It's one of the few Quarian males you encounter (and the second one you speak with). He looks cool, has good lines, and its Adam Baldwin, wears red, all of which make him memorable. By no means 'random'. Also, many other 'random' characters reappeared, so why not him? People constantly moan about Shiala, don't they?

Not cool, but not unreasonable. Adam doesn't exactly own the character, and it was only part of a side mission. Love the guy and wish he had been in this, but it doesn't always work out that way.

No but seriously I was a fan of Adam Baldwin long before it was cool.
How could they just decide not to bring him back. No me gusta.

Maybe the character was completely useless? There is no point to bring him back anyway. Imo Bioware's only mistake was wasting money on Adam Baldwin to voice a completely minor character in ME2...

Kal'Reegar? Useless? Get out.

Yeah he was a critical character to the plot, without him there would be no plot in ME... You are delusional.

they could still make some DLC where you can SAVE him while he is doing that mission and then you could never get that message.

see this is what I think also. the email says Kal and his squad died defending the point. They could have a dlc where Kal shows up alive and in enemy custody or something. He was THOUGHT dead because his team all got killed but because of the reaper attack they were  never able to go retrieve the bodies and verify.

Maybe have a giant cerberus base where Kal is being held and you have to rescue him.

Or you get a distress call from an injured and infected Kal calling for help. You have to land and fight through waves of enemies to find your way to him.

There are ways.

Wasn't Mordin's original VA never contacted to return either? I suppose BioWare ran out of budget room after hiring FPJ and modeling Chobot. Damn it. Why game companies think hiring "big names" will result in better sales is beyond me. Fan favorites like Reegar, Shiala, and Emily Wong are shelved for characters we couldn't care less about.

What a joke.

In ME2, I assumed that he was a throwaway character (famous VA or not), but then you got an epilogue with him during the Tali loyalty mission. When you take the time to show a character twice, you imagine that they've got bigger plans for them. In this case, I guess not.

With ME3, I'm starting to believe our imaginations are exceeding Bioware's grasp, I think. A shame, really.

Actually Kal has a reasonable fan base, and fans wanted him as a squad mate for ME3.

where who has to rescue him?  shepard?  shepards dead or stranded on earth and Reeger will either be dead immediately or stranded on earth with nothing to eat.  DLC pointless.

They should've had Kal'Reegar in place of Vega.

Shepard: "Reegar? What are you doing here on Earth?"

Kal'Reegar: "I don't know, but let's get out of here and get help before the Reapers kill us."

*Shepard and Reegar get on the Normandy, say goodbye to Anderson, and fly off*

They recast Mordins voice actor (for seemingly no reason?), does stuff like this really suprise you? I dont know what's going on with Bioware anymore.

Not the only VO talent to receive absolutely no word about coming back for ME3, in spite of character popularity. First Beattie, now Baldwin.

BioWare's line of thinking.

In the left corner, you have Jessica Chobot:
- not a voice actor
- few fans know her
- googling her doesn't help her image (especially googling images)
- quickly reduced to "chick from IGN"
- brings Jersey Shore associations
- her involvement causes controversy and assumptions IGN bought her into cast
- people ask for 'throw Allers into airlock' DLCs

In the right corner, you've got Adam Baldwin
- actor
- Jayne from Firefly, so many fans are already familiar with him and like him
- did video games
- did ME2 and gained popularity among the fans
- his character among the "OMG X FOR SQUADMATE AND LI" ones
- pretty cool guy

So, who do we include in the final act of our space opera?

EDIT: really, BioWare should make the obvious choices more often.

hmm ive never googled her.. apparently she licks things a lot

sometimes i wonder if bioware are trolling its fans

Please explain to me how recruiting Tali is a side mission...

Also, Kal'Reegar is only one out of almost ALL of the side characters that didn't appear. The only side characters that do appear are the annoying fan and the annoying reporter. Every other side character was scrapped, their storylines either completely missing from Mass Effect 3 or handled in an e-mail.

I know there are limitations to making videogames, but they knew beforehand they were making a trilogy, and they knew beforehand these things were going to be important details. This should've been in their project plan, and apart from someone's voice actor actually dying, these character should've been in each game. Not doing this merely shows that they can't handle an even bigger project than a single video game.

I <3 Adam Baldwin, and it's very bad that this happened, but he's not the only one who this happened to, and it's just another symptom in a much bigger problem.

Speaking if VA. did anybody see that they put chobot name 3rd on the list of VA on the credits. They put her before Keith David.

I'm glad they killed Reegar and Wong - made space for my super bestie new favourite character, Diane/a Allers. I love me some shallow, character-lacking space skanks :DDDDDDDDD

Alphabetical order? I'm not looking at the list right now, but C comes before D, doesn't it? And it is pretty high up there on the letter ladder.

I would have prefered this immensely. Reegar is too badass to have to make sense.
