Well I just finished the game, and I must say I am a bit dissappointed. I had heard that if you played the game straight through it would take around 50 hours to complete. I did as many side quests as I could and I finished the game in 38 hours. Am I doing something wrong? Also I feel as though the story didn't let you get to know the character too well. Hmmm oh well...so anyways, why have I heard it takes around 50 -60 hours to complete when I did most side quests and beat it in only 38 hours? What did I miss?!

Skipped dialogue? Played on easy? Didn't explore thoroughly? At any rate, even 38 hours has to be considered long in comparison to most other games these days, especially those bang! bang! games that for whatever reason are so successful.

You did most of the sidequests eh? Did you get the 755 sidequest completion achievement?

No time to know the characters...they all have a quest associated with their past which reveals quite a bit about them, i'm willing to bet you didn't do any of them.

Bring up your character and click 'Heroic achievements' and see what percentage of the game you have completed.

Well, I'm in 50 plus hours of game play, and I'm only 35% through. So far I've only completed the treaties with the mages and the elves and I have just completed Redcliff but not yet done the Urn for the Arl. So I'm pretty sure you've skipped all the side quests and lengthy dialogs.

I still havn't completed my 1st play through!!

judging by your current achievements on your player profile, you haven't done a majority of the side quests, else you would have an achievement saying so. Also, it appears like you were playing on a lower difficulty. Most people get their fix by upping the difficulty.

I checked out your profile:

Most powerful foe slain: Broodmother

You missed a dragon or two.

You did not achieve the blight-queller achievement (1000 darkspawn slain) which means you avoided a crapload of combat, I had that achievement at level 12 or so.

looks like you avoided half the game.

Really? I thought I did pretty much all I could, well I feel dumb. hmmm well could I by any chance go back and do them even though I beat the game? In my quest log it says my only available quests are dlc...which i don't have.

You did more then enough. Most of the side quests are just filler. And nearly 40 hours of gameplay should be enough anyone in this generation of games.

Where did you find 1000 darkspawns by level 12? oO I'm well into my second playthrough (only 1 treaty left) and still have only about 700 darkspawn slain.

No idea really, I did Orz first though, so that might have something to do with it.  How the hell do you only hav 700 darkspawn slain?  The wilds and tower must crank you thrugh at LEAST 150-200.

Maybe it only counts darkspawn slain by the main character?

Actually, it looks like he didn't do jack. Probably used stealth to sneak past mobs or something

Let's compare:

My warrior that I rushed through on:

Kills: 1662

Damage:
423111

Also, for some reason it's saying my character is level 17 :/

Now your character:

Kills: 743

Damage: 191251

Also take into account rogues should have more DPS than warriors.

I am 36 hours in and I have done Lothering, Red Cliff, Elf Forest and the tower...Haven't touched Denerim, Ozrammar and some board quests yet.

But I did complete the DLCs (Soldier Peak and Honneleath).

I actually never used stealth...but then again I'm not great when it comes to RPGs. I don't just play rpgs (not saying you all do) I also play FPS's and some strategy games. I guess I was hoping for it to be more like KOTOR. I kept trying to compare it to Knights of the Old Republic (My all time favorite game) so maybe that's why it didn't seem as satisfying. Hmmm

Just check my profile.

Haven't finished the game, well over 100 hours spent.

You must have not done any sidequests then.

The gameplay was fairly similar to kotor in my opinion.

Also, I play FPS as well...it doesn't make you a worse RPGer.

I guess I was expecting the story line to be longer than getting the treaties and slaying the archdemon, I kept hoping at the end that it would keep going, maybe the darkspawn would come back or something...I don't know

My first run took around 128 hours. Got around 50% complete and I think 92% explored. I'm satisified with the length. ^^

Is there any chance that there is more content in the PC version? Because a lot of you seem to be playing the PC version. Just I thought...now I wish I had explored more lol

I have in total 152 hours for the first playthrough. That's a lot of exploring, coming back to places to pick up more loot and the such.

But 38 hours? Must have been a runthrough rather than playthrough.

What difficulty did you all play on? I had it on normal most of the time, and for hard fights I switched it to casual.

I played on normal, seemed challenging enough in the beginning.

I checked your storyline info and there's nothing wrong with your run. You skipped some of the more useless stuff but IMO that was right thing to do. If you really want to experience 'em, just create new character and choose another origin.

Don't forget that you have to TALK to your groupmates. You learn a lot more about them that way, and by currying their favor. They're not just going to run up and plop themselves in your lap simply becuase you accepted them in your party. Which is a good thing. I'd feel very uncomfortable with Sten in my lap.

It seems you do get more for the PC version, I didn't get the 1000 darkspawn until the final battle.

Warrior's playthrough ended at 95 hours and 55 minutes, and my warrior did most of the sidequests. I'll probably top 100 hours when I remake her to fix choices for the save game continue.
