I just wanted to make a comment on the part I bolded. I see this term thrown around alot, just what is wrong with knowing what your fans want and catering to your core fan base? That is one thing that has made BioWare games so great in the past.

Everything.

Nyree (I never saw Redemption, but her wiki makes her sound like an interesting character. I still want my mature female LI.

Me too. She's intelligent, blood-thirsty and hilarious. Sounds like a winning combination. I also think it would make a nice change to have a Reaver in the party.

I have a feeling not only will Cassandra be a companion but that she's going to be vastly annoying. lol. I mean, I don't know yet because I haven't created a character, but I think her personality is going to grate on me. A lot.

Well i'm hoping Cassandra is a companion and she certainly seems to be an obvious bridge between Da2 and Da3.

I don't think they go to the Fade, exactly. Otherwise mages who know the Fade well would be able to solve the mystery of what happens after death by being like "yep, Jerry's in the Fade. The Chantry's a fraud." Instead, anyone's best guess about what happens when you die is that you go "to the Maker's side." whatever that means.

But as for Cullen possessed by anyone, especially Loghain.... I really appreciate the thought but.... Image IPB just no. LOL

Well that would be the best way to disprove the chantry.

Cullen possessed by Loghain would be like Anders, except he hates Orlesians instead of Templars

LOL- if it was that easy, I think someone like Anders/Justice would have done it already. Image IPB

Cullen poessed by Logain...what what what?? 0_o What madness is this...

Forget that..WEIRD RESURRECTION SPELL FROM FLEMETH brings back younger Loghain for some horrible/cool/weird unknown purpose that isn't revealed until later. :)

I'd like if most of the romances and companions were completely new NPC we never met before. Or at least half of them. I have nothing against Cullen or Cassandra or Tallis (or anybody else) as a potential companion/romance, but there is a certain charm in getting to know the companion from the absolute zero.

A few days ago, I just played Mark of the Assassin, Legacy, and Sebastian's companion quests for the first time and I would very much like to see Tallis and Sebastian to return again and have Tallis romanceable (straight).

Mostly I'd want : The Warden, Alistair, Oghren, Sten, Morrigan, Lelieana, Zevran, Varric, Anders, Fenris, Cassandra, Shale, Isabella, Dog, Nathaniel.

But since most of these aren't going to happen I'll narrow it down to: Sten, Oghren, Morrigan, Lelienna, Varric, Shale, Isabella, Fenris, and Zevran

I actually would of loved to romance Varric. Damn Bianca! I would like to be given the opportunity to romance Cullen. New shiny characters would also be welcomed. Hopefully ones that aren't complaining all the time.

played through origins again, when i reached ostagar i tried to speak to the mages, the templar stops me and says they're in the fade, i ask "the fade?"
the templar says the mages say that the fade IS the realm of spirits, demons and of the dead.

Sorry folks but some characters just wont be romanceable- Varric and Aveline for example- as they are already taken.

I actually just want some new romanceables- all Herosexual again. And as for companions, I just need three- one to be my LI, one to be my bro, and one to be my respected rival. As long as I have those three then I will need nobody else.

I would like to see the following back in some capacity in DA3: Prince Sebastian Vael and what has happened to him since the events of DA2; Morrigan-because she's awesome; The Champion-because I want to know what happened after DA2; Flemeth--just because; and some all-new characters because the world is so interesting and the possibilities are exciting to think about.

I don't think Merrill has a Dalish view on the fade spirits at all - in fact, Marethari seems to well know the difference between a good spirit and a bad spirit, though she may not use the word demon. And just because the Chantry may be unattractive doesn't automatically mean that they have false knowledge on this point.

I'll let the dialogue between Anders and Merrill speak for itself on this issue:

Anders: Maybe you don't really understand the difference between spirits and demons.

Merrill: Did I ask you?

Anders: Spirits were the first children of the Maker, but He turned his back on them to dote on His mortal creations. The ones who resented this became demons, driven to take everything mortals had and gain back the Maker's favor.

Merrill: Your "Maker" is a story you humans use to explain the world. We have our own stories. I don't need to borrow yours.

I hope that concludes any doubt about spirits and demons being part of Andrastian lore.

I actually don't see how that settles anything, except that Anders and Merrill disagree. If I mislead you to believe I didn't understand the Chantry view on fade spirits, I apologize - but like I said, just because the Chantry is unattractive doesn't make them wrong.

On the contrary, Merrill seems to be the only Dalish elf who refuses to see the difference between evil fade spirits and benevolent ones. Don't you remember how her entire clan freaked out when she began practicing blood magic? Is she smarter than all of them now?

You don't see how Anders explicitly stating that the distinction between spirits and demons is an Andrastian distinction that has to do with Andrastian lore, with the religious belief that the denizens of the Fade are "Children of the Maker," reveals why the Dalish don't share their religious views? You realize the Dalish don't believe in the Maker, they believe in the Creators. I don't see why you're even disputing what is explicitly said by these characters.

What I can't understand is how you're claiming that Merrill alone holds this belief. Are you seriously suggesting that all Dalish believe in the Maker, and the Andrastian lore of the Chantry?

I see using blood magic to stop any tragedy as being quite evil, because the power of blood magic is corrupting. It is the act of opening yourself up to demonic influence as a trade-off for whatever you think that power is worth. And it is making yourself a potential horror greater than any that your loved ones now have to deal with.

Except some mages turn to blood magic because they see it as the only school of magic that's free of spirits and demons, per the lore:

"Nothing inspires as much wild-eyed terror as the Blood Mage. Mages of this type take the raw energy of life and twist it to their own purposes. They can corrupt and control, and sustain their power by consuming the health of others, willing or not. The effects can be vile, but this specialization isn’t limited to madmen and monsters. Many see it as the only form of magic that is truly free, because it’s tied to the physical, not favors to spirits or demons."

I suppose this is an issue where we will simply have to agree to disagree.

I don't know what to say about that bolded part of the codex entry. Good find. I hope you'll agree with me that that's a side of blood magic that hasn't been adequately explained to us, so I can honestly say I don't know what to make of it.

And you know me - I've already agreed to disagree, but as long as you find it worth talking about I'm game. Image IPB

I'm a little wary about whether it will ever be adequately explained, to be honest.

I hope they bring back funny for male LIs. Obviously we tend to appreciate in LIs what we appreciate IRL, and for me, funny goes a long way. All the way, actually.

Alistair remains my fave, precisely because he made me laugh. I enjoyed the passionate nature of the Anders romance, but I think I tolerated his obsession because I recalled him from DAA and kept looking for that Anders underneath the angst.

As for concrete male LI suggestions: Rhys and Cullen. Both interesting, complex characters that I think have a lot of potential for development.

I want Cullen too.

When I played DA:O as a mage and encountered the trapped Cullen being tormented and talking about how he'd been in love with my apprentice, I was really touched. I *would* have romanced him given the option but alas, no. I moved on to Zevran who was a great character.

When I saw Cullen in DA2, I was super excited. I wasn't completely let down that he was an NPC without a whole lot of impact, I was just very happy to see him included at all. Felt kind of bad that his situation this time around wasn't much better but it was great to see him return.

I really really want to see Cullen in DA3. I want him as a romance option (and therefore a companion), I want to see him get the kind of happiness I'd have willing to offer him from the beginning. I think he's been conflicted enough to work as a party member no matter what you play.

I'd sort of like to see Lily, since Dawn of the Seeker came out I see her as evolving to a Casandra mentality toward Blood mages, but without Casandras self control.

What i would like:

Companion: A character with a pro-templar mindset.

Romance: A female dwarf for male protagonist.
