ME1 Liara was different, i think they rewamped idea of how she belong to ME universe. Im glad to say ME2ME3 Liara has nothing common to ME1, its like whole different person.
I liked her in ME1, hate her in rest of games
Anyone miss me1 Liara?

I think that sometimes the VA is a bit emotionless.. she just feels cold, ice cold.

Traumatic things change people, as with Liara. You really expected her to be exactly the same? She can (if you brought her to Noveria) experience her own mother's death, survive the tragic experience of the SR1 and believe Shepard just died (and can't part away with that) - so she sets up to change that... blah blah ME2 events, we all know what happened.
I think her new views on life worked, but other people do not and that's fine, it's their opinion and vise versa.
The only minor complaint I have wit her VA... is on Mars, very monotone compared to the rest of her during ME3.

ME1 Liara was shy and retiring, unsure of herself and in the wake of discovering her mother's plots and helping to kill her. That said, she knew how to take care of herself.
ME2 Liara had spent 2 years of hell (particularly if you courted her) as her hero/lover died, she got caught up with the Shadow Broker and lost her closest friend. The ME1 crew didn't really take to Liara so she didn't have anyone to turn to. This did indeed harden her.
ME3 Liara. Hmmmm. I've always had Liara as my LI. The interactions between Shep (fem) and Liara as LI are great. Heartwarming, affectionate, witty, they tease each other a lot, marvelous. I think she softened after the events of LOTSB, that pained adrenaline filled expression on her face the moment she and Shep took down the SB seemed to release her. Closure.
I had an old ME2 save that I'd done before playing ME1 (yea, I did it the wrong way around) which has zero LI's. I got to Mars and when I met Liara there was nothing. No affection, no nothing. Gave up on that save lol.

ME 1 Liara had little character development and had a forced romance. The way Liara was handled in the sequels was much more smooth and natural.
Edit: The voice acting was also much improved.

I think I would be alright with kick-ass liara more if I had seen some of the development between ME1 and 2
Instead it's like, "ME1: Science is Adorable! *Rainbows*unicorns*awkwardness*" and then it goes straight to, "KILL ALL THE THINGS..."
Kinda a shock for Shepard, and me.
She does get much much better in ME3 though...

No, I honestly don't.
Don't get me wrong, Cute SCIENCE! Liara was great - She was always my favorite character in the original mass effect. But I absolutely love how her character actually developed overtime. She became a little colder after becoming an information dealer - then again when becoming the shadowbroker.
I thought that was a great change of character. She's not as naive and bubbly anymore - she's more of a "real person,"

It gets worse. My love interest is the shadow broker. I denied Allers one night stand offer because of the potential fallout
This is partly why I stuck with her as LI through all 3 games. I came in late and had the complete editions for ME1 and 2 so I ended up doing LotSB in the middle. Kinda felt like a bad idea to cheat on her after that.
I wouldn't say ME1 liara was better or worse. Just different. I like that she managed to have actual charachter growth over the series. Probably the largest change of any of them also. Tali and Garrus also, but to a smaller extent. Liara is noticably different(and it makes sense) from the ME1 version. Nice to see.

I didn't like Liara in the first game. I just felt like the game was trying to shove her at me as a romance option when I was more interested in Kaidan. Then I played the Shadow Broker- she was more human, I loved her cute dialogue. By the third game I was completely enamored by her and almost abandoned my loyalty to Kaidan but I decided I'm going to make a separate playthrough to romance her. I can see why you would like her dialogue and cuteness more in the first game, but I feel like the voice actor was trying too hard to sound "alien" when what makes the alien characters so compelling is their humanity.

Yeah, I miss the ME1 Liara.
It's mostly because her writing gets really sh!tty in ME2.

I seriously miss ME1 Liara, even stated that in my "LIA Tribute" letter.
She became too canon (and stamp) in ME2, and much more... vile and cruel.
