Maybe she shouldn't be insulting to people before she ventures into what people are actually upset about?

There is nothing wrong with being sick and tired of people talking down to you for daring to have a differing opinion. Especially when you haven't even finished the game and can't form an educated decision on it yet.

Ok you might have not threatened people.  Or sent cakes.  Or partook in that disgusting abuse of a childrens charity thing that went on.  But at the end of the day you said you work 40+ hours a week right?

So I'm talking to an adult right?

An adult... who has spent a month... complaining about the end of a videogame.

Jessica Chobot called people entitled and said that people were guilty of a ridiculous whinefest.  Go take a step back and look at things that have happened and been said... over a video game.

It's like spoilt kids or something, i find it really funny how people are legit upset over something.  God knows what would happen if something important happened.

If you guys put the energy into opposing government policies and things that you do into the ending of a videogame, think of how better the world could be.

Please don't act like you are being any more constructive. From looking at your posts, you have spent a month complaining about complainers. Maybe you haven't, but I just judged you like how you're judging everyone in this thread who doesn't agree with you.

The retake crowd are not what's ruining the community. All is fine until a few overly-hostile instigaters from the pro-ending crowd come in with their insulting flame bait posts.

I've seen a large number of respectful disagreements from those in favor of the ending. But what you're doing is trying to divide people. Maybe you should calm down a little bit. You have a minority opinion. I understand how overwhelming that must feel but there's no need to lash out at everyone who doesn't hold your opinion.

On this forum it may seem like a minority opinion, but in actuality, i'd say the majority of people in the world would think you're all being a little extreme over a videogame lol :)

Jessica chobot is right.  Retake, in their very sigs, demand a new ending.  That is entitlement.  And the way they've gone about it?  That is whining.  Like it or not, her assessment cannot really be argued with.

That is fictitious. The original people behind RTM didn't want a new ending to be made and implemented. That's just something that they have had to run with when the majority of the people that joined were to stupid to be able to actually argue anything for or against the ending.

The very select few that support RTM and post on the forums don't want a new ending. They just want the issue's with the ending fixed.

You do realise she robbed herself of that opportunity when she started making stupid comments?
Why exactly couldn't she say "Like I said I haven't seen the ending, I don't know whether this controversy is justified or not."?

The reason why is because she is arrogant, narcissistic, and professionally incompetent.

Let's strip it down to the bare essentials. Complained over a product not rising up to many peoples expectations. A product costing between 60 and 80 bucks, which is by all accounts a lot of dosh. People should feel entitled, in fact the word entitlement is subject to a similiar rape like the word liberal in the American language. The moment people put up and shut up about a products quality, the industry has absolutely free reign because they get away with everything, not just games.

Who's to say that the same people don't find the same energy when it comes to politics? In fact, the same logic applies. Shut up and put up means you're totally OK with whatever is shoved down your throat.

I don't endorse lunatics making threats, but I wholeheartedly support anyone taking a stance, even if its over something as trivial as video games. I've been working in media and PR for the better part of 20 years and whilst I make a living from that I came to loathe the results: The sheep, eagerly gobbling up whatever beautiful empty words the industry shoves their way.

Because regardless if a person has seen the ending or not it still doesn't justify this gross over reaction and self entitlement.

Again it's entitledment when Bioware describes fans as co creators? No when you infer to the fanbase their voice means something it is not entitledment when they hold you up to that and voice they don't like what you wrote. Entitledment would be a situation where I don't lead up those expectations and you demand them out of nowhere.

And the way they've gone about it?

  That is whining.

You  mean complaining which Bioware, lauding the fans off as co creators encouraged them to do.

Like it or not, her assessment cannot really be argued with.

She hasn't finished the game.

Let's say this again several times and maybe her supporters will grasp the fact.

She hasn't finished the game.
She hasn't finished the game.
She hasn't finished the game.
She hasn't finished the game.
She hasn't finished the game.
She hasn't finished the game.
SHE HASN'T FINISHED THE GAME!

She has no valid assessment of people's reactions towards the ending. Stop hiding behind her because it only makes you look worse here.

