… part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving… I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

Hudson realized that particular ending had no artistic integrity.

From a section entitled THE PLAN:
“In Mass Effect 3, you know you need to take back Earth, but the path to victory is less clear at the outset. You won’t just find some long-lost Reaper “off” button; says Hudson”
This one respectfully offers that the mysterious Catalyst was more of a switch or lever than a button.

1. They were completely trolling us
2. The game was completely changed from what they had planned
I think 2 is the obvious choice, but why did their plans do a complete 180?

I thought of it more as a kind of worn, twisty knob that was supposed to select 16 settings but it kept slipping and giving you the same ending.
And re: when that article came out. Does it matter? Less than two months before the game came out (and you assume they have a pretty good grasp on the game ending at that point) you get the infamous, "It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C."
Lets face it .. he has a serious problem with the truth coming out of his mouth.
