I remember the controversy involving Infinity Ward's "No Russian" mission in MW2, and it was in foreign countries where sex is very open that had the biggest problem with it because you, as a player, are engaged in the act of killing innocent civilians in a terrorist act. The uproar over the game was more muted in the US - I believe there was more controversy surrounding Mass Effect's alien sex scene.

It's amazing how the US just embraces and accepts wanton violence yet reacts in horror over boobs.

interestingly enough, when somone modded the camera to further wider shots the love scene, liara is indeed completely naked and not with painted on undies...

and they can somehow avoid " too much"

yet cant in other scenes.

hell the shower scene alone is funny, there is the classic film tricks of bare hip, stomace, bare calves, bare back or shoulders, more than enough to suggest without showing, .

I don't care much, though the " lol, nobody does that" did cross my mind and made me laugh slightly on the inside.

I have not seen this shower scene, but I have to wonder if they were never able to get the morphing correct with the female nude. Let's face it. Breasts in the brazier move differently than out of one ... or were you unaware of that?

I have to concur with a previous poster that they can avoid all that with creative camera angles.

Bioware need to add more nudity, seriously. This game is 18+ not -12. Kids should not play this game at all since it's rated mature.

The whole scene was kind of stupid, anyway. For an uncomfortable moment I felt like I'd somehow been forced into a weird porno flick, right at the beginning where they set the scene up for two women to be naked together. "Hey, wanna take a shower in my bathroom, woman I just met?" If I were Traynor I'd be a little weirded out that a complete stranger was offering for me to get naked and wet in their private quarters.

Maybe I'm just paranoid. But I did find it ridiculous that she was wearing her underwear. Seriously? America is just stupid when it comes to sex.

I think the biggest problem in the game was actually the lack of creativity with a lot of things.

For instance, the picture of Tali, the showering in underwear when you could have shown just as little flesh with a steamed up shower block. A lot of scenes felt tacked on and rushed, although obviously some were very good.

Bioware are cowards.  It's rated M.  We are adults.  The last time someone flipped out about nudity in ME the news guys complaining became a laughing stock.  Heavy Rain had nudity with no backlash.  It's not uncommon anymore.  Bioware needs to quit being "artistic" and, if the scene calls for nudity, have nudity.  It doesn't have to be gratuitous.  Heck, it can be as tame as the Liara scene in ME1 and ME3 and I'd be fine.  But the forced underwear is just stupid.

Ha! I'm not surprised, just disappointed at peoples' general immaturity. Anyone else remember the outrage certain people had over the sex scenes in ME1 where you got the nudie silhouettes? If you don't like it, then read the federally-mandated ratings on the boxes before you buy games for your kids and leave everyone else who can handle PRETEND sexual situations in games like adults alone.

As for this thread in general: LOL! See, I turned Traynor's shower hanky-panky down (why you would hit on my Shep when I'm clearly fangirling over Garrus is beyond me, silly NPC), but now I will have to watch YouTube to see the prudery I missed out on. Awesome.

Been wondering this myself. In ME1 if you romance Liara there is actual, proper nudity going on (even if Shepard gets his clothes on hellishly fast afterwards...), Me2 and romance Jack? Nope, clothes still on. Traynor and shower? Clothes. And there's probably plenty of things I've missed. I mean the only one who has an excuse is Tali...

And if they're that afraid of nudity just pull a "fade to black", it's not nearly as ridiculous.
