Oh dear. What's the date on this magazine? [EDIT: May 2011] Could they really still not have written the overall story at that point? I guess it makes sense - the various alliance building missions and story are great, and the Crucible parts are dopey. Maybe the dopey parts were all written much later on.

One thing I found strange is that the article describes both the Tuchanka and Ranncoch sections as  being more or less the same as they are now, and they are widely considered the best parts of the game. This makes me wonder; were they flailing about for an entire year trying to come up with an ending?

I am guessing that they realized it was too ambitious and EA wanted BioWare to release it no later than March, so they gave up and made the game far more linear with only paragon and rengade dialogue choices and three endings. Either that or Casey Hudson is a cumpolsive lier.

I finally get it. We're all taking part in a Bioware Alternate Reality Game. "Collect the clues, solve the mystery. Discover what happened to Casey Hudson and the ME3 team!" Is this the part where we start getting phone calls from a voice that sounds like Harbinger?

Wow. This... this is really terrible. Even if I didn't care about the ending, the fact that these statements are literally the opposite of what happened in the game absolutely blows my mind. These aren't cut features or developer dreams that never saw the light of day. These are PLOT POINTS that must have been completely rewritten to shoehorn in the Catalyst.

Poor form Casey. Exceedingly poor.

Well this pushed me over. After PAX, if nothing is resolved, I'm officially going to burn my copies of ME, ME2, and ME3. ****** on the remains. Microwave the remains. Then throw it in the woods across the street.

These are just more lies to be added to list. I feel really depressed and angry right now.

ARRRRRRG!! EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Every time I spend some time looking around the forums for news, someone has to discover something that makes the endings WORSE! It's infuriating! And it never stops getting worse!

People have to find something worse about the ending so u dont feel bad about the ending..

If the game became to ambitious to add in everything promised, I don't understand why they didn't release ME 3 as two games.
I would think they would stand to make more money that way.

Bringing up this stuff hurts them more than it hurts us.

I know, but it still feels like a knife in the back.

I am growing more resentful of Bioware by the day, and their unresponsiveness is NOT helping.

“… part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving… I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take a ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

So what's all this about happy endings and artistic integrity, again?

Either that, or Mass Effect became sentient and is actively trying to reap us.

Honestly now that I have seen this PAX is bioware's reckoning they better have something good cause they are going to lose a lot of fans if they don't change the endings in some form.

At the time, this probably wasn't a lie. I almost wonder how many endings they went through before this one was chosen.

I feel like the response from BioWare just isn't justified at this point. "We were so shocked and surprised and HURT by your responses!" ... Uh, how could you be? How could in good conscience say these things and not see this response coming?? Seriously, how??

Holy cow, I just got it!

Casey was hinting at the "good" ending of ME3 all along!

"Wouldn't it be just amazing to live on the Citadel" is his way of telling us that if you get a good GAW and War Asset rating, then Shepard ends up living while on (the ruins of) the Citadel!

And the part about "Take a ship to Omega" is just his hinting at the first DLC!  It all makes sense now!  Casey had a plan all along!  He... he...

:crying:
