Is there a specific race that would benefit playing as a rogue more than the others. starting bonus's in certain attributes or anything?

Not really, the one or two points you get from the race selection are vastly out weighed by the points you get to apply in game. Go for what makes you happy.

the starting points really arnt a big deal as all the stats are useful to a rogue in some way. even magic stat is minorly useful to increase the amount heal potions heal you for.

some origins start with different skills though. such as commoner dwarf starts with a point in pickpocket, and if you dont want that skill another origin could be better.
also the starting weapon talents can differ like dalish elves start with archery talent which you may not want.

id consider those things more important than the starting stat points myself.

I think humans benefit for warriors, and dwarves benefit against magic...and elves benefit as mages...but I think the reason why the races have no traits benefitting rogues in particular is due to the fact that ANYONE is a potential rogue...aka a thief, an assassin, etc. Hense...it would be kinda rude to say that 1 race is benefitted more from robbing and murdering then another =P

Dwarves would seem sluggish and slothly to me. Go human for rogue. We're pretty good thieves I suppose.
