A word of warning: people seem to be expecting the miracle patch that will fix every problem they've ever had with the game, bake cookies, and mop their floor.

Expect something that'll do some nice stuff; no more, no less. We know it's coming soon, but please don't throw a fit when they haven't ironed out that one kink that's been driving you up the wall.

Of course this post is futile.

As long as they fix the freezing issues that alot of people are having. I cant get past landsmeet because the game slows to a halt. Have had this issue in a lot of places, and nothing has helped.

Specifically, they said the patch is all but wrapped. Short of anything disastrous coming up at the last second, it should be out Monday. I'm hoping for some buffs to two-handed wielding. A faster attack speed, even if just slightly, would make a world of difference.

I feel the exact same way!

The game is not playable at all for me and I far exceed the minimum req. I really wish people in the forums would stop acting like it's everyones imagination or something. It isn't.
The game is not playable for a HUGE ammount of people. It sucks and it's unprofessional IMO. It's a recession and they're just taking $50 from people and delivering a very inferior product. <_<

Although i think they should have some sort of weapon speed scaling with strength, I doubt they are going to mess with that just yet.

I think the issues you might see resolved are:
1 Dex Fix (this is for certain)
2 Memory leak problems
3 Certain characters doing wierd crap (Vanishing, repeating same opening dialog, other stuff)
4 Hopefully the random crashing issues.

I think we will have to wait for some of the more "materialistic" non game breaking problems to be fixed. Probably somewhere are the end of January.

I'm more concerned not so much in what they are fixing either in this patch or 1.03, which is all but announced, but rather what support we can expect after 1.03. But until then, I wait eagerly for 1.02. I'm waiting until Monday to start a new playthrough.

I've been playing for a few days, and I have absolutely no issues. I am not using the newest systems to run the game, but I seem to have no problems so far, everything runs smoothly for me, and i have been QUITE happy with it. Just curious...are those who are having trouble, using the newest Windows platform? Perhaps that might be part of the trouble?

First of all... if your having no problems why are you in the troubleshooting section? Just rubbing it in?
And what does it matter which operating system its running on as long as it is compatible? It doesn't say Windows 7 only. IF they had put Windows 7 only, there probably wouldn't be near the problems or post of complaints . But they didnt.. so.

Its not our fault... its theres.

Thats the same as the guys saying "Oh just reformat your hard drive then install DAO because its more special than your other programs which you didnt have to do that for".

I would guess they will keep supporting the game up until people stopped purchasing the DLC. If people keep paying for DLC and expansions I would have to assume the support will remain. Not to mention that given around the time that Bioware does stop supporting the game, there will players creating better patches and fixes.

Forget about a patch. My game runs fine, what are all of you crying about? Regardless, as Offkorn astutely noted, the area resource manager is fundamentally broken, a patch won't help, and can be avoid by reloading every 3 or 4 areas.

The DLC is awesome and not overpriced at all. Keep the programmers working and constantly releasing new DLC instead of a patch because the load time issue is irreparable anyway. DA:O was released for PC at a perfectly acceptable standard of quality relative to other games - Anecdote as evidence: Sometimes the cursor on Pong would stutter. End of discussion.

"Everyone" else isn't having problems. There's a vocal minority of people on these forums that have had trouble running the game, but this is nothing compared to other launches I've witnessed.

If you meet the minimum system requirements, should you be able to play the game? Yes. Do you think demands, scaring off newbies to these forums, or throwing a fit over problems you're having with the game make someone (developer or customer service) genuinely interested in helping you?

The secret answer is this: they'll say they're doing everything they can. They might even help you. But they're going to focus on making you go away, rather than actually helping you out. If you genuinely want a solution, then show some tact.

Don't take it personally, it would seem that he is like that with everyone. I just smile.

As for being scared off, don't let some personalities prevent you from posting any problems you have or request any help. Some of us here actually like to help people with their problems and try to fix confirmed issues, as that is a constructive way to ensure that future patches address issues being documented and tested on this forum.

