An immediate apology is more than we've gotten from most people involved in this whole thing. And she's at the very least admitted to being on the fence as to whose side she's on. I can respect that.

She's still not boarding my ship, though.

ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL.

Hahahah.

To be honest, it's good when you read a person who comes back to earth, tho.

She has feelings? I'm sorry, but we couldn't assume that after her voice acting performance.
But seriously, i find it rather hard to believe in that apology, after these outragous IGN coverage of the ending protests. It is kind of hypocritical to talk about hurt feelings after all tirades and insults made by her very own agency.

Meh, she can still shove it. I still despise her. I'm not "entitled", I'm voicing my distaste for the product I feel unsatisfied with. That "apology" was rather backhanded.

To be fair I haven't seen anything other than people being perfectly civil to Merizan.
Annoyingly persistent in bugging her about things she obviously can't know, but civil.

Hepler? I don't understand what the hell all that was about other than some people were being truly despicable to her, which has absolutely nothing to do with the retakers.
But I imagine that was the cause of that no abuse rules thing that keeps popping up in my browser no?

Good for you Jessica, you won't find many people willing to come out and apologize. Especially since many in the community are bashing the character based on her. Regardless of the facts, you can't expect her not to get a little upset about people not liking Diana.

Lesson learned. Never respond in kind when the internet lashes out at you.
You cannot beat fire with fire. You beat fire with a nice flame shield until the beast finds some other poor sap to attack.

You guys are brutal

I am glad she apologised. She is probably the only person at IGN brave enough or decent enough to even offer that.

At least it seems sincere.

Yeah, Im really doubting the sincerity of that. Hats off if she meant it however.

I didn't see anything too nasty to Merizan, but Hepler was handed death threats and all sorts. I wasn't *in* that inferno, because I didn't agree with any of it, obviously. But it was pretty nasty. Nobody deserves that for writing a story.

Probably. When you have a rather large group of people, you're always going to get one of those that goes too far. A bit like Mac Walters really.

Too soon?

But you can't blame people either, I feel Diana was just a little too blatant.
A lesser role without a custom made model would've probably gone over far better. I've nothing against her, but she's just not an actress and shouldn't pretend to be.

Great, now get BioWare to patch you out of the game.

She's not a professional voice actor, she was probably excited about being in a game, and upon criticism heading in her direction she became prickly and robustly defended her work. I don't have a problem with that - that is understandable.

She perhaps made a mistake in the first place by agreeing to appear because it slightly compromised her journalistic integrity. I really don't think there was anything sinister about her being in the game, I think it was just Bioware saying "let's pick a gaming journalist as an in-joke that players will understand.".

She's basically just been made the scapegoat for IGN appearing to bend to EA's will.

No need to. Just tell her to sod off at the start of the game. Cerberus takes her out later, I believe, so you have that too if you want.

I always thought the biggest problem with Diana wasn't her voice (I've heard much, much worse IMO) but the fact that they just recreated Miss Chobot in game. It was immersion-breaking.

No doubt she was excited to see herself in a video game, I can't blame her for that.

"...ME3 ending (and my work in progress with it.)"

Annoying choice of words. As that could either be twisted to mean she's working on additional material, or she is saying that she shouldn't have commented on the ME3 ending, which naturally also includes her work on it.

I do not feel like she needed to apologize. The way she has been badmouthed, etc. I feel that gives her a lot of leeway in regards snapping.

Diana Allers as a character didn't really leave any kind of impression on me. Didn't know who Jessica Chobot was before it was announced that she would be in Mass Effect 3. Still, fans of the game have been saying incredibly nasty things about her since the game launched, even before. Did she owe an apology for generalizing the movement? Pretty much, yeah. But she gave it, and yet people still complain that her apology wasn't sincere enough and that they're entitled to a better one (and before anyone asks, that is not a generalization. If the statement I just made doesn't apply to your actions, then you can safely assume I'm not talking about you), so those people are doing a stellar job of proving her initial statement wrong. She also ain't gonna get a fraction of the apologies that are owed to her.

I have nothing personally against her but the fact that she replaced the other reporter was kind of a slap in the face to long time fans of Emily Wong.

Then her entire 'entitled gamers' insult just caused me not to give a damned about her. Her apology means nothing to me. She is still a shill and a sell out no matter what she says.

My two cents.

You know with all the vile comments and generally poor flaming of the poor woman, its amazing she did not say worse then what she did.
You know the sad thing is, all the other characters in the game are fictional, but people hound this poor girl. Her face is in game something that should be a cool and special thing for her, for any of us had it been us, and people turned it into target.

If i had one wish it would be for people to apologize to her for being horses backsides to her just because she had an opportunity to do something neat and she took them up on it.

I said it didn't appear sincere due to the timing, however I am a known cynic.
I also said she deserves the benefit of the doubt, just so we're clear.
