It's a scar at this point. I'm still part of the movement, but I am willing to compromise and get closure DLC. I don't flip out when the ending becomes a conversation, but it still hurts to think about. I definitely don't hate it as strongly as I did before.

That being said, its a godawful ending to an otherwise perfect trilogy.

What's kind of funny is that the (excellent) music at the end made me really, really sad the second time around, but I was sad because of what had happened to my favorite game series, ahem.

I've beaten the game about four times now (all imports), and I think by the fourth viewing of the "ending" I've come to some conclusions.

FOR ME, it isn't worth being upset over anymore.

It was never worth being upset over. It's a video game. Think about the grand scheme of life.. how low should Mass Effect 3's ending should be on that scale? I hope under your shoe low. lol

I am still upset and have not played ME3 since my first walk trough.

But i was not thinking about it for the last two weeks and then a friend came and asked me if he should buy it.

After i finished eruption he decided to stay with COD.

Upset, meh. It does peeve me that I blew $60 on THIS game, based on all the misleading hype from Bioware / EA.
IMHO, ME1 & 2 were really good quality games that I would play to relax, and you could really get caught up in them. I was really looking forward to ME3 coming out.

With my kids being home at Christmas from university, they were very interested from watching me do a replay of ME2. I bought them both, 1 & 2, that they had been playing since. They were going to pre-order ME3, but they waited for my verdict. Needless to say, I told them not to waste their money (like I did) at this point, with the way the game has been released with the nonsense ending.

Am I still upset; more a feeling of disappointment.
What's that saying:  Fool me once, shame on you .... fool me twice, shame on me

Sorry Bioware / EA, but my wallet won't be opening again to you, until you do right to your fans.

Agreed.

I accepted it after an hour and that was that. Wasted energy is just wasted energy.

Time heals all wounds. Having said that the ME3 ending basically killed the Mass Effect universe for me. Won't be spending any more cash on DLCs. The emotional attachment has been severed.

Value is subjective. My average dropped at least 5 points overall since the ending came out, because I was so focused on the retake movement and working on Indoctrination Theory. I feel it to be completely worth it, especially with the impact Mass Effect has had on my life.

Hell, I just sent my application to a military academy because of Shepard's influence.

I'm not angry any more (well I am about Tali's picture as this was totally a cheap rip off, but such is life), but do feel sad that 10 years from now, all that anyone will remember about Mass Effect is that they screwed up the ending more than any game ever - that they were able to destroy the memories of one of the best gaming franchises in the final 5 minutes.

I did 2 Hard-Saves my entire play-through

Right before Tuchanka, and right before Quarian/Geth missions.

I don't like playing past those, because after Thessia, it goes down-hill very fast.

It's been almost 6 months for me now, and I'm still upset about these endings, ever since the script leak.

The intensity of my unhappiness is starting to burnout though. I think PAX will be the turning point, most likely we'll know whether Bioware will admit they screwed up and fix it, reveal some dastardly plan they had all along and whip out the real endings, or they'll fob us off with more detailed explanations and an epilogue as if we're idiots that just couldn't grape their vision.

The first two will have me throwing money at them, the third will have me selling all the Mass Effect stuff I own.

I really hope it's not the third option, but I expect t will be, and I'll most likely never stop feeling upset about it.

This Sans the 6 months part , And as an earlier poster said threads like this may lead BW to think they can just wait us out/PR BS us till we all "get over it" and buy more of their stuff but in reality if they do that they will lose many many fans money including mine and ive steadily funneld my money into BW since Baulders Gate

Don't be hard on yourself that way, just because you've wasted energy on other things after an hour.  If you feel it was time well spent, then it's not wasted.

Anyway, I am a little surprised to see people announcing that they've basically brushed off 100 hours of story and gameplay in the matter of an hour.

If that's the case with so many of you, then perhaps the more pertinent question should be "Did BioWare wait too long to make an announcement?"

Also, why does everything have to have a ****ing Plot-twist?

