Endings
First things first, the ending. I didn't like it. I don't mind that it blew the galaxy into a dark age. What I mind is that it was the only option. I wanted a range of endings like I was promised. I wanted one where I built Tali a home on Rannoch just as much as I wanted one where the reapers win. I wanted a range. What I truly don't understand is all the flak that the happy ending people get. There should have been a happy ending. ME has been about overcoming impossible odds. Uniting the galaxy, killing sovereign, the collector base is called a "suicide mission" and shepard can get through without a single casualty, or have his entire team and crew die. That's what I was looking for here. A happy ending in ME3 would have been no more out of place than the best ending of ME2.
I don't want a new ending. I dislike when people say we need a new ending, and it doesn't matter if it's happy or sad. I Dislike when people say that these endings are perfect and Bioware shouldn't do a thing. I want the rest of the endings I was promised. Bioware said that there is no canon in ME. I want them to live up to that.
I also disliked the other things everybody disliked. Starchild being introduced five minutes from the ending. The normandy running of with my squad that I thought was dead. Shepard just sitting back and excepting what Starchild said. It all felt thrown together, which is a sad way to end such a great game.
Indoctrination Theory
Next, I want to address Indoctrination Theory. From what I've gathered, I think it's a pretty good fix for a pretty big problem. The Prothean VI isn't fool proof, so it makes since that it didn't catch Shepard. James talked about hearing a humming noise, and I don't think that was insignificant. They did the same thing in ME1 to point out the Conduit. And Shepard gets TIM eyes when he takes the blue and green endings.
That said, I'm doubtful that they planned it. When people say "IT Isn't true!", I think they are misunderstanding the theory. I don't think Bioware put it in on purpose, I just think it's a brilliant way to fix the endings. It isn't true or false, it's a tool. And a good one at that.
I can understand how people would reject it for using the "It was all just a dream" schtick, but the reason I think that dream endings are usually regarded as so bad is because they are not foreshadowed in any way. Indoc has always been an intregal part in ME, and if they play their cards righ, they can use elements of the game as foreshadowing of Shepards indoctrination. It doesn't come out of nowhere. It changes the last bit of the game from bad writing to a brilliant twist.
So there's my rant. Questions and comments welcome.
Hold the line! <-- (Never got to say that until now)
