. It is a superior system - it results in everyone getting expansions and new content for free, with the option to spend money for the sake convenience, and the playerbase is never divided. We don't all have to support it, but we shouldn't be mocking those who do.

I don't think that is a definite result. Everyone who hates the unlock system sure seems to think so, but I'm not certain.

I quite agree. Bioware's currently got a nice little pay-for-convenience model going (as opposed to pay-to-win), and if it encourages them to keep future content free, it'll greatly benefit the whole community.

Of course not, it's just as much a wishful and very unlikely assumption as the OP.
First mistake: assuming EA is not a money-hungry corporate entity that doesn'tgives a flying **** about user satisfaction and will just give free stuff when they very well know they could easily milk the playerbase with paid MP content in addition to the existing income from origin points spent on weapon packs.

On the contrary; my assumptions is based on the fact that EA is a corporate entity focused entirely on producing profits. I outlined in my initial post how consistant income from optional, convenience-based purchases supports the release of free expansions, which in turn extend the game's lifetime for everyone, thereby keeping them purchasing the afforementioned optional conveniences.

Do you require proof of how it isn't just wishful thinking or an unlikely assumption?

Okay.

Go look at every single free-to-play game ever.

Good point. People forget that their are laws in place so those "greedy money-making" corporations from just taking your money. The rules of the game are to convince the consumer to purchase things, which is best done by being nice to them (free dlc, community events, support  etc.)

Some people only enjoy playing with friends, to them playing with random people only to get credits to buy stuff may equal to work...

Yeah, mocking them is stupid. We all paid money for the game itself after all so "normal" people can mock us for such a silly hobby.

I would buy some packs with real money if it was actually a good value. But 2 bucks for a spectre pack with some medigel, some SMG stuff I never use and two character cards is lol :)
