When I first experienced the scene the only thing going through my mind was this looks like it was made to be used with a nude mod. In fact i'd suggest that the scenes once were nude but may have been censored and the models were forced to have underwear on.

In a way that completely avoided any meaningful breaking of censorship, since you can see any part of a woman you want and that's perfectly lovely as long as you don't see (GASP!) a MAN naked! Oh, no, that would be terrible. Because everyone knows that society would collapse from an avalanche of gay conversions if (SHUDDER!) Geralt actually had sex whilst naked! Insert Chuck Norris-style joke here!

The Witcher 2 is one of the greatest culprits, since--like Traynor--Geralt has sex and takes a bath with his clothes on. Hell, he's wearing pants, not even just underwear.

There is this hilarious double standard. Notice how everyone says, "boobs" and "women" and "a nude woman" in these arguments and almost no one (if anyone) ever mentions men or their assets. Because those things are obviously evil, unlike breasts!

Maybe some of these soccer moms that people love to deride lived in a society where they could see that admiration of a nude body doesn't have to preclude respect for the person it belongs to--partly because media were equally generous to both male-attracted and female-attracted viewers, so they too can have a few little thrills and not just their teenage sons--then perhaps they would loosen up a little.

And before anybody asks, no, I don't have or want kids. I just think that change in society is only going to come when the issue stops being about how only women must be allowed to be naked. I think this censorship of female desires is directly related to the perception of women being sexless--rather than it actually being true, women just think they have to pretend they are if they want to be taken seriously in certain contexts. That should change. Then there would be fewer uptight women to complain about nudity in general because they would be seeing a picture of equal opportunity nudity, rather than just exploitation of their gender.

Realism only works if it works for both men and women. If one of the sexes remains clothed... well, that's both fetishy and unfair.

I'm personally not at all afraid of tasteful nudity--I don't at all mind if gentlemen and lesbians have the chance to admire the female form if I, other women, and gay men also have the chance to admire the male form. Mass Effect 1 wasn't bad on that count. Too bad Fox... well, everyone knows. *sigh*

Besides, on a serious note, there's a difference between a woman's upper-chest lump and plain views of genitilia. At least I am pretty sure something on the ratings board for most mediums distinguish the difference between the too. Hoo-hoos and wee-wees are on a different class of distinction than boobies.

Also, Geralt's such a ninja, he probably slipped out of them in the water, cause he's pro like that.

Heavy-handed conversations calling for artistic expression and naturalism are usually coded to mean 'I just want to see boobs, no peen/men need apply thx.'  If we're going to talk nudity, artistic expression, naturalism, and a safe place without shame, then it needs to be an all-encompassing discussion.  Not a pick-and-choose gender/erotic body parts one.

Nope.  Only if the peen is erect will it draw censorship and elevated AO-ish ratings.  There are many games already that have shown (limp) peen and nude men without getting a rating beyond Mature.  Even the ridiculous floppy peen Lucifer boss fight in Dante's Inferno, complete with jiggly peen physics, did not get any explicit rating issues. 

Boobs are an eroticized part of the body, just as much as genitals are.  There is no difference in ratings issues between boobs to limp peen, nor should there be.  A naked body is a naked body.

Mostly because of regional censorship. Countries like Singapore and Saudi Arabia ban anything with a nipple. Even though a game can show full-frontal nudity and still get an M rating, other countries won't allow the game to be sold.

Let them complain. It would only give the game more exposure so that people will want to play it.

Nobody wants to actually take any responsibility for what their kids see. They just want to blame others for their failings.

This.  A million times this.  I get so sick of hearing about parents blaming everything and anything for corrupting their kinds.  It is a parent's responsibility to keep unwanted elements from their children.

Of course, I think more parents should be like my roomates.  They are really open to their daughter about sex. They talk about it with her all the time.  They know that unless they keep her in a locked room with barred windows and wearing a chastity belt, that she is going to have sex.  So instead of drilling it into her head about how dirty and evil it is, they teach her about emotions and feeling and safe sex.  That is the kind of parenting that we need to see more of.  Because then this prudish attitude in this country can stop forcing cheesy scenes in our videon games.

And no my friends are not hippies, lol.

Unlike ME1's news media controversy, I don't think this had anything to do with bad publicity. I do think it had everything to do with companies like Wal-Mart not stocking it if it had nudity in it. No developer is going to limit their sales like that.

So, don't blame conservative America or media on this one. Blame EA.

It's not Fox that worries them, controversy would be good PR. It's companies like WalMart not stocking the game that worries them.

Also ESRB ratings are a voluntary industry thing, like movie ratings. They were created to avoid laws being made.

It is ridiculous though. I'm not sure what innocence they think they are protecting. It's not like the internet is all porn-free. (Free porn?). That ship sailed a long time ago.

Ahh Wal-mart would not refuse to sell it, not ME.  It is to big for them to try and be all principled.  Smaller games yes, but not a huge franchise like Mass Effect.
