In light of a recent statement by BioWare staff that modding the singleplayer in Mass Effect 3 will get you banned from the game
What statement are you refering to exactly?

As I said; "If there is even a remote possibility of me being banned for modding the singleplayer game, then I intend on sending the game back to BioWare for a full refund."

It was something such as this, but not with that quote in it. Same employee, however, and I had rather assumed that everyone had heard about it by now.

You only get banned if you mod the MP to gain advantages over other players. SP is still fair game for the most part, from what I read in that quote.

How delightfully fascist, banning for modding SP.
Yeah. I'm boycotting entire publishers right now because of attitudes like that (among other things).

Quite true. Bethesda is legendary for their modding support. Their games are easier to mod than Jedi Knight 2 and Jedi Academy were. Once you figure out how to do it, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 are not that difficult to mod either (I just wish they had given us a way to easily use custom textures on the PC version so that someone could make an HD texture pack), however this whole incident about possibly being banned for modding singleplayer is pushing way too far. It's bad enough that BioWare had to 'cook' their config file to make it difficult to edit, but to threaten bans for users who mod singleplayer (even if the threat was a mistake) is not acceptable.
Mass Effect 3 has just been one stupid thing after another. First, we're forced to use Origin, which is a load of horse-manure. Then, the game has a terrible ending. Now, a BioWare employee locks a thread about modding singleplayer saying that the game will detect a moddified config file and ban players even for modding singleplayer.
There's an old saying; "Three strikes, and you're out." Well BioWare, as far as I'm concerned, that's three strikes, and I want a refund.

To confirm, YES you will be banned if Origin picks up that you modified SP which it scans for on ME3 launch. Locked.
Apparently "My answer was poorly worded and I apologize for that - I was aiming to answer a couple questions I had received via PM (the same two questions from many different users) as well as support what Scylla said."
"As mentioned by Scylla, you will not be banned for modifying your files *unless (and this is where my intention was) they give you an unfair advantage in any multiplayer aspect of the game."

So it's not as bad as it seemed, thankfully.

That's a cute quote, however I am forced to ask why BioWare refuses to be good to its customers?
I was a fan of Mass Effect. I loved the games, even though they weren't perfect. I even purchased almost all of the DLC. Then I finish Mass Effect 3, and the revelation of the reason behind the creation of the Reapers was just an insult to loyal fans such as myself. Now BioWare comes out with DLC that won't fix any of the actual problems with the ending, because they are too proud to admit that they made a mistake.
Dear BioWare, your pride disgusts me, and so does your lack of commitment to your fans. You have lost my respect, and my business. Please fulfill my request for a refund.