There is nothing wrong with simple, if simple answered our questions and gave us closure, then I could accept that.

You are absolutely right Casey Hudson, the ending certainly wasn't forgettable.

If u want to keep paying BioWare to Make Crappy Games for u more power to u but you dont have the right to tell people what they are allowed to get upset over or not. And neither u or BioWare is allowed to tell us what games we have to buy from now on and many many of us will not be buying from BW anymore if they cant at least stop the PR Crap and admit they Flubbed the endings and actually do something about it

I'm not angry or upset at this point, but I am interested enough to continue to check in from time to time and see where things are going. So for me, it's not 'over' until I see what Bioware plans to do to fix their ending.

Ditto. Even when I listen to it independently of the game, I feel so sad, but for the wrong reason. :(

But I still love it because it's just so Clint Mansell. The Fountain soundtrack is similarly evocative.

Firstly, way to not spot a joke.

Plus Soap Operas do have stories you know, often award winning and occasionally surprisingly deep and complex ones that put ME3's to shame, but then so does most fanfiction, ironically. And slightly melodramatic but brilliant romance plots is a big chunk of Mass Effect in case you haven't been paying attention.

Frankly the romance/alien virgin sexing was a big part of what I loved about Mass Effect. We all play these games for different reasons, that's a big part of why the lack of variety in these endings is causing so many problems.

Frankly I'm actually still dissapointed that whole 'dire consequences' for cheating thing never happened. That could have been an excellent source of drama.

FOR ME, it isn't worth being upset over anymore. The ending is still terrible and Bioware's writers should probably be ashamed for what they churned out and stuck on to an otherwise great game, but I'm out of the-hold-the-line-give-me-a-new-ending phase. I still want one, but I don't particuarly care one way or another if I get it anymore. That makes me a feel a little guilty, actually.

All I'm really left with at this point is curiosity to see what they're going to do.

What about you folks? Still as angry/upset/confused/whatever?

When you keep hearing dodges and repetition of what you already knew, the PR spin they feel they have to uphold, it's easy to get discouraged.

It's one thing to know in your heart that that--it wasn't the true ending to the Mass Effect series, because they established Shepard's personality, which evaporated after the conversation with Anderson and was replaced by some Stepford Android. It doesn't mean much if the devs say, "we're listening," and in the end do nothing but tack an explanation and some happy LI scenes on to a device almost no one thought was anything but stupid/nonsensical.

To feel burnout, to recognize that we can fight but we cannot necessarily win because only Bioware can make their own mistake right... that's human. It's realistic. And I share those feelings. I feel... fatigued. Drained.

I wanted to donate to Child's Play, to write a letter... I did tweet some of my favorite links to developers. But when it comes to anything serious, I just can't muster the will to believe it will matter. Because a part of me thinks... they have to say that they care, but they probably heard so much of the raging jerks harassing them that it's now how they view the fanbase--as some sort of monster they have to placate if they want any peace. So they don't see the honest hurt and disillusionment from others. They don't hear the logical arguments, the requests for variety--just the "not enough was explained, my LI wasn't there!" nonsense that doesn't matter anywhere near so much as the obvious wrong direction that was taken. That's not arrogance, it's what we feel in our hearts based on what they established in the previous games and even in this one. Anyone who cares about the themes of Mass Effect (diversified unity, not homogenous unity) knows that this was the wrong direction.

I want them to fix this... but for the right reasons and in the right way. I just fear that's not even possible. And it makes me feel like I have no energy to even try.

I can only hope they will come to see what we see. That they will listen to the voices of reason, not the satisfied few/hateful minority who apparently cannot cease screaming at each other long to really think through their bland acceptance/irrational personal hatred of Bioware employees who happen to just be normal people and subject to making mistakes and being overworked like anyone.

But it's just too exhausting to keep hoping all the time. So I wait.

I'm definitely over it. I'm interested in seeing how Bioware moves forward with this
