The tragic thing is, I think most of us really do believe BioWare could've accomplished all these things if they had more time. Mass Effect 2 came out about two years and two months after ME1's release. Mass Effect 3 was scheduled to come out one year and eleven months after ME2, three months less the span of time between ME1 and ME2. ME3 was pushed back four months, and the game did accomplish many things, but not everything the developers had promised or envisioned.

So I blame EA. And why not? They've done worse things to The Sims 3...

This is surreal.

Is this real? Is this real life?

How can someone say so many things, make so many promises, and then do the COMPLETE OPPOSITE, and then act surprised when people voice their complaints in one loud, unanimous voice?

It's like we're Charlie Brown trying to kick that football, and Lucy keeps yanking it away right before the kick.

Yeah, it doesn't feel good. In fact, it kinda feels really, really, really bad.

What I find really hard to believe, is that there were no voices inside Bioware that knew what was going on, and did not speak out, about the travesty about to be perpetrated on the company's fans. Nobody said "This is wrong, it will alienate our base"? Not a single "The hell with the deadline, we cannot put out this product after what we promised, after what our fans are expecting" ? The whole company followed along?

What I find really hard to believe is the universal line that they were completely blindsided by our criticisms, knowing what they promised, what we wanted, and what they gave us instead.

That's probably another set of lies. There's no way, knowing what they promised Vs what they delivered, that they thought we'd be satisfied..

Unforgiving release deadlines.

I personally like how it never comes up how similar the game engines between ME2 and ME3 are. ME3 has a what, 3 year dev cycle? Using the same engine core as a predecessor?

Two years, actually, I believe.

I thought it was closer to the 3 year marker then 2. I wonder how much time the MP took and if that had an affect over all. Guess I can't blame bioware and me3 on swtor.

Except that Lucy never promised Charlie Brown about having the opportunity to kick the football in the first place.

Well, they also had other games going, and they devoted WAY too much time and resources to marketing. I think they had less on their plate when ME2 came out.

Here, just for you, go vote for EA so they can win the Golden Poo: http://consumerist.c...rica-vs-ea.html ^_^

the little blurb at the end of the comic kinda made me do a wtf look when i read basicly "if your PO'd about the ending dont be a cry baby and use that anger toward political actvism"

Isnt all political activism considered by some one nothing more then being a crybaby over something they dont like?

Wow...Looking up my copy of this issue I am shocked how many broken promises and lies are here...Like if Bioware keeps being defensive about the game just wave this in their faces and ask them to explain this.

Omg, I remember that article. You know, I keep trying, I REALLY keep trying to like the ending, but then these sorts of threads pop up and I'm like "LOL NOPE".

Nothing's good and everything hurts.

“… part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving… I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

So... Casey Hudson clearly used to understand. What in the world went on at Bioware in the past year?

There's this thing called Corporation. And then there's this thing called Electronic Art among other things.
In Mass Effect Terms:

Corporation = Reapers.
Eletronic Art = Cerebus
Casey Hudson = Indoctrinated.

This one thinks that someone told them to get the game out before finishing so that one could make quick money. This one also thinks that that one told them to gut other things from the game so that us ones could buy it as DLC.This one is sad...can this one have a gun now?

*Lends a Carnifex* This should get the job done.

Carnifex is an overrated piece of ****. You can quote me on that.

To give bioware credit, their old founder did step up and say there's be some annoucement in regards to the ending during April.

Can't remember where that's from.

Hopefully there's someone in EA who's not pulling an illusive man on their fans.

I donno at this point asking Bioware for a lighter seems unrealistic to me.

You know, I get the feeling that Casey himself is wondering what happened. Maybe he got swindled himself. I mean nobody could be THAT shameless, can they?

But naivety aside. Bioware, me and my fellow ME fans would really like to know what happened to those big dreams of yours.

Of course the Crucible is no Reaper OFF button. It's to big to be a button, that's obvious. And it's artistically integral with the Citadel. So we've got nothing to complain about...

I had read it myself about 3 weeks ago doing some cleaning myself. I could not believe my favorite game developer has to resort to lies now to sell its games. I wish they had a big sticker on da2 that says warning repeated dungeons or on me3 warning are endung makes no sence.

So, again, some of you are saying that we're dealing with "lies" here, well are we? It does seem unlikely that a game company like Bioware would -willingly- pitch a game as being the complete opposite of the product they intend to deliver. Just what do they gain from such behavior? Furthermore, if Hudson was out there spouting off like this under duress from EA, I don't know if you can pin that on him. Granted this is all speculation, but I'm wondering if it's really fair to accuse Hudson (et al) of really being stone cold con artists. None of this adds up for me, the whole situation makes no sense.
