I can understand your frustration, Justin, but the reason so many fans are upset is because the ending as it stands is broken. We paid a lot for this game, and for this series. We deserve a better ending. They don't have to give it to us, but they should.

Why? Because the story deserves a better ending. As it is now, the story is broken. It's nonsense until they fix it. A number of us want a better ending because we care that much about a fictitious space story.

If you look at the sigs for American fleet etc, they very clearly "Demand a new ending for ME3" under the Retake ME movement.

Concerning Miss Chobot; surprised she is that unprofessional on her
professional blog (not her twitter).  One would think she would at least
finish the game and do a little research before making such a statement. 
It makes me wonder.  Someone earlier mentioned IGN generates revenue by
the number of hits.   I suspect she was purposefully inflammatory in
order to incite this exact type of reaction, thus giving IGN plenty of site
visits. 

 I also grow tired of the term “vocal minority”.  I wonder if people have forgotten how
majority opinions are determined by polls and surveys.  Granted, any survey or poll on this site will
likely be weighted in favor of those unhappy of the ending.  But when it is so heavily weighted (98%)
against the ending, then it seems to imply that this is not a vocal
minority.  Add in the evidence that polls
on many, many other sites not affiliated with Bioware also have a huge margin
in favor of those who are critical of the ending, and one wonders how anyone
can still use the term vocal minority with a straight face.

This only serves to prove the whiny self entitlement statement she has made. Just because someone doesn't like something, like homosexuals or whatever, it could be anything it suddenly makes their opinion not matter on this topic? Some people might have religious beliefs that cause them to feel a certain way about certain people and I don't know about you but I'm all for religious freedom for everyone so it's unfair to judge a person on a statement made in the past that was likely not even serious in the first place being that this is a forum and it is full of trollish statements. Especially since Steve Cortez is a character videogame sprite and not a real person. Plus this justin fellow doesn't remember making said statement so perhaps you should consider that it may have been a joke or he didn't make it in the first place. Now you truly are acting like children. 'oh god how dare someone say somethign that doesn't agree with me, they no longer have any credibility just because they made a stupid comment, yes because we don't understand that people make mistakes or say things they don't remember saying because we're self entitled whiny cry babies that have to have everything our way'.

That is fictitious. The original people behind RTM didn't want a new ending to be made and implemented. That's just something that they have had to run with when the majority of the people that joined were to stupid to be able to actually argue anything for or against the ending.

You need to lighten up. Just because he does not like ****** sexuals does not mean his opinion on THIS topic isn't correct. While I don't agree with 'hate speech' either something tells me this guy was likely joking about that earlier comment. Either way, steve cortez is not the topic of discussion here, Jessica Chobot is and he is sharing his opinion on her opinion regardless of how you feel about an earlier comment he made that has nothing to do with this topic. Lighten up.

After reading your posts today (oh god I wish I hadn't), you telling people to lighten up is beyond laughable. 

Oh, and telling people to lighten up on bigots... really?

Politics? And well...basically anything that is reported on by the media. But you're right, gaming does seem somehow extra susceptible. People love to blame video games for all of our problems.

Remember the Mass Effect sex scene controversy on Fox? They had that whole discussion and none of the people besides the one they wouldn't let speak had played the game or even seen the stuff they were objecting to. But those were the good old days, when Bioware made games that pissed off Fox news, instead of making games that just ****** off their fans. Thank god EA cleaned up their act!

Actually I look at my forehead and see nothing but skin. Entitled (in todays langauage) implies that we don't have a ligitamate reason for being annoyed and complaining.We were promised specific things when we bought the product we weren't given these things thus by any understanding we have the right to complain this is basic consummerism. The number of people complaining coupled with how quickly the movement retake movement sprang up seems to indecat that this is a serious issue and not just the internet working.

No one said they didn't. It isn't professional however:

a. To talk badly about something you haven't seen (the ending people are fussing over).

b. To express her opinion in that matter.

Professionalism in general may involve keeping your opinions to yourself if you can't put it in a nicer way. If you see a customer that has a really fugly looking face you don't just tell them that just because its your opinion. Keep your opinions to yourself if you haven't even play the game and if you don't like how the fandom  is behaving say it in a better way and provide more constructive methods of conveying their opinions.

A woman with an uninformed opinion (she didn't play  it is mouthing off and you still defend her) whose noteriety is grinding up against editors, and wrapping her tounge against stuff. I as someone who is female and loves gaming and would envy her job has to 'drop it liek its hawwt' for something like that? Because they sure as hell don't seem to care about whether or not she knows about the facts she's talking about. The day all journalists can express "opinions" about things they know nothing about is the day that professionalism is gone from journalism and the job has gone to hell.

People are often dishonest in debates, yes.
But to stand up and say "I have no idea what I'm talking about, but here's my opinion anyway!" seems to be quite unique to this situation.

She's supposed to be a professional. Professionals don't make statements like those she posted.

She's a journalist for IGN and a reporter, reporters and journalists write all kinds of opinion pieces. They have a right to that opinion. Anyway, it would help if all the people using the "entitled fans" cliche actually knew what it means. But then it would mean they would actually have to think for themselves, and that's not what people do nowadays. What TAO said... the current endings ALONE just DO NOT WORK... giving clarifications for morally bankrupt genocidal endings won't do.

They either need to add another option "the refuse"  or go with that indoc thingie... not a fan of it, but i can see how that would still be better than what he have now


We want more endings, and if you even bothered to read the suggestions many people also wanted a TOTAL FAIL ending with Reapers winning. On a game like this, such an ending is important, the same way that having Shepard die during the Suicide Mission wa simportant in ME2.

I'm not the only one who remembers his name, doing a search will find the relevant topics assuming they haven't been deleted. He's not exactly unknown.

I know she's not, but at the very least the majority of them were completely unrelated third parties who at least had the grace of backing their arguments with nebulous nonsensicalities like "artistic integrity" and "dangerous compromise of storytelling evolution." Surely Chobot must know that the fact she works for a game reviewing company--and was in the game herself--makes her look like a corporate shill. Which...she may very well be, but at once admitting you have no idea what you're on about and throwing the PR line is just like...admitting it.

As for that second bit, if you can poison the well by painting your opposition as childish and illogical, you needn't make any sense. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be working.

Also, thanks for reminding me it was Justin2k who made the "kill Steve because he's gay" comment. I'll just be ignoring his posts, then.
