I was wondering at the notion of DLCs as I’ve noticed many people here would like to have them added to ME3 after the ending failure. I’ve seen people wanting LI DLC, of course new ending DLC (hell I can’t say that I don’t want it myself), new armour DLC, companion DLCs to name a few. And it really makes me wonder why can’t we get a complete game? Why ME 3 had to be turned into money making game where fans are begging for DLC only to make their game complete and logical (like in the case of the ending).

Tell me if you agree with me or am I only being bitter because I hate ME3 ending so much.:?

You did get a complete game. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. Just because you did not like the ending does not mean you were sold an incomplete product.

I'm not a fan of the endings and would love to see DLC that provides a more satisfying conclusion to the game. But if that DLC ever does get released, Bioware has every right to charge for it.

It is right to charge for the Alt ending DLC (if it gets made) because 1 DLC's cost money to make 2 you got exactly what you paid for.

Allow me to elaborate. You bought ME 3 on the basis that Casey Hudson and the ME team would give you their best effort and their vision for the final game. They did.

It sucked.

And yes we all want a new one and maybe we are right to ask for one (because wow, it just sucks SO bad), but it isn't right for it to be free.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you are confusing "complete game" with "no dlc".

While it's definitely exploitable, the basic idea behind dlc is to extend game length for those who enjoy it in small, quick spurts. Content which would never have seen the light of day otherwise is a perfect example of the benefits of dlc.

Lack of dlc itself is never a guarantee of good quality or a complete and logical game (see KotOR 2's ending, unfortunately). It just means that it's not possible to modify anything post release.

The way I go about it? If I enjoyed the base game for the price I bought it and if the dlc looks interesting, I have no problem shelling out.

Completely agree 100% with you on all points bar the one about disliking the ending (I liked it). But everything else 100% in agreement with.

Wow -- I've seen a lot of these threads but I've never seen someone slapped down this hard this fast.

They didn't. If you know them, you know they can do a lot better.

So if you get a stinky apple pie in a restaurant when you were told the desserts were fabulous and original, you have to pay twice if you decide to try again their desserts... ?

This is the exact type of opinions that validate the developers' tendency to abuse it's consumer base, "fans" are nothing more than walking ads with dollar-made bullseyes on their chests these days.

As long as it remains an optional hobby then you are free to take your custom to another place for another title, one you feel is more inline with your own views. As for the rest, they have different tolerances towards what offends them and as long as they out number the ones offended there is no change to be made. Market rules, do what you can within the boundaries of what is accepted. It is accepted right now and I don't see any reason to change it yet. No matter how I wish to look at it to me it still is additional content (I got an ending regardless of whether I liked it or not), which cost to make and should cost to buy. That investment can go towards more content for the games I like in the future, extending the life of the product.

If you got a stinky apple pie you would not wish to eat another pie that may be stinky from the same place. You would get a refund and go somewhere else. You are free to do so here, if think their game is stinky, sell it or return it and buy a different game. Else what your actually doing is sitting there eating the same stinky pie you hated in spite of the fact you hated it. You are not getting a new pie by paying for DLC, you have the same so called 'stinky' pie but paying for a cherry on top.

Abuse? Are you one of those tinfoil-hat types who thinks that Bio deliberately planned bad endings to sell ending DLCs?

Reminded me of this story.

Ironic now that GAME which is same as Gamestation is now in finacially trouble. Though they have got bailed out and will probably make a big return (which I consider good that they will continue to be around and selling games, though don't think was smart move having multiple stores in each town when only needed one every other town at most).

Why should any DLC that expands upon the endings be free?

The game shipped with an ending. It just worked out that most of the fanbase didn't like the ending. Nevertheless, you were not sold an incomplete product.

If you watch a film in the theater that has a disappointing ending, do you then have a right to demand that the filmmakers reshoot the ending and release it on DVD, for free, production costs be damned? Because that is basically what people are doing by demanding that Bioware release DLC correcting the ending, without charging for it.

Any DLC that alters the existing ending is an extra that was made only out of fanservice. As such, Bioware has every right to charge for it.

Umm...no they don't lol.  Are you serious?  Its because of statements like that that make sure we will always pay more than the RIDICULOUS 60$ before tax for games.  Your OK with paying upwards of 70-80$ and up for one game?  NO game is worth that.  Please tell me you are not OK with this and that you're joking.  When in video game history was it ever OK to do that before this generation?  IT WAS NEVER OK BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER DONE.  There were no after market fixes.  Games capped at 50$.  You got what you got and were damn happy about it.  EVERYTHING that would be considered DLC today was already included in the finished game and that is HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO FU**ING BE.  This generation of gaming almost makes me ashamed to call myself a gamer.

Dragonlordz... please stop being an overeducated fool for once (I'm only saying you ACT like one mind you).
Problem with the game is that it was deceivingly advertised and gamers were misinformed on its core features. It does not live up to what was said the game would be and there are threads with dev quotes vs what we got in the end.

So the copmarison should be: they told you you will get big red ball, what you really got was a small blue square...

Well, all I have to say is: look at what we got! We got a game that thates 30 hours to beat and with multiplayer. Compare that with let's say Assassins Creed which is over in about 6 hours and has no multiplayer.
We DID get a complete game, but as this is Shepards last game, we want much, much more.

So the comparison is not irrelevant. It's just that you'd behave differently.
But if you know the chef is good, you might give him a second chance. You complain to the waiter and get something else instead of getting a refund.
Do you know how wine is served in restaurants ?
You taste it and if it's tainted (cork taint for example), you send it back and get another bottle.

Anyhow, the point is that if you lower your expectations and are willing to pay for anything, industries will make profit with that. You don't mind a badly finished product as long as you can pay to fix it ? Companies are going to love that. Easy money.

Sorry but it still does not work. You are not getting a new pie by buying DLC to improve an element of the game. It is the same pie meaning 95% the same minus the cherry and the cherry being the DLC. If you did not like the pie what good will it do you to buy the same pie again with a cherry on top? They are not going to remake the entire game (pie) for you and especially not for free.

The problem with the 'free DLC ending' crowd is that you're incorrectly viewing Mass Effect 3 as an incomplete product. This isn't a case of the game shipping with an ending that was broken or not included. It had an ending. Just because you didn't like the writing, doesn't mean you get to demand a remake at no cost. You got what you paid for with that initial $60.00 purchase.

Any DLC that alters the ending is an extra: While not quite a sequel, it is adding on to a full & complete story. As such Bioware has a right to charge for it both to cover their own expenses in production, and to make money off of it. At the end of the day Bioware is a business and they aren't creating games just for kicks.

Of course the flip side to that is that gamers are consumers, and some consumers also happen to be cheap fvcks that expect something for nothing.

There was no additional content because because there didn't need to be.  The game was finished.  Additional per say was perfect grounds for a sequel.  Another full fledged stand alone game.  Yes just the core game and that was it.  Perfect as is.  There is no need to make games end up costing upwards of 70-80$ and up.  Its absurd.  DLC is crap.  Just delay the release date (which happens all the time) and put what would be DLC in the damn game and give us the damn finished product FOR 60$.

Well, he can still demand anything he likes. The question is whether the demand will be taken seriously.

I can see a business case for doing a free DLC. But if Bio does it it'll be because they thinkdoing it helps themselves, not because people deserve it or any nonsense like that.
