Shouldn't a better strategy been to pretend to aid Shepard and then betray him once the crucible was complete?
Honestly, I thought the idea that the Reapers actually could be controlled was stupid. I figured The Illusive Man was delusional and believing irrational things much like Saren did thinking the Reapers would show mercy because of indoctrination.
If the crucible were the key to controlling the Reapers, why did TIM try to strop Shepard?
