… part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving… I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

Uhh....what happened??? Anger returning....

Hudson realized that particular ending had no artistic integrity.

From a section entitled THE PLAN:

“In Mass Effect 3, you know you need to take back Earth, but the path to victory is less clear at the outset. You won’t just find some long-lost Reaper “off” button; says Hudson”

This one respectfully offers that the mysterious Catalyst was more of a switch or lever than a button.

This is evidence that:
1. They were completely trolling us
2. The game was completely changed from what they had planned

I think 2 is the obvious choice, but why did their plans do a complete 180?

This also makes me lol at all the people who say "the series couldn't have ended without Shep dying." Apparently it could have.

Added to favourites for lists of false promises. These things are stacking up Bioware...

I'm even more disappointed in ME3 than I was before now. I completely forgot about some of these promises.

*sigh*

I thought of it more as a kind of worn, twisty knob that was supposed to select 16 settings but it kept slipping and giving you the same ending.

And re: when that article came out.  Does it matter?  Less than two months before the game came out (and you assume they have a pretty good grasp on the game ending at that point) you get the infamous, "It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C."

Lets face it .. he has a serious problem with the truth coming out of his mouth.

I'm just as upset with this as I was with the whole dead island fiasco, where they had an super emotional plot in trailer and delivered the most unemotional game ever created.

I seem to remember a quote that went something like "You can play through Mass Effect 3, then talk to someone else who did and they will have had an entirely different experience." I saw it on television, not on print. I have no proof to support this claim, but I wish that I did.

Man I used to watch those E3 trailers with Casey narrating over and over. I used to rewatch the ME1 CE supplemental stuff over and over too. I loved hearing the man talk about the great vision for Mass Effect, the promise of exploring uncharted worlds and all that. If I'd have known how terribly they'd have treated the franchise back then, I would've stopped myself from caring.

So... Casey Hudson clearly used to understand. What in the world went on at Bioware in the past year?
