It also has a lot to do with bioware killing already established characters via twitter...whoever thought that's good story telling is delusional, introduce some half-baked reporter while killing off another just so you can introduce a "fan service". Seriously...taking the laziest route possible, ****ing telling parts of a story you pay for through twitter so they didn't have to put it ingame

So why all the fuss about her or her character, when her voice acting performance was adequate and her character non-essential and unimportant? I barely ever talked to Diana Allers and mostly just forgot she even existed, despite my making a point to talk to all my crewmates at the end of each mission.

She was annoying and they already had a really great reporter that they could have used for that spot (Emily Wong), but they decided to kill her off on Twitter. ON TWITTER!!!

Mostly I'm just upset that they didn't use Emily, who would have been vastly better for the role.

You are now just realizing more effort was put into Jessica Chobot, rather than Tali's unmasking/face.

Just your daily reminder :)

Is your real name Harbinger? Because that hurt. I hadn't considered that before, but it's really, really depressing.

The thing that irked me to death is they wasted all that time and money rendering *her* when they could have spent that same time and money rendering Tali's face.

Liz Sroka, Tali's voice actor, is pretty in my opinion, and has a facial structure that would fit well in that quarian helmet.

Diana Allers was a useless character. I'd have rather had Emily Wong, or hell, even Khalisah al-Jilani. At least there would have been some drama there, and not Aller's incessant attempts to get in Shepard's pants every interview.

Honestly I would have to say the following:

1. Liara has been an irritant to me since ME1.

2. Hear voice acting has always been annoying with it becoming just plain bad in ME3. (I feel Ali Hillis did a very poor job)

3. She is forced on us in ME3 to the point of me wanting to toss her out the airlock.

4. Her character progression from ME1 to ME3 is just WTF.

This is all in MY opinion. I know that there or others that like the character and what they've done with her and I respect that. I just wish we could have killed her off in the suicide mission in ME2.

I wouldn't go that far but BW were clearly too obsessed with Liara. I'll stick myself in front of the flames to add that I was never that impressed with her VA either, although I've nothing much against the character (she's in the top half at least). I was hoping she'd be better acted in ME3 because I thought she had improved significantly in Lair of the Shadow Broker, particularly in the random banter between her and Shepard.

To be fair, Mac Walters went on to kill the 13.2 million people on the Citadel + refugees by Twitter.
Probably the world record for most character deaths by tweet ever.

I thought it was kind of a weird and unnecessary decision on BioWare's part. Like a previous poster said, I had no idea Emily Wong had been killed off on Twitter and kept wondering when I'd see or hear about her in-game. Don't have any terribly strong feelings about Chobot herself, since I've never really followed IGN.

That said, I did find this inexplicably amusing.

Oh god I needed that :lol::lol:

Worthless character.

The problem comes from the simple fact the effort put into putting that character in reeks of something going on. Random character that magically gets face-scanned into the game and seemingly comes from a review site. Except... this character effectively does nothing hand has little impact on the game.

Every other character that has been face-scanned or had that much effort put in has had a major contribution either as being a Squadmate or key role. Throw in the added BS of Tali being reduced to a rubbish photo while IGN Nobody gets a lot more work. Seems a bit bizzare for the Dev team to put so much effort into adding one useless nobody over real content unless some deals were taking place.

I had never heard of her before this whole thing. I went and looked up one of her review thingies, just to see if she always sounds like she does in the game, and she doesn't. If she'd just voiced her character with a bit more animation, it would have come off much better to me. Still, I felt her voice work was adequate. Not great, but not terrible. It did the job.

But if I had the chance to do voicework in Mass Effect 3, I would have jumped all over that. Would I have been great, or even adequate? I have no idea, but you better believe I would have given it a try.

As for the use of Allers vs. killing off Emily Wong and barely using al-Jilani, I don't know that it was the greatest decision, but eh. And that was certainly not her fault. So, yes, I do feel bad for her. Maybe this wasn't the most amazing voicework I've heard, but it was okay; I can't blame her for getting in the game; and all the other problems with Allers and the game as a whole have nothing to do with her, so she's getting undeserved vitriol.

Its stuff like that that says to me "we stopped caring, just hurry up and finish the game".

Isn't that similar to the big turtle on Neverending story?  We don't even care wether not we care?

diana allers didnt really bug me that much cuz i really didnt care about her at all but after reading this post and realizing how true it is i am really pissed off. come on bioware according to your all important "artistic integrity" forcing a new character into me3 that contributes nothing to the story is more important than a major revelation from a beloved character that has been in the series from the beginning. Really?

I too didn't know who this person was (and although I now know what she does, I still don't know who she is), but I can't see why she was ever added to the game. The character was clearly created to insert the person into the game, but the performance is just not worth that kind of effort, so I'm left wondering why this decision was made.

I make fun of the character because she's so ridiculous. It's not an attack of the person playing the part. The fault lies with the people who thought this was a good idea.

He locked a thread of mine on the PS3 technical board for posting this:

It's on their Alliance News Network Twitter profile. She was reporting the attack on Earth and rams her vehicle into a Reaper after getting shot. Admittedly, a badass way to go, but it was... on Twitter.

No. I think some of the comments have been way too vicious. But she was dumb to get involved in this project if she knew she couldn't act very well. I mean I know how to do a handstand and a backflip, that doesn't mean I'm ready to go star in Cirque du Soliel.

Wasn't that him answering a question though?  Yes, it should have been in the game, but people shouldn't be using this in the same manner as the Emily Wong issue.  Her death was planned for Twitter.  This was just an answer to a question.
