Honestly, what I got out of that was "I'm taking down what I said, but you're all still self-entitled whiners".

When I reread it, what I got out of it was "The bosses say this wasn't a smart move considering we've already burned all of our credibility, so I'm taking it down, and you're all still self-entitled whiners".

It's all couched insults in there.

Have just read the original and the retraction. As apologies go, Chobot did much better than most other public figures; however, she does lose major points for putting the "I'm sorry" in quotes -- and putting it last.

Still, she did FAR better than most.

I've always liked Chobot -- basically because I think you typically get genuine opinions and emotions from her, which is incredibly rare among public figures today. It looks like she's discovering that it's a lot easier to be the one dishing out the criticism than to be the one taking it. That's a tough lesson to have to learn in public.

So, since it looks like she's made a sincere effort at an apology here, I'm going to make a sincere effort at accepting it.

Thank you once again for jumping to your own conclusion before you'd had time to read or consider anything, just like every time you seem to post. 

What she initially posted was not professional, you do not go on a public blog, and throw a hissy fit about the customers of a creative endeavor you participated in and were paid for in order to entertain them, 
with your employer's name on it. Especially an employer that gave very favorable reviews to, advertises for, and has mounted fearsome editorial defenses of said creative endeavor.

There's a wee bit of a sense of impropriety there. 


In any other industry but video gaming that would be a huge issue. There's a reason she took it down in just a couple of hours, because it *wasn't* professional.

I'm not insulting him, or vice versa. Chobot however I think is fair game, but it can be said about many people in the world, I just selected the typical media **** as an example.

No. People were not disputing her FREEDOM to have an opinion. But she didn't look at the ending, so she doesn't even know about the very subject she's using to belittle people that don't like the ending. She is willing to take sides on the matter despite not understanding the other side's point of view.

And? So What? She made a mistake and will probably make lots more of them. The major problem here is that once somebody blows their lid and ****s up a lot of people start assuming it's alright for them to respond in kind. It's not. It never is.

Some unfortunate fans will take the opportunity to talk badly about how she looks, how she's a ****ty writer, how she ____. They attack her on a personal level. Why? Because they don't like her character, or her voice acting in a game? Or her articles?

I just wish people knew where to draw the line between criticism and insults. They assume just because they have a legitmate grievence that the things they are saying and more importantly how they are wording them...is appropriate. Most of the time it's not.

1) If you are not educated in the subject you are talking about, it is only natural for people to condemn you for being a crappy writer/journalist. Of COURSE they're not going to like her articles, because it's clear she's selling out, because it doesn't matter what the other side's opinion is to her. Retake dissed her constituents and that's a "problem". She didn't HAVE to make a statement about the Retake issue, something she was admittedly uneducated about. She chose to do it.

2) Think about why some people are attacking her on a personal level. In the last thread, images were leaked of her grinding against an editor of IGN

She sends the message to people that it's okay for women in that industry to be uneducated about the subject they're talking about so long as you have a hot body and **** themselves with racy pictures to get attention. This is in fact connected to the fact she doesn't know what she's talking about.

3) Many people are probably upset at her because she comes off like she uses her body and not her brains to get where she wants. When she disrespects people, you have to understand that naturally, people are going to attack the asset they think GAVE her the podium to disrespect them in the first place. Sexing it up for IGN editors to get her job.... which includes disrespecting the gamers. So of COURSE they're going to attack how pretty she is if they think that will get her off her high horse.
