Felicia Day is a genuine nerd who clearly is invested in the culture. Chobot is much like Olivia Munn - I get the impressions she can 'talk the talk", but doesn't really "walk the walk".Jealous Beauty wrote...
Out of curiosity, how did these forums react to Felicia Day in the DA2 DLC? Did she catch the same level of flak as Jessica Chobot?

However, as you've seen in the past week or so, some people have started to examine things more closely and realize that there is a population that is earnest about their feedback to the game, and they raise some respectful points that are worthy of consideration. (Yes they probably should have done actual investigation before, but at least they're doing it now)

Crap, Mass Effect topic. I didn't mind Chobot's character. It's nice to see she apologized about her comments, not everyone would do that.
She has a DLC to herself. Mark of the Assassin. It's an interesting addon imo. Although, there was a lot of criticism with how heavy-handed the ending in it was.

I agree completely, I personally did not mind her, she may not have been the best VO in game, she may not have been 100% pro but she really was not that bad and is completely ignorable in game if it suits you.Novate wrote...
It sickens me for anyone that actually attacks Chobot personally, In the game, you don't even have to talk to her if you don't like her character. And ever time you talked to her, you get the option to tell her to get out of the ship.
The game never makes her an absolute necessity, if you don't like her character, don't pick her up. Don't talk to her.
If you have a problem with her personally, don't read or watch her comments and videos. Just avoid IGN if she bothers you that much.
I just don't understand what the hell, does it make anyone feels that much better to make someone's life miserable. Its not like she stole your job at IGN or took your money.
The attacks are a bit childish, she did her best, if you think thats not good enough you should try it. Yes they could have used existing reporters or paid some professional VO to do the job but they choose her, live with it.

So now the theme seems to be that if a game (art) is good, I can speak glorious about it, but when it is obviously substandard I am not allowed to voice a negative opinion on the matter?

Jessica Chobot seems like a really cool chick. She is a genuine gamer and nerd (as if that was a necessary qualification) who loves games, and the culture. She also happens to be hella cute.
Hard to believe you are serious.

A so-called gaming "journalist" is defending the game she was a part of. How weird!
In a more serious note, she should be apologizing for being a stain on an otherwise perfect voice cast of Mass Effect 3.

Probably didn't call the fanbase names either. That goes a long way to not catching flak.
Ummm...excuse me, but JC was put under some extreme scrutiny, and hostility here and elsewhere well before she made any kind snide remark about Biowares fanbase (which frankly they deserve). I give her credit, because if I were in her position, I would have been quite a bit nastier about it. She deserves none of the harshness thats been directed at her. She's a fan of the games, and Bioware, and was no doubt thrilled to be a part of it in some way. Imagine how crappy she feels knowing she cant even enjoy her small contribution to the game because of some butt hurt, nerd ragging idiots who have nothing better to do then tear into her for no reason at all.
That is kind of interesting Purple People. If JC was not an actress or has no acting training or experience then it would seem she would be kind of a normal or average person like any of us on the forums. So I wonder what would have happened if Bioware had taken someone off this forum and threw them into ME3 in Allers' place. I wonder how they would react to all the arguementative, or crass, or sarcastic comments and vitriol on this forum about sucking and not being a competent VA or they shouldn't have been put in ME3 because they can't act worth a crap.

So she sees the people at Bioware getting trashed and takes their side... That's an extremely normal response. She realizes it and gives an imperfect apology.
She didn't have a great role. Her dialogue was a bit bland, and as a romance option, her character was shallowest. One of the things that made ME2 romances so interesting was that other people commented on them. For example, Mordin cracking jokes, Kasumi making a joke about the engine room, etc. All of the romance options took a hit in ME3 relative to ME2 and DAO. Allers is one of the shallowest. Frankly, all the LI would benefit from DLC to bring them up to the level of depth of ME2.
But, give her some credit for at least trying to be fair. In her shoes, many of us would probably feel the same.

Go look her up. Shes been around the gaming industry for a while now. She's made her love of games well know for many years now, shes got a damn tattoo of the triforce as a permanent marker of her love for Zelda, and she has more credentials then precious little Felicia Day who so many around here geek out over for some inexplicable reason.

Felicia Day is considered nerd queen amongst gamers; she has a devoted fanbase that arguably surpasses Jennifer Hale's, has numerous web series and has spent years in the industry. Furthermore, she is a trained voice actress. Regardless of your opinion of Jessica Chobot. She could never compare to Felicia at this stage.
