- The best class to use for learning the rope is an infiltrator. You have level-1 Cloak by default, which is sufficient (duration-wise) to hack nodes, revive teammates, and run away from nasty situations. And unlike a vanguard, you actually get the learn where everything is on the map.
- Stay with the herd. I have seen too many high N7 ranks got wiped out during the first 5 waves, because every player tried to play Rambo. This is a co-op game, not a deathmatch.
- Gold is not a good place to be during initiation. Players in that space are very invested in their games. They come fully equipped with mods purchased by hard earned credits. However, staying in Bronze too long is not a good idea, either. Players develop lots of bad habits when enemy are weak. I personally use Bronze to nurse my avatars back to level 15 (I rarely promote), and every time I have done that, I have to recalibrate.
- Don't quit during a match. ME3 glitches a lot during those scenarios. You are here already. Time to woman/man up. The team needs you more than you realize. Also, BioWare's servers sometimes won't register credits and xp when a host quits. Hence, wait another 30 second after the match just to be a good host. Beside, quitting doesn't just dilute personal reputation, it makes every newbie looks bad. Most high N7 players don't mind extra works, but they do mind getting a wave reset after surviving hordes of Bansheses and Geth Primes. Bottom line: exit only when you're back at the lobby.
- Speaking of Ravagers, kill those a$%holes first before taking on banshee or brutes or whatever. Ravagers will shoot you in the back when you are busy with something else. Plus, the more time they stick around, the more swam will spoil your exit strategy, especially right after some big opponent just takes away most of your barrier and health. So. Ravager = priority #1. That's an order... a gentle order.
- For power classes, there is no need to arm to the teeth. Relax. Your team has your back. Of course, everyone professes their own brand of Kung-Fu. But most teammates do expect those cryo, incinerate, and warps to speed up process of elimination. In other words, be mindful of the recharge speed. Unlike ME2, powers outweigh bullets in ME3.
- Avoid Black and White on customized appearances. One word: Cerberus. Get it? Things get really dicey toward the end. Friendly fires won't hurt, but they waste bullets at a critical time.
- Save those medi-gels and rockets for the final two waves. The team is coming. Have some faith. There is also a little trick that can be done at the 60 second countdown. If you pass out inside an extraction zone, wait. Revive yourself when the clock tick down to 5. If you're outside, give yourself only enough time to hit the zone. I believe the only difference between a partial extraction and a full one is the amount of xp given. If your character is leveled at 20, the entire idea is moot.
- Oh, and the bottom number under Equipment icon is the total number of medi-gel you possess. The number inside the icon is how many you can carry into each game. For the longest time, I thought I had only 3 medi-gel in the entire stockpile.
- About the extraction zone, don't stay there at the beginning of the Wave 11. Keep pressures away from the zone.
- Finally, please customize your classes outside of the lobby. I have only kick a total of five players EVER. Four of them were players who made the entire team wait in the lobby. No noise, no hint, just a lot of staring.
Have fun. Thank you for your time, and welcome to the N7.
