WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO LIVE IN A FUTURE WHERE THE GALAXY FOCUSED ON IMPORTANT ISSUES AND NOT WHOM TWO CONSENTING ADULTS SLEEP WITH?
WOULDN'T IT BE GRAND?

I agree. The current amount of same-sex possible romances is fine, and characters like Garrus and Tali never seemed inclined to swing that way so I don't see why they should be changed.
Some people think it was a stretch to make Kaidan bi, but I always thought there was that kind of vibe from him in ME1 anyway.
Ditto. Especially in ME2 when he's doing the whole "I feel so betrayed" speech. A friend of mine emailed me after playing that and was like "did Kaidan just tell Shepard he loved him? Because that what it sounded like."
I've always felt that it made sense for Kaidan to end up being bi, and given that the original plan was for him to be bi it's not really a stretch.
Kaidan being made bi in ME3 was less a case of making a straight character gay and more a case of letting a bi character out himself.
As for the number of gay romances - there is only Cortez and Kaidan. (Unless you want to go lesbian, in which case there is Liara, Kelly, The Consort and Traynor.)
I don't get the fuss, to be honest. It seems to me making an issue where there isn't one. I don't see why Bioware would be making any more LIs for the series... it seems a bit of a waste of resources when they have bigger issues to deal with at the moment.

I agree with Dresden on this one, the fact that you're saying there shouldn't be any options for homosexual interests is what seems immature. (even if your title says *anymore*)
Almost like you aren't willing to accept it or have the possiblity of it. I think most people would like to assume you're trolling as the post itself seems homophobic.
If you've paid attention to what I've said at all then you would know that I'm saying is that previously straight squadmates should not become bisexual/homosexual. I even said that they could add more characters in to fill in that void.

So you're saying that the game is flawed in one way so they should just make it even more flawed? I agree it's pretty ridiculous how many people Shepard can romance(but at the same time, he does save the galaxy...)nopantsisabela wrote...

The fact of the matter is, not everyone is gay. Not everyone on the ship should be gay. A homosexaul maleshep should NOT be able to romance Garrus.
edit: I'm not saying you can romance Garrus, I'm saying that it's stupid to think you should be able to.
2nd edit: I'm not saying that ME3 has a outrageous amount of homosexuals either. I'm saying that people who think more squadmates should become homosexual for them are wrong.
Not everyone on the ship would throw themselves at you either. But they do; most of your companions can be romanced. Are people really like that in real life? NO. It's a game mechanic so that we all can do what we want. Same for the gay characters. Your title is appalling. You should probably change it, unless you're just trolling for "don't be a jerky homophobe" lectures.

Only Kaidan started pitching for the other team. Kaidan always felt a little... like he might have been into men.
It's like he was in the closet for two years and came out, and no one was surprised.
I'm pretty sure the threads requesting Garrus and Wrex to become S/S LI are just goofing around. You might be taking playfulness too seriously.

Is this the plot for the new dlc at Pax? I hope so

Bioware more than likely would've added these choices in the beginning with ME1 if they thought its what people wanted but it wouldve been a gamble considering the media outburst with LI's in the first game anyway...
I'm not saying that you are homophobic.
I said it SEEMS like it with how you're writing your posts, Its hard not to get this impression when you're saying a character shouldn't be gay, like its not allowed or acceptable at this point because he was considered straight before now.

I didn't say the system was flawed. I said, it is slightly unrealistic due to the need to provide us with choices. It's also unrealistic that you can pick your eyecolor, gender, and whether or not you have biotics. But I don't hear you complaining about those things. I'm a straight girl. I romanced Kaidan. Yeah it's a little odd for me to think of him having a gay relationship, but that's because I've always thought of him as straight because he's in MY story. But I recognize that other people (maleSheps) deserve to be able to romance him if they like him. It's THEIR story too.

This is the thing I don't get about the whole "Kaidan shouldn't be gay!" brigade. His sexuality is linked to YOUR story. So if you play as a straight female and romance Kaidan - he's straight in your story. And to be honest, the fact that Kaidan doesn't romance mShep until the third game makes the bi/gay Kaidan storyline so different it's a different character and story altogether.
There seems to be this weird notion that the characters are set in stone. But they are guided by the story they are in.
I really noticed this watching my flatmate playing femShep in ME3 and talking to Kaidan. In that version, Kaidan came across as kind of whiny and weak next to femShep. But in my playthrough, he was competent, intelligent and very much mShep's equal. Conversations with him had a very different tone and feel to them.
Because, as you say, in MY story he was a different character.
They both work. It just seems to me that some people have trouble separating their story from others.
