Jessica Chobot Apologizes

It was completely neutral in tone and sounded like she was reading a script but AGAIN, this _IS_ considered what made Walter Cronkite (considered by far the greatest news reporter of all time) the most trusted man in America.
I'm not sure why people think reporters SHOULD have emotion in their reporting (seriously, there is many a debate in journalism circles about this)

It honors her to apologise for what she did or said, and I guess it's not her fault that Bioware thought she was worth the resources spent, so as far as I'm concerned, she's alright.

I'm really not into hating. Jessica apologized - good on her. We all make mistakes and we all get our feelings hurt. Give her some space already.
We should take that into consideration for everyone involved in this ending debacle.
TOTALLY agree. If Bioware comes out and apologizes and says, "Hey, we blew it. Mucho apologies, we'll try to fix it" I think most of us would say, "Well alright then, we will happily await the fix!"
But the whole artistic integrity junk, especially when there are stock photos of Tali, is just not washing. If they just end up "clarifying" the myriad of crazy torqued up problems with the ending, they won't be fixing things. They will rightly come of as defensive, and nobody will give them a pass.

However, so many of the responses here are baffling. You were so pissed that she bashed the fan base and took those comments at complete, 100 percent face value. But when she apologizes later and offers an explanation for why she responded rashly, you immediately assume she is lying, forced to apologize by BioWare, etc. Honestly I think if she groveled in front of some (not all) of the posters on this forum and begged for forgiveness it wouldn't be enough.

I debate the most trusted man in America thing. You hear that tossed around a lot, but everyone I talk to about him seems to remember him as being creepy. Regardless, I imagine that Cronkite dropped the flat tone when engaging in personal conversation.

Did you really just compare her to Walter Cronkite? I think my brain just melted.

She needs to apologize for Emily Wong not being there instead! She wanted to be in Mass Effect 3 so much that she (Chobot) did not care if we never saw Emily again.Ashilana wrote...

The people that bashed her after her first post should be going back and apologizing. There's no excuse for name-calling/personal abuse. She owned up to name calling, time for her detractors to do the same
The problem is... a limited number of people insulted her and her response was to insult anyone who was disappointed in the ending.
If Jessica Chobot was not there then we would be having the option to not only have Emily Wong there on the Normandy but also romance her....but no Chobot wanted to be in a Video game.

To be fair, a LOT of the criticism of her came way before she opened her mouth and said anything (which wasn't very smart).

Agreed. People should back off already, both about her comments and her voice-overs. She's human, so are we - accept her apology as she intended. This is hardly an unforgiveable thing.

Out of curiosity, how did these forums react to Felicia Day in the DA2 DLC? Did she catch the same level of flak as Jessica Chobot?
Although in fairness that's probably because Felicia Day can act. Jessica felt so 2d and shallow. There was no heart, no emotion in what she was reporting. She'd talk about the deaths of millions as though it were a big gaming anouncement. Thats what a lot of people disliked I think. She kept the same persona she uses for game reporting and tried to use it to report on war and suffering. That does not work.

I compared her reporting the news flat and tone less with Cronkite and Cronkite WAS flat and toneless..Seriously, fire up youtube and watch/listen to any of his news reporting...you cant get more monotone than that....
That ironically is what made his reporting of Kennedy's death so much of a gut punch...

YEAH! (Really bad, I know).
Well, good on her for apologising. I hadn't read that blog post, but its the exact same thing I hated MovieBob for when he made his Twitter post. She at least has apologised. Forgiven for that? Yes. Allowed on my ship? Oh hell no.
Also, does anyone else find it either creepy or narcicistic that she was going to romance herself in game? Just me?

Really, just more of the same that happened with Mark of the Assassin. I said before when it came out, and I'll still say it; Shoehorning celebrities into games for the sake of cameos or to sell a few more copies for their fans will never work. It doesn't work in movies, and I've never heard of it happening in books, so why should it happen in games?
Martin Sheen
Adam Baldwin
Seth Green
All of these characters these celebrities played could've been done by other less known voice actors...
You just named a group of talented celebrities whose job is to act / VA. I imagine he meant cameo in the regard that it adds nothing to the story or game experience and is only their as a nod or wink to an organization or fanbase.
But I disagree, in some movies and other media cameos can work, as long as they're handled with a little finese and their being there doesn't seem illogical or silly in the context of the story. An IGN reporter cameo-ing as a ANN reporter?

Go hunt down video of Cronkite reporting on the Kennedy assassination or the Apollo program, just to name two things straight off the top of my head. Neutral and carefully-elocuted is not equivalent to unemotional.