She wouldn't do that. She knows what's coming next... Jennifer Hale has been in some of the best video games ever made. Infact, she's in my all time favourite. What has that got to do with anything? I think she can sympethise for us.

...Well, not really, but you get the idea.

Jennifer Hale doesn't play the games, and she strikes me as an intelligent, classy person who wouldn't be so crass as to comment on something she knows little about.
Mark Meer on the other hand does play the games, and from what I gather is at least sympathetic to us.

Didn't she say she started playing them once, but ended up horseback riding/rock-climbing? That (and the fact she was basically my childhood) amount of awesomeness is enough for me to forgive her for any tongue-lashing she could possibly mete out. But yes, I doubt either Meer or Hale would be unwise enough to start launching incendiaries given their amount of professionalism. I don't agree with the crucifixion I'm seeing in this thread, but one has to wonder why Chobot would think it's a good idea as a both a journalist (LOL IGN) and someone who was in the game to give a public opinion either for or against. She's already compromised as is, it just adds another layer of silliness in light of the fact she hasn't actually finished the game herself.

Jessica chobot : An entitled group of gamers are having a ridiculous whine fest at Bioware.

Go look around the forums. Is she really wrong?

Yes. She's wrong. And all you're doing is piggybacking her insult.

Tell me how is she wrong? Almost every thread is someone whining about how Bioware isn't cool anymore or about how starchild doesn't make sense or about colours.

And the majority of people believe they should get a new ending and they should get it free.

Whining and entitled seems quite spot on to me.

You are the person who once wrote that you were glad if Steve got killed, because he was gay.
Hate speech above all else is something I won't stand for. I do not take ANYTHING you say seriously.

I KNEW I recognized his forum name.  Thanks for reminding me.
I'm with you.  Anyone who makes a hate statement like that doesn't deserve
my serious attention  And guys, remember most of those calling us
entitled, whiny, petulant etc are hoping we will respond in a manner they think
will validate their statement.  Remember, don't feed the trolls.

Concerning Miss Chobot; surprised she is that unprofessional on her
professional blog (not her twitter).  One would think she would at least
finish the game and do a little research before making such a statement.
It makes me wonder.  Someone earlier mentioned IGN generates revenue by
the number of hits.   I suspect she was purposefully inflammatory in
order to incite this exact type of reaction, thus giving IGN plenty of site
visits.

I also grow tired of the term “vocal minority”.  I wonder if people have forgotten how
majority opinions are determined by polls and surveys.  Granted, any survey or poll on this site will
likely be weighted in favor of those unhappy of the ending.  But when it is so heavily weighted (98%)
against the ending, then it seems to imply that this is not a vocal
minority.  Add in the evidence that polls
on many, many other sites not affiliated with Bioware also have a huge margin
in favor of those who are critical of the ending, and one wonders how anyone
can still use the term vocal minority with a straight face.

The majority of the world doesn't matter, they haven't played the games, so of course they're going to think that way. Mrs. Potatohead hasn't even finished the game, so she shouldn't form an opinion until she does. Like it or not, her assessment "can" really be argued with. Also, you complain about people complaining while belittling people that have been complaining for a month, Yo Dawg.

Also, she used the word "babsolutely". Her argument is invalid.

If you look at the sigs for American fleet etc, they very clearly "Demand a new ending for ME3" under the Retake ME movement.

Anyway I'm done with this topic.  It's clear that there are a lot of hateful people in this retake movement and they are now directing that hate at jessica for no reason other than she's pointing out how silly this whole thing is.

I support Jessica, Bioware and Mass Effect 3 which is game of 2012.  I hope the "whinefest" as Chobot calls it, stops soon so the rest of us can talk about the positives of the game.

You know she's not the first person to attack the retakers while admitting they have not played or finished the game.
It strikes me as very odd. In what other debate can people chime in with an opinion they freely admit is from a position of total ignorance and get away with it?

1. Saying "that is entitlement" doesn't mean what you think it means.2. If only 5% percent are sad enough to complain about a video game ending, what's the figure on people who are sad enough to take part in 11 page arguments with those people defending a video game?
