She was boring in ME3. Also being with IGN isnt helping as they were quick to call most people here entitled brats.
Does anyone else feel sorry for Jessica Chobot?

Pretty much and the fact her character replaced an already well-established character in the franchise.OgFux69 wrote...

I think it is her affiliation with IGN that is causing more hate than her... interesting performance.
Indeed.

She worked so hard to provide a good performance yet failed so miserably and now Bioware fans are ripping her to shreds.
If an employee does a crappy job, I don't get pissed at the employee, I take the blame out on the idiot who hired him or her.
If anything we should be mad at Bioware for hiring such a talentless person to voice a worthless character. We should stop being so mean to Jessica Chobot because even though she sucks, she still probably gave it her all.
Yeah I do. She was probably just excited to get into an awesome game. She doesn't seem so bad. I'm sure everyone here would jump at the opportunity to be in the game! I know I would!

Hell yeah. no one's complaining abotu freddie Prinze jr being Vega, but yet "OMG CHOBOT IS ONLY IN THERE BECAUSE SHE WORKS FOR IGN UGH" double standards.
The difference, of course... Is that Freddy Prinze Jr. did a good job and is actually an actor.
Yep. I'm not fond of Prinze but he played his part well enough.

Well Jesus this thread isn't exactly going to make her feel better.
Doubt she's reading.

I can't play ME3 anymore because the ending is so bad. Couldn't get through a second playthrough. But I might go back just to kick Allers off the ship for being associated with IGN.

As far as Jessica Chobot herself. I don't know the lady and have no feelings about her one way or the other. She does have a point about whiney entitled brats. After following this thread all day I can see some that the statement would apply to. The fact that she is affiliated with IGN seems to be a problem for some people, I couldn't care less. If she were from, let's say Forbes, there would be anywhere near the uproar there is now. The only thing I'm looking at is what she did in ME3.
Her performance wasn't great, however for a first timer at doing this it was actually better than could be expected. It was also better than some of the ones that have been in the game longer. This is all I can judge her on. Using her character instead of the other two is Bioware's fault as is not expanding her character or using hit to better effect.
I'm not condoning whatever she said out of game but I'm not going to condemn her for it either.
And yes I still feel sorry for her. None of us would like having all of this venom shot at us would we?

Here is one thing I wanted to say to her. You can come along, but its likely to get dangerous. Everyone on my ship is a soldier first then whatever job title they bring along. Grab a gun.

you put yourself in the position of being even a minor celeb and you deal with the breaks.
Anything else is like a line-backer who complains they got tackled.

Do I feel sorry for her? No. She didn't deliver, and it's not like what she was tasked with doing was all that difficult. She's playing a JOURNALIST. And she's a JOURNALIST in real life. Talk about whiffing a free throw.
That's why I'm not exactly sure why people think she did a bad job...
I didn't think there was any great emotion in her voice but I'm not sure this is a mark against her since really there is much debate among journalists in how expressive they should be....
I mean, the greatest newscaster of all times is Walter Cronkite and he was FAMOUS for his tone neutral delivery. indeed, what made his Kennedy announcement so moving was seeing the unflappable, monotone Cronkite with emotion in his voice...
If you talked to Allers just before the push to Earth, she does have more emotion in her voice as she talks about how her home colony Bekenstein got wiped out by the reapers...

As for her voice acting, I thought it was just fine. I think people are holding her to some unreasonable high standard.

Her voice acting was meh. The "Wars can be won or lost in the editing room, and this war needs to be won." part really made me cringe, though. Really?

I don't feel sorry for her because anyone that goes for a position that puts you in a spotlight, you better be ready to take the heat that comes with that type of job.