As opposed to starting threads about three-wheeled cars and other such analogies, which are probably of dubious use to the computer technicians doing the patching.

I addressed what you said when I addressed Matt... because it was the same thing basically.

"my games not broken so stop complaining."

And you have the Enchantment down pat.

No, no you didn't as shown by your post. I don't think that anyone who is not arguing from an entrenched position like your own would interpret my post in the way that you did. I did not ask you to stop complaining, nor did I suggest that your game can not be 'broken' if mine is not. In fact, I have categorically stated that my own experiences with the game are not necessarily your own.

I get that you are angry that the game you bought is not working as you want it to, but my point is that arguing from false facts will actually make your complaint less valid. You simply can not state that buggy games are a modern phenomenon without facts, not can you imply that the reason for said bugs are down to corporate conspiracy without evidence of the fact. Simply stating it, especially in a somewhat smug manner, does not make it so.

I agree with you that the game should be patched if the problems you describe are within Bioware's control. I also feel that you are arguing yourself into a state of disillusionment about a decent game simply because you angry with gaming developers and their publishers.

As a final note, being lazily dismissive of other viewpoints and smugly arrogant in your posting style does not benefit the arguments in your posts.

Very well said.  I just wish people would state their problem, try to give as much information to the developers as possible, and then move on, and leave all the other useless conspiracy theory crap out, or "facts" that have no proof.

Not much point in hurrying a patch so it can fix one or two scenarios yet create a whole 'nother set of issues because it was rushed to appease the few who have legitimate issues.

Half of the problem is that 3/4 of all PC users know next to nothing when it comes to keeping their PC running tip-top and as a result, all the crapware and general bloat that has built up over time contributes to an unhealthy end-user environment and naturally the culprit is the current piece of software that won't run properly as a result. Developers love these people but at least they do bring to light the actual bugs in the software far sooner.

In over 70 hours of gaming the game has crashed just a couple times on me but it runs smooth as butter and loads fast all the time. I've pretty much come to expect a few crashes now and then from any new piece of software and patiently work through it until the developers release a patch. No big deal (unless the piece of software is Sacred 2... then I think someone should die a horrible painful death over at Deep Silver for deep sixing a great product).

Yeah... they need to do it right. Not rush it. Rushing can result in worse problems than we have. Also remember this patch is being produced for three different platforms PC, XBOX360, and PS3. So, it is no easy thing.

As to some issues... I want to warn you guys (from past experience with other games)... they may not have run down all Memory Leak issues as those can be really tough to track down. So, if there is still any form of leak let's simply hope it is VASTLY improved and that they continue to work on whatever needs fixing after that... even if it is further memory leak issues.

OVERALL: For a game launching on 3 platforms this has been one of the most stable games of this complexity I have seen. It has its share of bugs but, in most cases they are not game breaking. I too noticed the memory leak like issues (which may be video RAM related to some people). At first I'd play for 8 or more hours and then quit out and it would take a good 10 to 15 minutes for my machine to free up all the RAM (paging file) and start operating well again. This was bearable. Around 60 hours into the game I started seeing the long load times between area transitions people talk about (anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes) which as others noted seemed to go away if I exited and came back into the game. They were slightly annoying but, did not stop me from playing the game.

I've had several weird video glitches which I resolved by updating my NVIDIA drivers.

I've had three crashes to desktop.

I have the stone prisoner can't talk to Felix issue which Community has provided workaround to until official patch can fix it.

Overall... I am very happy. I know Bioware will fix the above things and do not believe rushing them will help.

SPECS:

Intel Quad Core 9300, 4GB RAM(Reaper), Vista 32Bit, Geforce 9800GTX, 1TB+ Harddrive space

You obviously havent played the game much - lag isnt the only problem. The patch should include bug fixes, not only load times. There is also a problem with the updater, as many people have complained about, so some cant even get the DLC at all! Yours is a useless post, we obviously need a patch so why are you saying no patch is needed?

You know that many bugs don't show up till after release?  And don't call people losers, if you don't know how to spell it, it just makes yourself look like one.
