It's not Fox that worries them, controversy would be good PR. It's companies like WalMart not stocking the game that worries them.

Also ESRB ratings are a voluntary industry thing, like movie ratings. They were created to avoid laws being made.

It is ridiculous though. I'm not sure what innocence they think they are protecting. It's not like the internet is all porn-free. (Free porn?). That ship sailed a long time ago.

interestingly enough, when somone modded the camera to further wider shots the love scene, liara is indeed completely naked and not with painted on undies...

and they can somehow avoid " too much"

yet cant in other scenes.

hell the shower scene alone is funny, there is the classic film tricks of bare hip, stomace, bare calves, bare back or shoulders, more than enough to suggest without showing, .

I don't care much, though the " lol, nobody does that" did cross my mind and made me laugh slightly on the inside.

I've only romances Liara through the entire trilogy.....so when my buddy told me that Ashley and Traynor wear lingerie in their scenes, I was just like "wtf? Liara is always naked with me!" Lol

We determined that it was because Liara was blue and alien, therefore and can't be construed as "too realistic" and that the general public would know that there's no such thing as a sexy blue alien, so its fake and harmless...and the human characters are clothed because they are more related to real life....

Either way its stupid.....they could absolutely have done tasteful camera angles showing no nudity, yet also making it obvious that the character is naked....cable television does it all the time....MTV is basically soft-core porn. And that's all kids watch when they get out of school....the youth of this country has been tainted a long while now, yet certain news outlets blame videogames all of the sudden

But seriously, in Liara's scene you get to see a lot of skin if I recall correctly. Like almost everything but nipple, even more than the ME1 scene that everyone complained about.

Blame the parents who can't seem to read the ratings on the boxes, then go OMFG WHAT IS THAT, TIMMY TURN IT OFF and blame the company for infecting their impressionable young minds. Heck, I think the industry was better off when you could just buy games w/o being carded like you're doing something illegally. Glad I'm old enough now where it hasn't been an issue for years.

Yeah, this was pretty silly. As others have said, suitable "camera angles" could've handled this. As it is, it's just comical.

Liara scene suggests that there's no problem with naked models, so long as the right camera angles are used. Soooo.... no clue why the hell this scene is the way it is.

Interestingly enough, children would not be remotely interested in a nipple.

However, they would probably wonder why mummy is standing in the shower with her clothes on.

I saw the shower scene on youtube, and literally LOLed as hard as I could. If they could make a nude model for Liara, but hide the goods, they can CERTAINLY do the same with Traynor and Femshep.

I don't know if my "dragonage awakening" was bugged or so, but I remember taking off my armor and seeing an erect penis on my dwarf male. In origins he was wearing boxers, in awakening he had taken viagra

So yeah Bioware is just all over the place when it comes to nudity.  

Maybe this scene was done by the 12year old, who came up with the ending?

Sorry buddy, but your femshep is straight..... apparently....  as long as BW officially do not call them "females" then your femshep is straight, even if they look like females , speak like females, and have vaginas.

Does it make it less hot for you knowing that officially it is not a lesbian  scene?

Eh, in terms of manequin looks, that never really works. If you have boobs it looks like a girl. If it doesn't it looks like a guy. The only way to do 'monogendered' is to have it be a completely seperate race. As in something like Solarians, the squid people, or the krogan. Since they are unique phsyiologies and we have nothing to compare to what they 'should' look like, there is no sex association. Doesn't work when you use a human and paint em a new color though.

There is no excuse for this scene at all. Liara is butt naked in her romance scene and they did a good job with the camera angles for her. They could have done the same for Sam.

DA2 and ME3 were both a let down in the romance area because of all the ridiculous underwear scenes. They were so unrealistic. I realize Bioware can't use a "full monty" because of the rating restrictions but they really should loosen up a bit.

I cannot remember the reference, but I have seen this done in some old movie/anime, you have flat chested women models, but you do not say they look like men only because of that, likewise, if you choose a shape of chest close enough to both gender you can confuse the viewer enough to make up its mind on wethere or not it looks more like a girl or a man.

Good designers can achieve this... but this was not done out of laziness, but out of "I want to make money, not realism, let's put a lesbian race instead of a unattractive (to us) race that makes more sense".

But what im not buying is Traynor taking an actual shower with her underwear on. If they dont want to show boobs then fine. But then adjust your camera angles accordingly so we dont have to see the underwear either.

As the OP put it
