I know people may say "why would i want to waste 10 minutes of my life staring at an install screen while my HDD is clogged up with full fat game code?" but I was actually surprised that BioWare didn't get PS3 users to install. Personally, I think the 10 minutes i'd spend intalling the game would be worth the 50+ hours of smoother gameplay that would come out of it. Mass Effect 2 had a mammoth half hour install and it was incredibly smooth to the point where ME3's performance seems like a step back. I don't know if its possible to patch even an optional install (like Gran Turismo 5) into the game, but whether you simply stream textures from the hard drive (loads of texture pop in) or dump/cache half the game files onto the hard drive (may reduce the frame rate issues and lag currently experienced or maybe not) it would probably improve the game's performance...

When Bayonetta came out for the PS3 the frame rate was atrocious and the developers were forced to patch in the option to install pretty promptly. The change was huge. However the big difference was reviewers trashed the PS3 version for it (including IGN funnily enough) so they certainly had more of a motivation to change it.

From my experience, IGN just copy/pastes most of their reviews and then hits ctrl+F -> replace -> "xbox 360" to "PS3" unless it's absolutely shocking on PS3 (as multiplats usually are unfortunately)...

I won't be playing Mass Effect 3, or any Bioware game, until they add an option to install for the PS3. I can't even play the game much less complain about the ending. The disc gets pretty hot after an hour or so of playing and my PS3 makes bad noises. Besides the crappy framerate.

I'm just going to vote with my money and never buy a Bioware game again until something is done to make the game playable on PS3.

I know several other people that bought Mass Effect 3 for PS3 and have had problems with their PS3 after playing ME3. One person I know had the game crash in a loading screen and had all their game saves for ME3 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning become corrupted. He had to start both games over from the beginning. He isn't playing ME3 again until there's an install option too.

So myself and a few other people I know are boycotting Bioware until the PS3 version of Mass Effect 3 is fixed. So considering Bioware's record for fixing their games for PS3, I'll never be buying a Bioware game again.
