My immediate thought was honestly "I'm never playing video games again." I was ready to pack up all my consoles and games and trade them in and give the credit to one of my younger cousins.
Luckily we gamers have short attention spans and while going through my games I noticed GTA IV and remembered GTA V would be out within the next 1-1.5 years.
The end, what were your 3 immediate emotions?

I just got devastated. "This wasn't suppose to be like this, why? WHY?"
Depression post-Mass Effect indeed.

Confused - as I beat it the first time.
Hopeful - as I was sure there would be more / different endings.
Depressed - as I realized there wasn't.

1] DO NOT WANT.
2] DO NOT WANT.
3] DO NOT WANT.
4] Where the hell is my 4th option?
..
5] Stares at ending scredits, mind completely void.
6] Shrugs shoulders, goes to play another game.

Confusion
Disappointment
Depression
I actually don't even feel like picking up a controller any more, and the first time I played all the other ME games I wanted to replay them the second I finished them. I'm actually kind of glad I got into the series so late, I can't imagine how it would feel to wait 5 years for this ending. I don't think I've ever felt so emotional about a game before in my life.

This crappy ending has really hurt my belief in gaming in general. If Bioware can't pull of a decent end for such a great trilogy, who could?

My immediate reaction was confusion -- "where's the battle"? I assumed all that "Take Back Earth" stuff showing Shepard leading the troops into battle was going to at least be kinda-sorta replicated in the game. I assumed drumming up all those races and supporting characters was going to be reflected in the ending -- something like the suicide mission from ME2, but on a planetary scale. I have to admit I didn't process the choice itself all that much -- I took Green -- but it was mild surprise that there was nothing of more consequence than "Joker and EDI land on a weird planet". Except that I was confused that Liara (on my squad) got off the ship as well... Huh?
Then I went and watched the other endings on YouTube, and that moved me to disappointment and sadness. I figured maybe I just picked the "wrong" ending -- that the Green was too goody-two-shoes and Red (in particular) would get the battle I wanted. But no... ALL the endings were the same. Even then it wasn't anger... just deep disappointment, but starting to understand what the fuss was about (I had avoided spoilers like the plague in the leadup).
It's where I started reading the forums -- and specifically the disconnect to the "promises" offered in the run-up to release where I started to get angry about it. That's where we went from confusing and rushed to "they flat out lied to us". (Unless Indoctrination Theory is true in whole or in part.)

Mass Effect is my favorite game ever and they ruined all my expectations for an epic and great ending.
