I mean, I cannot port my character from Origins to Awakening unless I finish the game. This is infuriating.

My Xbox is about 9 months old and never had any problems with it freezing until Dragon Age. However mine does not freeze at anyone spot in the game. It seems more likely to freeze when there is a lot of motion in a scene like the final battles leading up to the archdemon but still freezes at times when nothing much is happening.

I just started experiencing freezes but mine are not in game - only when I'm loading a save game right after dying (so far just 2 times). Both times were in the fade too. What's up with that place?

Bump -- in hopes it might spur a fix. I am playing DA:O Ultimate on a year-old 360 "pro" with both discs fully installed to the HD. The game consistently freezes about 20 min into the Archdemon battle (8 attempts so far).

I had a similar problem with the General in the Marketplace but managed to get through it after 4-5 tries... a mid-level save helped (not possible in the final battle).

Bump -- I bought this game at launch and didn't get much time to play it then. I had it installed to HD, clean disk, etc. Game now has trouble being recognized in drive, after many tries and fussing with disc it would read it and then sometimes freeze. No other 360 game has any problems. Heard there was an issue with bad discs, is there any resolution? Is EA offering replacement discs? I read about deleting install and clearing cache...now I can't reinstall because it claims disc can't be read. If this is how DA2 is going to be I'm going to wait till they release discs that aren't defective at launch.

Bump -- in fort drakon for the final battle against the genlock conjurer, every time without fail it freezes during the fight. Bought my disc 2009. Recently began to play again (perfect save) and it freezes so close to the end, after 60+ hours. Bought new copy and it still happens!

I have the same problem. Dragon age ultimate, during the final archdemon battle, the game consistently freezes. Three times now.

Seem to be having the same problem as a lot of people here. The game freezes during the final battle when facing the first general every time i attempt to get through it. The one time i did manage to get through that fight i proceeded on to the royal district only to have the game freeze when my 'blood trail' was mere centimetres away : (
Wouldn't mind an update on how the fix for this issue is coming along as i am quite wanting to get the game finished before the sequel is released...

No problem here, could be a minor flaw in you disc or maybe just bad luck, I only have lag troubles when I am connected to EA online

Yeah i am at the exact same spot really against the conjurer's and it has froze on me 4 times now..

Bought the game a long time ago, two playthrough without problems I can remember.

I'm in my third playthrough (game on HD, regular Xbox) and I had a difficult time going through the alienage part of the battle of Denerim without the console freezing (happened three times). I can't finish the playthrough because each time I fight the archdemon it froze one moment or the other (five times already, including one during the warden's discussion after the archdemon dies, oh did I swear).

If it's an overheating process it's happening fast because the last three times I put my console on, loaded the game, loaded the save, started the fight and boom, freeze, in less than ten minutes. And it's cooling down fast because after my last "freeze" I put if off then back on again and played other games for four hours straight without any issue.

If you have loaded all the updates for you xbox live, logged out and back into you profile, downloaded it onto your harddrive...( permitting there is no malfunction with it or your console) and you still having a particular moment freeze on you.  I might be due many several things: Your lame choice of party members has annoyed the Archdemon into cheating, Your choice in tactic is so pathetic that the general can't stop laughing and your game has to wait for him to finish, Or finally these and several other possible factors prove that you suck at LIFE so greatly that you don't deserve to see the archdemon... except on youtube.   Good luck with that.

On a serious note, you should really learn to calm that rage of yours... being such a ****waffle can't be good for your health. If this was solely EA or BioWare's fault EVERYONE would have at least one game freeze... as this is not the case you should consider purchasing your games from a legal vendor  in stead of from the stock that "...fell off the truck..." Perhaps that is the source of your problem.

uououou.... the skubideth user(same picture of me, yeaks) is infuriated with reason... im having the same problem on my xbox slim , the game was bought online with microsoft points downloaded right throught my hardrive... when bioware would make something to repair this ? i really want to finish this game....

