Nope. She performed miserably. I hate Khalisah ben Sinan al Jilani, but I would prefer her onboard the Normandy. At least Khalisah has the "certain something" Chobot character lacks.

Khalisah would be really interesting to have on the Normandy!

I really would like to know, who came up with this on Bioware's end. The character serves no purpose, has no reason of being in the game, doesn't fit...if I had to guess, I would say there has to be a delicate story behind this.

Much ado about nothing. Just don't recruit her. Her war assets are insignificant anyway.

I've nothing against the lass myself, and I don't particularly hate Diana Allers. I just found her pointless. It was a role that could easily have been filled by Emily Wong, but it seems like Bioware succumbed to "Sonic Syndrome" (I'm sure it happens in other media, but it's the most relevant game-related example I can think of), that odd malady where writers create a new character for a role that an old one could fill just as well.

In fairness, this is all on Bioware. Be honest. If you were in Chobot's position and Bioware offered to give you a character that gets to join Shepard on the ship... who. would. say. no? I, for one, would jump on it. (And then be horribly embarrassed by how awful I did)

Chobot used nerd appeal to get that spot.
looks like her using the fans for appeal is stabbing her in the side and thank god for that.
She will eventually move onto to other things like olivia munn.
Another fake gamer/nerdy chick

...and Bioware said yes and thought it was a great idea.  Point being, this is all on Bioware.... who also decided it would be "OH DRAMATIC" to kill of Emily Wong via Twitter.

I really don't see why people hate the character so much. I did not know she was an IGN employee before I started playing and I saw nothing wrong with the character.

Perhaps she should have been a bit more lively in the conversations were she was not reporting, but a neutral voice when reporting seems logical to me.

I didn't hate the character, I just think BW missed the opportunity to use Emily Wong and went with star power

Oh wait no, that was their "artistic integrity"

No, she had no business being in the game in the first place. Then to top it off she gave a really terrible performance. This is what happens when performers give bad performances, they are criticized.

Hold the line.

I think for an "Ascended Fangirl" she did OK. I think it's the IGN connection that did the most damage to her, not the VA. As a character, Allers wasn't particularly interesting, and I'm rather incensed that they killed Emily Wong to put her on board, but she also didn't ruin anything. Sort of a superfluous decoration, yes, but so what?

I'm indifferent. My Shepard will talk to her to get her to stop harassing his crew, allow her aboard for the war asset and reject her advance.

I also don't see how she did a bad job, her VA work was average to me, nothing particularly bad or better than the rest of the cast.

She gets some extra dialogue about Shep's actions, seems like a plus to me

Nope.
She is not a gamer.
She is not a nerd.
She is not a geek.
She is just someone putting herself out there in the gaming community like Olivia Munn [who is also not a nerd or gamer] that used nerd appeal to become famous to get into acting/modeling.

Her assets are worth jack nothing.

i am so glad she ends up dead after you kick her off the ship/don't recruit her.
Makes me wonder if you threw her out airlock.

Im going to repeat this from my first post. You say she's not a gamer?...well, she has a tattoo of the triforce from Legend of Zelda on her arm. I hardly think a non gamer would have a permanent marking on herself related to a video game if she wasn't a gamer. She does play games, she is a self confessed nerd, and tech lover, so I hardly think you saying she's not, when she says she is, holds much water. Ive read interviews with her where she talks about her love for gaming.

I don't get what is wrong with her at all. I don't think Jessica did a bad job nor do I not like allers. Still would have prefered Wong or the other one I always punch.

that would have been great, punch her again then ask her to be embedded reporter, constant bickering constant fighting make her walk the plank.

ahaha, that would be great. So many good things are wasted...
And another one - BioWare made new model for this out-of-the-blue-reporter (i had no idea who she is), but Tali recieved only lazy photoshoped stock foto. I clearly cant see their resons. Oh, wait, they are damned capitalists.

I could not stand her VA job, it was just so grating. I could practically hear her looking down at her lines as she read them off.

I feel sorry for her. I mean who would have guessed that someone famous for licking things is not really the best person for a role? How would anyone foresee a person who works for a "review" site being hired by a reviewee causing issues? And for the sake of all thats good how could it ever be known that overlooking or killing off other NPCs that were in place from game one to make a spot for her to muck up would be seen as cheap and petty?

To bad I enjoyed the extra dialogue, and like Shep getting to show his views on things to the public

I didn't hate her. Her model has very... interesting curves, and she sounds like a reporter who is in WAAAAAAYYYY over her head.

Furthermore, you can actually tell her go away, and she does.

Not sure why all the hate, other than the fact that she works for IGN and IGN is a paid employee of EA (and all other major publishers).

Anyone who reads IGN and expects to get an objective opinion is an idiot.

I have nothing personal against Chobot. The Allers character is built on bad writing and was shoehorned in, and that fault lies with Bioware. If they wanted to do the war reporter angle they should have used Al Jilani or Wong depending on if your character was a paragon or renegade.

Also, her character model was absolutely hideous. I mean really, really fugly.

Actually I do feel sorry for her. I have no problem with Allers. They should have done more with the character. The acting wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. Until I got on the forums I didn't know she was affiliated with IGN so that isn't an issue for me either.

The main problem I have with her and Vega is that some people just out right despise them just because they were introduced in ME3 at the perceived expense of including ME2 team mates.

While I personally would have liked to have had some of my former cohorts on board I like what they did with them and understand why they couldn't be there. Allers, Vega and Ash had good potential that was wasted.

Sorry for the side track but Yes I do feel sorry for Jessica Chobot. A lot on the venom be spewed at her is totally uncalled for.
