...Currently dealing with the Rachni Queen, and Wrex is shouting at me for not giving her an acid bath, lol. He has the best lines.
/sigh at what the series has become.

I started two more games, one is an ME2 default import (shotgun infiltrator) and the other is a renegade from ME1 (vanguard). Just kind of trying to decide which to focus on first since they are both fun to play.
I gotta admit though, it's just kind of depressing to play them knowing none of the little differences matter in the end.

I am on my fem-Shep play through. It took me a week to even look at another video game. It was that depressing.

Because everyone agrees that the ending
could've been better. I liked the ending, but that doesn't mean it does
not have room for improvements. I can't think of why many in this
community think that there's only 2 opinions about the ending. For some
people its just "It sucks!" or "Its very good!"... Can't people have an
opinion that is somewhere in between?
My opinion is...
Do I like the ending? Yes
Is the ending disappointing? Yes
Does the ending make sense? Yes (but not all of it)
Does the ending sucks? No...
So yeah...
they're not "nearly as bad" as they're made out to be...
Perhaps it's just word choice, but for me if I like an ending, I say "I liked the ending". I wouldn't describe the ending to a game I liked as "not nearly as bad as it's made out to be".
For example, KOTOR's ending. A lot of folks felt it was a bit too cheesy, a bit too "happiness and rainbows" (assuming LS). If I were to comment on the ending, I'd say, "I disagree. I liked the ending". I wouldn't say, "it's not nearly as bad as folks are making it out to be".

I'm not saying they aren't bad, just that they arent that badAgain, like Dragon Age 2
Weird thing is I was okay with DA2's ending. I didn't like how we were railroaded down a certain path (ie. having to fight BOTH "bosses" no matter who you sided with), but the ending itself didn't bother me.
I think the difference for me between the ME3 ending and the DA2 ending is, in the end our choices didn't really matter to either ending, but at least DA2's wasn't nonsensical. It didn't really come out of left field. We saw the conflict building between mages and templars throughout the game, and the linear ending was the result of that conflict.
In ME3, however, we're fighting the reapers, trying to unite civilizations, trying to find a way for all life to survive as individuals, while at the same time working together for a common goal. Then in the last 10 minutes, some god child we've never met before gives us a choice between A, B, and C, and pretty much makes all we did before that irrelevant.

Not a true comparison. DX was done in the dinosaur era of PC games...barely a couple steps above the original Duke Nukem.
I LIKE DE:HR...and Adam Jenson is just plain bad-ass (listened to a youtube interview with the Elias dude who voiced Adam...they worked on that game, the voice stuff, for 4 years! If Bioware does anything similar with ME games than this thing, including ME3, was started back when the earth was still young).

DX HR was not bad as a game, especially by todays standards, even though it had too many annoying dumbed down features. Just cant really compare it to the original
Anyway back on topic.. Mass Effect 3!

Still, ME3 falls into the category of "Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you enjoy the play?"

The way the ending was implemented was terrible. But lack of player choice wasn't the problem. Even the space magic ending wasn't innately terrible. They told us on Mars it was going to be space magic. It was the choices themselves that were badly designed and/or explained.
