Don't hate her and had no problem with her in ME3 (dianas rack did have me distracted a bit). As for IGN I don't really care didn't even know she was part of that. As far as I'm concerned she was given an oppertunity which she took good for her, if any of us had been given that chance I'm sure we would have gone for it as well.

Anyway the only ass at IGN is colin.

I have to admit, I liked the Allers character, and I feel Chobot is getting a bum rap.  Alot of the players have found things they did not like about the game as a whole so they have started nit picking.

Things I enjoyed about her:

1. I am a red blooded male so the eye candy is always enjoyed.  For those interested, Allers does seem to be a possible Love Interest.  My Shepard backed off due to Aller's reticence about getting too close to the source of her news.

2. If you actually did have Shepard make the rounds to talk to everybody, she actually did have some fun things to say (Zaeed style mostly).  In fact, Allers seemed to have more to say than Ashley Williams.  I do wish Shepard had had the opportunity to ask Allers about the Elcor she made cry.

3. If you checked the war status once in awhile, you could see where Aller's reports on Shepard's exploits was increasing the number of ground troops the coalition had available.

4. Listening to Allers discuss news topics with her publisher was also a hoot.  If she ever gets out of the news business, she seems to have the makings of a good diplomat.

Well, that's all for now. Image IPB

Since the last few posters appeared to have missed it:

Earlier today:

Jessica Chobot wrote...

and "NO" I haven't finished ME3 yet. " NO" I haven't sexed Diana Allers
(although I plan to) and "NO" I don't want to know anything more about
the babsolutly RIDICULOUS whine-fest that entitled gamers are having
with Bioware

A short time later, no April blog posts.

A little bit later, long apology.

Sorry Jessica, but I don't feel sorry for you.  Damage done.  Maybe when you actually finish the game and experience the ending, we can discuss the difference between art and false advertisng.  And the difference between "entitlement" and legitimate customer complaints.

I dont think she did a bad job at all. I thought the idea of an imbedded reporter was really neat.

I neither like nor dislike her.

I do however question her involvement in ME3, and the conflict of interests that causes with her employers.

She was badly rendered into the game. Seriously, she is a pretty woman and she looks hideous in Mass Effect 3. And she was happy with that?

She may be a great "journalist" (I hesitate to use the word to describe IGNorant employees) but she is a terrible voice actress.

Put that on top of the fact that Diana Allers is a boring do nothing, no body character that Shepard doesn't know and doesn't care about.
Well then you get the hate. Most folks would have MUCH preferred Emily Wong. Hell most of us woulda taken that annoying pain in the ass Kalisah bint Sinan al-Jilani before Diana Allers.

I feel the same way.

I don't see why people dislike her. She's an entirely optional character in Mass Effect 3, and she had apologized for her actions concerning the ending.

The only people who dislike her are bitter people looking to complain about anything at this point.

I don't like IGN. But I felt sorry for her when she said in her apology post that she was very hurt by the reaction people gave when she was announced as a cameo for ME3. I may not agree with IGN, but she's human to. I felt bad after reading that part.

What is all this "she was a terrible voice actress" tripe? She was fine.

I loved the Battlespace element to the game. More specifically, I liked being the war legend who was making statements to the greater galactic community at a critical time, when people needed to hear from someone they could believe in and who was doing something. I liked answering the hard questions and coming across like someone who knew what they were doing and had a solid air of command whether they were on the battlefield or before a camera.

Allers as a character never flourished, but the interviews I enjoyed.

I don't dislike her, but I agree her affiliation with IGN didn't help when they started calling us entitled brats and such. It's just a massive conflict of interest between being an honest game journalist, and working for the game that you're defending.

Her character didn't bother me at all. She was a rather superfluous character, but she didn't really take/add anything to the overall experience.

Nah, this is what happens when IGN/Chobot start getting in bed with the developers instead of with their true customers, the fanbase who purchase this.

IGN is so full of crap and so is Chobot. They deserve all the backlash they receive for many reasons, least of which is how they let themselves be purchased for money when they are supposed to be impartial.

And Chobot is not impartial at all, straight from her mouth.

She got a paycheck, so no I don't feel sorry for her. I don't really care for the role she had, and I wished what little budget went into her character/role could of gone to other minor characters such as Kal'Reegar, Shiala, Gianna Parsianni, Emily Wong, etc.

The concept was cool and the character was good for a few paragon/renegade points which made sense in the context of the story. And Jessica Chobots did an OK job, nothing special, nothing to hate. My biggest concern though is I'm not sure if having a member of the mainstream gaming press play a character in a game and then reporting on that game is such a good idea. Or very ethical. And anyone who wants to say she's not a memeber of the mainstream gaming press just look for IGN content on the Xbox Live video channel. That's how I knew she was in the game.

I don't hate her, or her character. I just found her poorly voiced and entirely unnecessary.

Then again, I am biased. IGN was quite rude to the entire Mass Effect fanbase, and every time I saw Allers I could only think "It should've been Emily Wong".

I like Jessica Chobot as a presenter. Since this is her first VA role I'll cut her some slack. Everyone's always learning something new. My issue is this role, in another perspective, could have been fulfilled by an existing character who has been there since ME1 - Al-Jilani.

Just imagine all that grating tension between Shepard and her. It would've made for some interesting back and forth drama, and could have taken a nice twist in some form of resolution after Khalisah starts to understand things better in another viewpoint being aboard the Normandy (that would mean we discount her appearance on the Citadel in that situation, but in exchange she plays an extended role in the game). Just like how Pressly slowly changed his perception of non-humans.

On the other hand, if they were trying to ramp up some sex appeal with a bit character, they could have chosen to make a truly fantastic model that's inspired instead of trying to go for a likeness to a real life person and picked a more experienced VA in my opinion. Bioware could have ended up with a more engaging voice on a super sexy reporter character... minus the automatic marketing appeal Jess already has from a purely business perspective.

In any case, doesn't make it right or wrong if you like her work on this or not; these ARE preferences right? I'm just thinking what other cool stuff could have made it into the game or be in place instead of her inclusion (on the hypothesis of course that her exclusion is not mutually exclusive from Bioware having more time and resources to include something else in).

Okay, I gotta get this off my chest. I'm usually far from the first guy who cries "sexism" when a person with a vagina gets called out on her BS, but it's gotten to the point here where it actually bothers me.

The vast majority of the dismissive and/or insulting comments made on IGN about the fan reaction to the ME3 ending came from one person: Colin Moriarty. And he wasn't hiding the fact that it was him, either. But the general reaction to this on here was to say IGN said this, IGN did this, and we think it's insulting and we disagree. Which, y'know, is good, because that way you don't descend into personal attacks and get your thread locked.

Along comes Jessica Chobot with one off-hand comment in a blog, and suddenly everyone's all over her, and the criticisms shift almost immediately from what she actually said to her appearance, the PSP licking picture, calling her a "tramp" and all sorts of other stuff aimed not at her opinion, but at the fact that she's a woman and a lot of people find her attractive.

This, kids, is the textbook definition of sexism. Don't like something a woman did, attack her because she's a woman instead of focusing on the issue at hand. Which is a) that she made that comment (which she has now retracted) while fully admitting she hadn't even finished the game yet and B) her voice acting is the worst performance in pretty much any ME game ever. Neither of these things necessarily have anything to do with the fact that you think she's a "tramp". And if you keep bringing that up, it says a lot more about you than her.

White knight mode: disengage.

*cough*
