Bump - Clearly this hasn't been sorted as I was playing through my 3rd character and beat the Archdemon. Then when it came to deciding who gives the final blow, my game froze.
I thought... ah crap what a fluke. Replayed it, exact same thing happened. This has gone on now for about 4 or 5 times.
In a way im glad to see im not the only one as I was about to take my disc back and get a new 1. But obviously this isnt a happy situation as all our games are pretty much screwed

I'm having the same issue as well! 20 minutes into the Archdemon battle and my 360 Elite (bought back in June 2011) freezes. My 360 has been flawless up until this point and I always install my games to the HD. I hope they fix this as I wanna finish the game!

Freezes aren't bugs, so I can't see developers developing fixes for them. Freezes are also rather random at times. The most I have seen in the way of a fix is to clear the cache, but usually it is just to reload and play that part again.
Also, it's becoming unrealistic to hope for a new patch so long after the game's release to be honest.

I am clearly not meant to beat this game because it freezes everything I get close to the archedemon... which is a total shame since I was ever looking forward to it...

Advice as above.
If you have installed the game onto your HDD, then I would suggest deleting the installation (not your save games) to see if you still have a problem playing straight from the disc itself.

I have not installed the game onto my HD. And I don't see any scratches on the game either. I just started a new character to see if it would freeze at other parts of the game and thus far its just in the Denerim castle at the last battle.

Sometimes a disc doesn't have to be visibly seen to be damaged for it to be faulty (like burning a bad CD or DVD).
If you have an HDD I would suggest you install the game to it to see if it helps; sometimes it can. If the disc is inherently faulty though then there will still be a problem.
That your freezes are consistent suggests something is wrong; though it could be the hardware at a push. I'm inclined to think the new Slim models have more problems after what happened with patch 1.04.
Not much I can add I'm afraid, because that's pretty much all I can add to the topic of freezes. As I stated some while above it's usually a case of reload and hope for the best.

Hi, the game freeze (never happened before in the game) during a fight with a General, I suppose I'm near the Archdemon fight.
I have a 120gb Xbox. I installed the game on HD, i tryed to clear the cache too, but it continues to freeze in the middle of that fight.
Any help?

I hope that someone of the staff still follow this thread.
I was struck by a freezing problem in the battle agaist the second General, into the Enclave.
I tried, at last, to use a previous save, and no freeze happens.
But in the following combat (near the castle, as I can remember) another freeze appears.
Any help or idea?

With so many people reporting freezes this is more than a mere coincidence. Can't blame the console either if it doesn't have a problem with any other game (some far more demanding). I've only had one complete lockup but I have also noticed numerous bugs and glitches. Once I've gained all the achievements I'm trading the game and sticking to my Mac port of the game. At least that actually works properly. -.-
People can say what they like but this is absolutely disgusting. Three years after release and the game still runs buggy with pretty poor graphics and numerous sound glitches. If my last save was a while back I'm gonna be so annoyed...
Maybe this game should have been kept as PC only. The game itself is great, but the stability on console is very disappointing..
