Did anyone else consider that the whole idea of ME3 was a bit similar to Dragon Age Origins? To be clear , this is not a negative attack towards the quality of ME3. But the story idea is a bit similar.
Join numerous races together to fight the invading blight, whether it be Darkspawn or Reapers. They're the same themes done in two different worlds. So why didn't BioWare make an ending as epic as Dragon Age Origins?I'm NOT reffering to the last few scenes, but the mission on Earth where you're trying to reach the conduit. Everything prior to the laser blast. In Dargon Age Origins, you had a set number of soldiers of each race you could call in to help you out. That was really dynamic and a direct representation of what you'd been working to do the entire game.
However, in Mass Effect 3, nothing was represented, except in some cutscenes in outer space before you're dropped off. That's the first few seconds of the whole climax! That's sortof lame after what they did with DAO. The actual mission in ME3 itself is freaking awesome up until you shoot Marauder Shields, but it isn't as obvious that you've created a GINORMOUS fleet between four races or something. It just isn't there, because no matter what happens prior, that actual level is always the same. You don't change the tide of things based on which army you call in, because you can't call in an army. But in DAO, you call in dwarves and elves, and immediately the tables turn. They are there, physically, and litterally saving you from a "YOU DIED" loading screen. It was awesome.
I mean, I would have appreciated if in the final mission, whenever you came up to that giant reaper laser thing while trying to find the heavy weapons, that you could call in a small fleet of turians to nuke all the surrounding enemies around the Reaper Cannon, to help make the fight easier. I mean, you'd have a precise limit on how many times you could use this, but the number would be based on your EMS, so that your EMS actually did matter. That sort of thing would make the final hours much more dynamic, entertaining, and even worth coming back to, imo. But that's just me.
Using your army in the end.

LOL within the opening sequence of the game, when Anderson first tells you to go and get the council races, in about two seconds flat I turned to my flat mate and said 'I sense this is going to be Dragon Age all over again....go over there and recruit that race, but they wont' help unless you solve a problem or go on a separate quest for them etc etc) LOL And she said 'yep, we're going to have to do a bunch of quests to get each race on side'. So yeah....within about ten minutes of starting ME3, we realised it was going to follow the Dragon Age theme.
