is there a place to buy a backpack to increase inventory capacity ?  if yes, where/who ?  thanks

There are 2 in the first area you go to with duncan. The merchant has one for 50s? and then after going into the wilds and before starting the battle you can buy another from him.

Yup, two from the Quartermaster in Ostagar for a little less than 58s, and the rest are available on various merchants, including Bodahn at the party camp for anywhere between 6 and 8 gold.

Max capacity is 125 - so dont waste your time trying to find more of them once you are at 125.