I was going to ask, if it's fixed by now, but then I recognized that your post is only 10 hours old @azhabiel. I haven't played DA:O, but I really want to, since I pretty much enjoy DA II, but after reading all this, I won't buy it until the issues are fixed.

But:

Waiting for a fix is pretty much useless I guess - sadly -, they're probably completely focusing on DA II. : (

Yet my brand new game keeps stopping whenever the action becomes intense, saying the disk needs cleaning or repair. I do clean it and then the game freezes earlier...and earlier... until the screen is an odd houndtooth green and black!
By this forums, it appears that this is not a new problem. Any ideas or suggestions how to receive recompense for this?

Finally got to the Archdemon fight. About 10 or 20 seconds after the fight enters stage 3 (all the Darkspawn reinforcements are dead and the Archdemon has flown back) the game crashes, every, single, time.
I've tried installing it to the HD, clearing cache, using different party members, different difficulties, not using the armies, not using the ballistas, etc, etc.. still crashes at the same point every time.
It's not a problem with the Disc as a friend of mine used my disc to go through the same battle as a test.

I had the random freeze issues, too on 360, then the RRoD(this was already fixed once and supposedly cured). After having a local electrical guru go in and really re-solder the connection points on my Falcon chip, not only is the RRoD fixed, but a pleasant side effect has been DA 2 has not frozen ONCE in several hours of play.

This leads me to believe that the freezes are actually mini shut-downs due to almost over heating from processing the advanced graphics.

I mean, if it were a software issue with the game, why is it now fixed from re-soldering the chip?

i bought the game from games on demand and now i can only travel once before it freezes and turns of my xbox after a minute. should i re-download it or is my hard drive broken?

It sounds like that you have thought about redownloading, so it might be worth doing so. Whether it solves the problem remains to be seen to be honest.

If the HD is the problem I will say that it doesn't sound as if it is broken; at most perhaps a bad sector which is still troublesome if a download is written to that sector.

Freezes tend to be random by nature so I personally doubt that there is a fix as such for those problems (far too erratic to pinpoint). It is also possible that we may not see any further patches. One may still hold hope though.

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!!  glad (not in a sense that its a good thing, but i'm not the only person)

the freeze...  loading a saved game, after i die; as soon as it goes to the loading screen from there is when it will freeze. consistantly.

i CAN avoid it by just quitting the game and then loading it from the title screen.

i havent played the game in a while, there was a title update and i am wondering if theres something wrong with the update itself (or if anyone else has experienced the same thing) because it never used to freeze until i downloaded it ...very recently.

note: i havent actually tried clearing the cache, refusing the update, and then dying to see if it will crash when loading again, but i suspect it will not.

help? patch please?

No fellow gamer can provide you with a patch (might be possible on PC in a 'roundabout' sort of way). The last official update still stands at patch 1.04 unless I missed an announcement (I still want Shale at coronation!); though I guess it really depends how long ago you last played it. Are you certain the update was for DAO rather than a 360 dashboard update?

Anyway, clearing the cache should get rid of the last update you had. I suspect you have a basic idea of what you want to do, so there's not too much to add. If the update was somehow corrupted, then I would suggest clearing the cache and updating it again to see if there's an improvement.

Have the game loaded on my older 120 G xbox.

Played all the way through main game and was playing some of the add-ons from Ultimate.

Began both freezing and returning unreadable disc error.

Reinstalled several times, deleted all save game data and still getting both errors.

To a certain extent I'm not too surprised if the problem was limited to the second disc of the Ultimate edition. Quite a few fellow gamers have experienced disc reading problems with that, and I think it is generally accepted (I do and I don't own that edition) that there is a batch which does have problems. It is then conceiveable that if there could be disc reading problems, then is also possible that installations from that disc could have problems.

At most, I think all that can be done is to clear the cache (link in sig) and see if that helps. Though there's no guarantee that it will solve the problem it might be worth a try.
